PLEASE SEE PICTURES OF USER ERROR ON DONATING TO BIOLIFE. Update 3.14.2025 :- CSL Plasma is Waaaaay better than this concentration camp they call a life saving donation center, I have had 56 donations in a row at CSL and not ONCE have I gotten a hematoma, suspect inserts or adjustment on my vein or anything. On top of that, they're the nicest people I've ever met, I couldn't say the same thing for Bio-Life. The exact opposite of CSL employees. I've documented some photos of hematoma and a unknown blood di
Love the staff. Very friendly and professional and they do their best to get you in and out. I have had multiple instances of bruising happening day after due to error while being poked. Makes me nervous to return.
I read the reviews prior coming here, I'm a new Donor. All I can say is....WOW! AMAZING experience. This place is amazing. They FOR SURE care about people donating, I've never seen such amazing people and such care. I DEEPLY appreciate you all making my experience amazing. I can't wait to come back. Finally found my place to donate. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!! Thanks everyone!
The staff was nice to me, but I can't say the same for another patient/client. I came in for my appointment and while I waited, another gentleman came in. He was 20 minutes late and apologized. The lady at the front told him to hold on so they could ask management what to do. Keep in mind, it was NOT busy. I was waiting and there were 3 people donating, I believe. I was scheduled for a physical as it was my first time. He was also scheduled for his first ever appointment as well. They rescheduled the man f
Nice place. Could be a little more helpful to new donors. Some staff excellent. Others not attentive. Kind of a crap shoot depending on day and time. One suggestion. Take heart rate and blood pressure BEFORE you do finger prick. The finger prick causes a natural spike in heart heart rate. Think about all the people who unnecessarily spent extra time waiting for heart rate to go down.
Very small , but very clean?.i do believe staff needs to be more communicative to their donors. Especially when it's there first time. I do feel things are a bit rushed during vital process. Donation process is great and comfortable.
I had such a great experience while donating plasma at the site closest to 14th street in Des, moines, the 2 gals that you worked with me. We're so kind so funny lighthearted, respectful, inattentive had a great experience
Everyone at biolofe on the south side of Des Moines is GREAT!! VERY PRECISE AND CAREFUL about everything they do makes the atmosphere feel secure and safe with the procedures they do. Very clean and everyone there is super courteous and give great service while providing a sanitary place to donate. Thank you guys!! Stephanie Lopez ~
I have to say I am disappointed. It's been a couple years since I have donated but I started back up. Never once was I checked on while donating and in Ankeny even if your a donar that is returning but it's been a long while and you have to go as a new donor they make sure you don't have a bad reaction and ask that you wait 15 mins after donating to make sure n even ask then after that but the se 14th location unfortunately wasn't no where near that experience I had in Ankeny. *updated review below this*
I don't know why on Christmas week you guys have to cut my pay down to 110 whenever I come in very regularly. I almost 70 visits in the last 6 months. Why would you do that? If you can't keep the pay straight there are other places that never go below 120 a week. You couldn't have picked the worst week to do this. Thank you very much for screwing me over on Christmas.
As a first time donor I was very impressed with this facility. The staff were all very kind and explained everything well. The phlebotomist did a pretty good job. Everything was very clean. Thank you for a good experience.
The first 3 times went smoothly. However after this fourth time, I'm hesitant to go back. I told the technician, Grecia, that it felt off. She dismissed it so I blew it off. The machine kept stopping every 15 minutes and she had to press a button & have me pump hard in order to start it up again. I told her this doesn't feel right as the machine typically doesn't stop this much. She rolled her eyes and didn't even respond to my concern. I left and my bicep swelled up and was rock hard. The injection site &
Ima be real with y?all. I had bad experiences. I was donating one day and hit the 200 ML mark next yk my machine turns off. A lady comes up and tells me I'll still get ?paid? for it but I can't come back to BioLife for the next 8 weeks bc they didn't want me to ?risk? losing more blood; Like it ain?t y?all machines trippin. And like I don't donate 890 frequently. Boom they take me off the machine and send me to the nurse. Nurse gives me some electrolytes. After I leave I was expecting to get paid right? NO
Don't try to come in the morning and think you will be there on time. I scheduled a 6AM appointment and the first issue was that they didn't even open the doors until 6:05 when we could see people standing there and talking. Went and did the questions and got in line to finish screening. The girl who was doing my screening (Grecia) was completely unprepared and I sat there for another 10 minutes waiting for her to be ready. I did not get sat and hooked up until 6:30 AM. So 30 minutes after the scheduled tim
I donate at this location frequently and the staff is awesome, never had any issues with pokes or anything along those lines. However, the amount of times that I have been sat in a chair before other donors and then end up being stuck after them is a little frustrating at times. There does not currently seem to be a system in place to get people poked in the order they arrive, and I think that would be a great addition!
Easy process and quicker. Workers are great and very professional. Location and workers have always been the greatest. As for company they used to offer coupons often or better pays. Seems only ones that get a better deal are the ones that come the first time.
Great customer experience and they make you feel safe and very comfortable! Definitely recommend!
I love Biolife on SE 14th! They are so quick! Today I was in and out in 45 minutes! RECORD!
This is a great facility. Clean and great people...workers and donors! It's like a big family. I would rate them a 5-star on People's Choice Awards, but I am selfish and don't want everyone to know how great they are...and ruin the wonderful vibe!
This is my regular location. The employees are friendly and helpful. You'll be treated with respect (see my review of the West Des Moines location. Grace and Janelle are lovely. They greet you with a warm greeting, ?Hi! How can I help you?? The wait isn't too bad. You're usually in and out within an hour and a half which is really good. I donate so much that I normally get to know the employees and get used to seeing them. It was sad when I left Illinois and had to stop going to the Harwood Heights location
Been going there for almost a year! Awesome staff and you get paid for helping people
I have mixed feelings about this place. I'm not going to crucify the place just because of some people. Some people are great and do their job with a smile while others have rude mannerisms. A great amount of people do seem to enjoy their job and know what to do. I PERSONALLY DO FEEL LIKE SOME INDIVIDUALS IN THERE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO STICK NEEDLES ONTO OTHERS BASED ON THEIR SLOPPY WORK. I shouldn't have 3 out of my 5 visits required to use my other arm because the employee messed up. Overall, I feel sa
I got the app, it doesn't work. I deleted and downloaded again and still can't get it to work. I've called the center at least 12 times nobody will answer phone so I can set appointment. I left messages, they said they would return the call. Never happened. I guess they got all they need. Not driving 8 miles just for them to say you can come back in 4 hours. Done.
Today 9/5/2024. Wrost experience ever. I had appointment at 10 am. Had to wait while others who just got there were help before me. Finally I'm called and ask the girl if she was done trying to make her point. And she went told her boss that I cussed at her..... well what a bunch of very unprofessional people that yall have working there. Grow up little girls
My experience has always been great. However, the last two times I have attempted to donate, I have gotten hematoma's and had to discontinue the donation. I don't want to stop giving but I need someone who is trained in difficult sticks. Do I say something? Please help.
This BioLife location and team are both incredible! The head nurse, Tammy is so caring, kind and considerate. Molly, is a stellar leader of the awesome team in Des Moines! Everyone I have interacted with is awesome here! Other locations in the metro do not compare, not even close!
Great staff very professional the technology and advancement you guys display far more advanced than other centers I've donated at starting with Octapharma LOL
My experience at this plasma center has been great. The people that work there are very respectful and hardworking. This especially is true for a young woman named Janelle. She is a very hardworking and friendly individual who makes you feel welcomed.
Understaffed. Stood at the front desk for half hour. No employee came to help me so I left.
I attempted to donate as a new donor on 11/15/24. The receptionist asked if I had eaten, and I responded that yes, I had a bowl of cereal. I was told "that's not gonna cut it". Now, we aren't talking about a little single serving box from the gas station. I'm a grown man eating kids cereal, so I'm going to estimate that it was 4 cups of milk and an equal amount of cereal. Upon returning home, I checked the nutrition labels. Every cup of whole milk contains 8g of fat, 12g of carbs, and another 8g of protein
Absolutely horrible manager. He is extremely rude. He has a bad attitude for a place we're you're supposed to have a positive experience considering you are donating plasma to help other people. He is not the right person for this type of profession and you guys should definitely think twice before choosing to donate at this location. The company should really consider a manager that has a positive attitude and is passionate about what they are doing, because this guy is not it. I ended up walking out and w
I went to donate 3 times and on the third time the nurse or technician gave me a hematoma. She didn't explain what happened and just said I need to try your other arm. She didn't explain what exactly happened or how to treat it or the fact that I would have to wait for it to completely heal before being able to donate again. So me being new, not knowing the protocol or ?rules? went in to donate again, passing vital checks and laying in chair ready for the donation when I get told that I need to see the nurs
Everything was perfect,. Except the questions on the kiosk need to be "more simpler"..
This will be the fourth time I've made an appointment and haven't been even able to get a physical as they're too busy. Waiting HOURS after my scheduled appointment while the nurse is complaining about the amount of people. Nice staff however still have yet to be able to donate plasma here.
The entire staff is friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in the door, amie got my vitals and questionnaire done and had me registered in no time. Christine and Shad both made sure that my donation was possible and a smooth process. This will be where I continue to donate its more professional than another center I've been at before. Karli is my favorite she never has to struggle to get me started.
Had my annual physical and the nurse was the most unprofessional rude person I have encountered there. She went ro break even with 5 people sitting waiting to be seen by her. Once I was seated in my donation chair had to wait awhile to be poked due to lack of workers out on the floor.
I admit I was nervous on my first visit. When I left, I knew I'd be back. Tammy, Molly, Kamryn and Jamesia helped me to have a great experience throughout the entire donation process. It was obvious they not only knew what they were doing, but they enjoyed it as well. Thank you!
The location runs smoothly and effectively. It seems that everyone is assigned a specific task and they work together to get clients taken care of as quickly as possible. The staff is always friendly and courteous.
I've only donated 4 times & already have a hematoma on both arms. They also said donating should take 1hr max, but every time has been 2-4hrs. My left arm hematoma is pretty bad & still isn't healing right after almost 2 weeks. I'm not coming back, it isn't worth the money
The machines are god awful. Over the timeframe of less than 2 weeks, the machine failed 2 times, spilling out my blood and making a mess everywhere. Besides from that, if the machines fail 2 or more times, you won't be able to donate in around a month which sucks if you only have a certain amount of weeks available to get all of the sessions needed for the promotions. The staff is okay but the schedule is terribly managed and if you are not there first hour in the morning, you are going to be on line for at
Arrived at my appointment 10 min early doors where closed. Manger comes out and said we don't have a nurse it will be about 45 min. I ask if we could reschedule and get the 2nd payment on the next week. I was told no. No compensation for your time. However if your late to your appointment it's canceled no exceptions. Biolife doesn't value your time. I don't need the money but Biolife treats you as if yf that's your only source of income. I have donated for over 3years don't like needles but had a family m
My experience was good but I haven't received my payment I have called and talked to them 3 times and still nothing
Hudson was great with finding vein and making if comfortable to get blood drawn. Samy and Kathryn were great as well. Molly was kind enough to explain things in depth and a total professional!
My first visit was great. They got me in and out very fast. Very friendly. Seems To be very knowledgeable? On the other hand visit not so great employees were a bit rude felt very ignored. That's something they should work on??
Since apparently it's a big deal if you live in a hotel and try and donate plasma they should really start reviewing some of these addresses people are giving cuz I can tell you of more than 20 people who donate at this location who live in hotels or even worse. In tents. Under bridges. Maybe they should actually start mailing things to these mailing addresses. And when they discuss it with you they're always very condescending. Like we get it you got a phlebotomy certification obviously you're better than
Irene was an amazing help. She was very kind and provided comfort throughout the whole process. Held very nice conversations and made the experience very enjoyable! Would definitely be coming back because of her!
The newest Des Moines area donation center. I love the staff here, all very competent and courteous. Haven't had any setbacks any of the dozen or more times I've donated at this center. The Assistant Managers seem to run a smooth sailing center, always right in, right out, no long delays. Once they extend hours, this will be my 100% go-to center. Excellent job, keep up the good work.
????? My experience at BioLife was nothing short of exceptional, and it was all thanks to the wonderful Kamryn. I was greeted with a warm and welcoming smile that immediately put me at ease. Kamryn's professionalism was evident in every step of the process. Not only was she highly skilled, but her kindness and compassion shone through as she explained everything and made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. It's rare to find someone who combines such proficiency with a genuinely caring demeanor. K
Molly was helpful, nice, and kind. Also, kept a good pace doing everything. Tammy is a rock star lady. She's amazing, fun, and works great at her job! A great first time. Will be coming again!
I was being followed by a group of women inside the donation center and they were baiting me with other women (sending other women by me and making comments about me). I reported this to the manager and I hope this gets addressed
1st time donor. Was scared that I'd get turned away again. I've been trying to donate for about 3 yrs now. Either my heart rate would be way to high, which 2 yrs ago, it wouldn't go below 100+. Then I had a brain tumor and had to get all the drs notes from that. Then finally I got the call. Thank you Kevin for that call. Dec 29th, 2023 was my 1st donation, that was the longest part, didn't think it would take that long, but worth it. Then January's snowstorm came and I ended up missing 2 donation days, mean
Up to this point I have not had a bad experience. All the people who work there are very nice and seem genuinely concerned about the donors and how they are doing.
Professional knowledgeable staff, very clean and sanity environment, convenient to schedule a appointment with a busy life style. Pleased with my experience throughout the year's I've donated plasma here. Highly recommend.
Friendly staff, prompt service, and great management. I have donated plasma here dozens of times for the past couple of years, and always had a good experience. I've donated plasma with BioLife for almost 4 years total and I've always wanted to keep going there.
The nurse with the glasses is extremely rude and unprofessional I'll leave it at that.
Two years made donations in West Des Moines, with small issues with Nurse Ratchet. Waited 2 years and tried SE Des Moines, after 4 visits and no return follow up calls. The doctor on duty claimed that I didn't provide all my information. Excuse me, I did claim my 2 issues and provided proper documentation from my medical team. I tried to talk to an assistant manager, very disappointed with Bio Life. Lucky for me, the next day, I went to CSL Plasma in Des Moines was seen, and able to donate on the spot! $10
I've been donating for over a year now very professional place to visit they are very attentive to the process that takes place and explaining everything and each and every time I go in. The environment and the people working there could not be a nicer and it's like almost I feel at home when I'm there so very enjoyable experience and I advise everyone healthy enough to to donate and save some life. I donate it the one on Southeast 14th awesome people
Took a break donating plasma after they gave me a hematoma, I understand that mistakes happen. Now I'm trying to get back into donating and I've called about 15 times today and no one has answered the phone except for once and then they immediately hung up.
Was my first time donating, the nurse and phlebotomist made me feel very comfortable, answered all my questions and also made sure I was very educated on the whole process! The beds were comfortable and clean.
Always quick and friendly workers at this facility . Today I had Irene , she did a fantastic job . as soon as my machine notified her I was done she headed straight over to unhook me, I always appreciate timely workers
As with any place there are amazing staff, staff that just show up, and staff you would rather not engage with. I want to take this time to recognize the staff here that make it a pleasure to donate everytime. Please recognize Brook Kathryn Kamryn Kaylee Lal
I saw the one-star reviews, but thought I would give them a try anyway, since I could use the extra money right now. I understand the low reviews now. I walked a mile to the nearby center in 90+ degree heat to make my first donation. I had eaten an entire can of chunky soup before I left. I got there, only to be told that it wasn't enough, and that I couldn't donate. I have donated plasma before on less than that, and had no complications of any kind. Their email said to eat a healthy, but not necessa
At the SE 14th St location in Des Moines, IA I am a donor and I want to compliment the entire BioLife business as they are professional, helpful, caring, skilled and friendly. I still donate because of their support and guidance. There are others I could mention, but I don't know their names and the names I will list I only know their first name. If I miss spell the name I am sorry upfront, but I think they need to be complimented. Those who do excellent work and there are more I COULD LIST BUT DON'T HAVE T
It's been over a week. I (29M) still can't use my right arm. I wanted to give 2 stars. Let me walk you through it. 1st Day: I showed up on time. After 1.5 hours of testing, I was told I couldn't donate because I didn't eat enough protein. They took my blood and said they would call me when my blood is approved and I could come back. That's alright, at least it wasn't a complete waste of now 2 hours and I'll check my diet better for next time. I called every single day for 8 days to check on my test result
The staff try to get you through quickly and are very personable.
Have always had a very pleasant experience here. However, Brook needs an attitude adjustment and people skills.
This location is one of the better locations. Staff is very friendly. They get you in and get you out in a decent time. All of the staff take the time to explain if you have questions. Have not had a bad experience at this location. Big shout out to the management team, they are always smiling and friendly. Would deff recommend this location because they are courteous and fast and professional.
So one of my arms I have donated only one time out of and the center I was at(not the southside) didn't get my vein right and on the return it blew up. Since then I have been scared to try again. I let JORDAN from the southside location try it and it was the fastest and least painful donation I have ever had. He was amazing and showed concern with my worries. Thank you Jordan.
I had my physical yesterday and donation. I was in and out in an hour. The nurse Tammy did such an amazing job, I normally only let management stick me, but Sean did awesome! Clean, friendly faces
I'm a first time donor. Maddie took my blood and she was great. Very friendly and helpful. Please give her recognition. She did a wonderful job. Thanks Maddie!
Horrible experiences here. This place is a trainwreck. Rude employees, incompetence abounds from the nurses to the phlebotomist. Don't feel safe with the poorly trained staff. Went six times to this location and will not return. Management halfway pretends to care and ask for feedback, but don't actually do anything to help. Not worth the time or the few crumbs they give you while they're making over $1500 per 900 ML of plasma. ????
I've been to the Ankeny and WDMS locations and this location is the one I've had the best experience with. All the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. While I am waiting to get hooked up to the machine, the staff is good about acknowledging that they see me sitting there and will be with me as soon as they can, I don't sit and question if they see me or not. My wait time is very minimal here compared to other places.
Kevin was wonderful he got me in and explained everything very well Elizabeth got me hooked up and I didn't even feel her stick me , Shirley was wonderful and got me out the door fast .....oh and last but not least Aimme was also a joy to start thr process with
Very professional clean environment! Everyone was extremely inviting and friendly! I sadly couldn't remember everyone?s names but Molly and Kyle got me settled and set up and made me feel comfortable through the whole donation process! Please donate!!
I was invited by a friend to give me plasma. I was a little nervous. My picture of a center was not so suitable for individuals walking in and out. To my surprise this place is clean. The employees where polite and answered all my questions. They even let me go to the front of the line because it was my first time (those appointments are longer,) I sat and watched tv while giving plasma. I got payment on the card before I walked out the door. It was a great experience. So save lives and earn some extra cash
Ali is absolutely amazing! Incredibly friendly and is always super welcoming!
This biolife location is the definition of incompetence. And when you're dealing with people's bodies that's not a good thing. I have donated plasma for years in another city and very rarely had a problem. I have been to this Des Moines location five times and four out of those they have caused a problem, causing me complications and making me wait an extra 30 minutes to an hour, or having to come back the next day. I guess it's hard to find good help these days and it really shows here. It's unfortunate be
Process is smooth and employees are friendly. Have never had an issue since I started donating here. They are understandably busy but have handled the traffic well as far as I've seen. No complaints and I appreciate the facility and staff
I have been donating for years. I started at the Des Moines store right when it opened. Out of all the clinics it has been my best experience. The staff is kind, caring, and great at what they do! I would recommend this location to anyone looking to donate plasma!
I have been going to Bio Life for a couple years now at 3333 SE 14th in Des Moines and have had nothing but great experiences. All the staff has been very professional and have had zero issues.
Horrible wait time after vitals waited an hour then I left without donating becasue they can't respect my appointment and other outisde importnant needs I have to go to. Talking and talking . You don't need to be looking at each other to be talking . Do your work . An hour is too much to wait for v?stale if you got an appointment period
This place is really clean, and everyone was helpful, friendly, and quick on their feet. They even gave me a piece of beef jerky, friggin' score man.
Cody Becker was a fantastic sticker. He was very personable and went out of his way to help not only the donors around him but the employees too.
I been donating here for 2 years best place to donate they pay the best and never there over a hour.
Show up 15 minutes before my appointment full with no appetite but the nurse says I haven't eaten enough and can't donate. I'm literally full you want me to force feed myself too much food to donate? I have never delt with this at any other biolife I have been too. I couldn't go get food next door and come back and still be on time for appointment she said I had to reschedule. I have donated hundreds of times and I made sure I was well hydrated and fed before I came but the nurse said I didn't eat the righ
To be honest, I have not donated plasma at any other biolife other than the West Des Moines location. I live on the south side of Des Moines and I was excited to see the Biolife Center off SE 14th Street. However, after seeing several different awful reviews that described similar experiences has me deciding to stay away from this location. Will update if I ever take the risk of going in there. It's really disturbing to see that the front desk is not making people feel welcomed or cared about. Maybe start
The employees are very kind and efficient. They made sure I understood the donation process and adhered to the required policies and procedures.
I came to BioLife last week got turned away because I didn't eat a full meal which didn't say in email. The staff is very rude they need to learn how to treat customers. Trying to schedule your next appointment sucks because they system always down??????? I don't recommend this location better off going to Octapharma instead.
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
