Everyone was wonderful! I was greeted and helped right away, and everyone was very nice and attentive. I was nervous going in there because my last donation was 2 years ago and I was pretty rusty on the process, but each person I encountered was extremely kind, patient, and helpful, and made sure I knew the process.
Let me tell you this is a wonderful place!!! They take there time to show you what will be done .They are so nice and friendly, and I like how you can use your phone to make appointments and look up rewards. I do go to another location in Texas and that place suck !!!!! Thank you too the wonderful people in Biolife in Dubuque Iowa you guys are the BEST !!!!!!!
My 2nd appointment was very quick about 1 hour and everyone w a very nice and professional. I had the same nurse stick me both times so far, and I was surprised she remembered me as I know there are alot of people who come through on a daily basis.
I am so happy that I am healthy and able to donate plasma on a regular basis with no side effects. It makes me feel good to be able to help others. The staff at the Dubuque, IA facility are so friendly and personable. They always remember me by name and acknowledge me when I come thru the door. I will continue to donate as long as I can. Best, Susan Barg~
There always something that goes wrong. One day the NO button didn't work while checking in, that delayed my appointment about 10 minutes. Half the time they can't get my blood pressure. Not enough staff when I finally get back to donate so always waiting to get hooked up. out of the total times I've donated so far half the time they give me a rookie. almost always have to wait to get unhooked and one time the nurse forgot to clamp the hose and my blood spurted on my clothes and on the bed.
The Dubuque location has a staff of amazing people! Everyone is focused on donor comfort.
Very friendly and actually care about your comfort i don't like needles so they understood and are very quick and professional glad to be going too biolife
The staff at Bio Life Dubuque is always very friendly and professional, even at 5:30 in the morning. They answer all of my questions and explain every step of the process.
You will never be seen at your appointment time. They are understaffed and just throw you in a huge line to wait for 30 minutes then you can get donating. But there's a 50% chance they won't wrap the wound correctly and you'll bleed on your way to your car. So just make an appointment 30 to 40 minutes before you actually want to start. Cause they just let 4 people sign up for one time slot. What's the point of making an appointment time if you're never going to be seen at it? Management sucks
Pay me 70 then put a 70 dollar hold on my card (no, I wasn't deferred) then say there's nothing you can do. Bullshit.
All the staff I had contact with were very kind and informative. It took me a year to finally get up the courage to schedule an appointment and now I wish I would have done it sooner. Very positive experience.
For the most part the staff members are nice. Some can make you feel like they didn't want you there. Sometimes it's hard to find an appointment. They just don't offer the bonuses like they used to. Like get an extra $50 if you donate so many times in a certain amount of time. I'm wondering why it's allowed to let people leave their dogs in the car. I've seen it on hotter days and cold days. That's not right. Wish there could be a rule about leaving dogs in the car while donating. Some dogs keep barking.
I had to contact bio life services to let them know I was discriminated against more than once at this location. After I explained they removed my deferral period the manager placed me under for her own personal reasons. Scary place for attitudes like that
Sara has been a great help when I've had to see the nurse. From easing my nerves at my physical for my first visit to fixing my finger errors when filling out the questionnaire, she always has a smile on her face no matter how busy it may be! Dubuque center is easy to find. It's been a pleasant and rewarding experience donating plasma.
For those who aren't afraid of needles, donating plasma through BioLife can be a way to help others and earn some side income at the same time. I've always had a very pleasant experience with the office in Dubuque IA. Everyone is very polite and courteous. Professionals in what they do, but friendly. I like the early morning hours (usually 5:45am for me) availability. I would highly recommend.
So normally BioLife in Dubuque gets five stars from me. However when I went on Thursday 12/26/2024 they bruised me.
I'm going for my 5th donation tomorrow. Everyone there is soo nice and very professional. My donations have gone smoothly and in a timely manner I definitely give a thumbs up to BioLife.
Don't be surprised if as a new member they try stopping your donations after the 2nd one due to inability to test your protein sample. They did that to my fiance when she started donating so she was unable to use her new donor coupon to its fullest and they are doing the same thing to me right now.
Came in to donate plasma and was very surprised at the cleanliness of the building compared to my previous clinic in Phoenix. This building is much cleaner and the process was easy. I also appreciated the friendly and professional people and environment
Staff are always friendly. Jeff is always a pleasant smiling face to see when first coming in the door. Kyah and the other Phlebotomists always do a great job. Rarely have any issues when coming to donate.
Staff wasn't welcoming at all and looked irritated when I showed up for my appointment. When they told me that they couldn't help serve me I was dumbfounded. Also call in advance to make sure you have a checklist because the one the website or app shows you is not accurate.
Staff is very friendly and caring. I wish ever one of the staff had the same level of ability as sometimes it goes off without a hitch or like the last time I went and ended up with not one, but two, bruised arms. They still made it a comfortable experience, just not quite 5 stars.
I never got a call back to donate again, after I called their office to see if I was ok to donate again. They said they would call me to let me know. The only reason I found out I was ok to donate was by scheduling my own appointment again in their app. I was clear to go and could donate again.
I have been donating for years have never seen the wait time so backed up with limited sections open. I waited an hour today to not even get checked in before I ended up walking away. Why open up so many appointment times if the times can't be met? All the available appointment times make someone believe that its not going to be busy when they get there. I have now skipped 3 weeks because I don't have the time to waste waiting in line. What use to take me 1 hour is now taking a good 2.5 hours.
I'm so tired of going on the app to schedule an appointment. It doesn't matter what day. They all say "no slots available for this day." Even on the web. How can they be that busy? I might just quit going. Annoying. I wish it was easy to make an appointment on the app but how can I when there's no available times.
I'm sorry but even today with the weather being 30 degrees some lady left her three dogs in her not running car... It's too cold for dogs to be left in a car for 40 minutes or so. Happens a lot there even in hot weather..I don't understand why people who donate even bring their dogs just to leave them alone like that without any concern of the temps.
When I started donating a year ago I would be in and out within an hour. Now, I haven't left in under 2 hours, I've currently been waiting for over an hour and I'm not even close to getting a bed (yes, I'm writing this while waiting in line). There are currently 20 people waiting for a bed and they only have 2 sections open. How can you have only 2 sections open when there are this many appointments scheduled? Corporate really needs to make some changes so you are not over working the employees here. It's n
Place used to be run smoothly, but some changes were put in place and now you wait in your car (in sub zero temps) for over an hour to even be seen. Why have appt times if they don't mean anything. People who make an appt in the early morning generally have a job to get to and don't have three hours of time available when it used to only take an hour. People can't constantly be late to their job, so unless they make some changes I think they will start losing people. I feel bad for the staff as it's no
Donating has always taken far longer then it should, I have left more times due to lack of communication then I can count. They lost my paperwork once, so had to redo the entire physical process, had to get multiple vein checks by multiple people in the same visit because it wasn't communicated it had already been done. Most recently it's taken over 2.5 hours for a donation because the lack of staff, if you do not have the staff to be respectable of people?s time then offer less appointments per day, more p
First when I set up my appointment they didn't tell me I needed a physical so I drove 25 minutes one way for no reason. Second when I set up my physical on a different date, I waited over an hour after my appointment time and I was still was not given a physical. My time is worth more than that so I left. Why I have appointments if you don't stick to them? I will never be coming back. If anyone values their time, I would never recommend going here.
Place is understaffed in the morning. Usually wait 5-10 to be unhooked when finished and about the same amount of time at the start most times. Some workers just stick ya while some are awesome
Have in the past always had great experiance but recently had to do the one year physical an the older nurse was just talking with me an made many racists comments about the kids i foster after seeing a pic on my phone. Have always had good service even though staff changes often. The one thing that bothers me is all the false advertising about saving a life when its more likely to be used as cosmetics. Its very clean always an good child care. Over all would have gave a 5 if not for the one time i got the
This review is for the Biolife creditcard. The Biolife employees in Dubuque are Amazing?? and the center is well taken care of for the most part. ?? But I do hope in the the future , you choose another cardholder carrier because this card Sucks!! Lol. Seriously! ?? when people are donating we should be able to get every penny that we receive. ?? I will go to a no fee ATM take out the cash and at the end of the day the cardholder is charging us a fee!?? I'm sorry, I don't care what ATM I use the cardholder
The staff are very friendly, but extremely overworked. After 4pm on weekdays the line is up too twenty people long, & you won't get a bed until an or or more after your appointment. Management could do more to better this issue but don't.
The management of the Dubuque BioLife has no respect for their donors. They have about 60 donation beds but in my visits not enough phlebotomists to staff more than about 25% of them. Thus, regardless of your appointment time you routinely stand for 45 to 60 minutes waiting just to begin the donation process. The donors are treated like cattle standing in the chute waiting for the slaughter. I have called the donation center twice to talk with them about problems with the scheduling app and each time my ca
I had a great experience. The staff was friendly and a particular worker named Matt Roth was extremely nice and very helpful and he really made my day. Matt Roth was very friendly and made the donation go by so smoothly with very thought provoking and interesting discussions about the world of plasma donations
Seems like new employees are pushed through training too fast. Tina and Rachel are great managers, can't say the same for the guy. He is very rude. They changed the wifi this week and now you can't get on wifi while you donate.
Been denied twice from donating for arbitrary reasons. I was told contradictory information about what a ?full meal? is. They are not easy to work with. You'd have an easier time selling drugs than donating here
I've always had a great experience donating at this facility. Staff is very friendly and location is very clean. The nurse Sara is always very helpful and kind!
Everyone is very polite and professional but most to their tech need training i came a month straight without any issues getting a vein with one lady i dont remember her name but she has glasses with short curly hair, she is amazing and knows what she is doing but after that month they would send me to other girls and one blew my vein and pushed saline into my arm i couldn't use my arm for 3weeks after and im scared to go back after that
I've been donating over a year now and have found this place to be a great side source of income. Staff are friendly and the facility is held to a high standard of cleanliness
Great service! The lady named Drea, She is friendly, caring and serves with humility! I invite people to donate to save life. I humbly ask Donors to be patient with the staff as they are doing everything to provide amazing service in safe environment for all because Coronavirus!
Was helped today by Jerome and he was like a zombie. Extremely poor communication skills mumbled the entire time I was in his station. It's like I was being helped by a zombie. These are the kind of people they have working at this place. It used to be excellent but the quality has gone completely down hill. Will never donate again at this location.
Usually takes only an hour to donate has been taking over 2 sometimes even 3 hours. Had to wait outside for an hour. Idk what management is doing or why there's 25-30 people having to wait to check in every time I come now. Way to many appointments allowed and they can't seem to handle it.
Horrible place. Inexperienced staff. They busted my girlfriends vein in both arms. Her arm is swollen the size of a golf ball. She went in to donate again and they told her she couldn't donate because THEY screwed up her arms. She also passed out and had to go to the emergency room. We have contacted our lawyer and we strongly advise others who have had this problem to do the same. This has happened to countless people due to lack of experience. They let any joe blow off the street take your plasma. Also th
I have donated in and off in Dubuque since the original facility location downtown. Over the years it has been extremely sad to watch this place go down hill every time I return from taking a break. From under staffed, to the asinine "waiting" area the cram people into that used to be the daycare area, to never enough people doing intake questions to always a bed wait, ever changing staff and perpetual outdated "covid" policies that seem to be throttling an already choking system. This used to be a reliable
I have had nothing but good experiences every time I've donated in the Dubuque location. Everyone is very professional and I look forward to donating every week!
I felt like I was rushed through just to find out that I supposedly couldn't donate? But had a friend who had the same problem and she was able to donate. I called to ask about it and the woman I talked to was very rude. I have never donated before and I NEVER will go back and do not recommend this center. I'm not sure how you can do a vein check over someone's rolled up sweatshirt.... Very disappointing.
This comment clearly mattered not as there is still the same issue almost a year later........ what's with the no appointments available? find it hard to believe there's no appointments two weeks out when i was just in there the other day and there was like 15 empty chairs and a whole section not in use
Spent almost 2 hours here for them to tell me they can't find my veins. No compensation for my time. Heard the nurse say out loud to a customer that he couldn't donate due to him having HIV. Very unorganized. However, Maranda was very friendly, upbeat and apologetic for the long delay.
Great place to give back! Short staffed but everyone there is absolutely wonderful!
All the staff here is amazing and so friendly. I have very small veins as in when I do to the dr for an IV they have a hard time getting one in. However at BioLife they never seem to have any trouble with my veins. Well there was one time when they put the nededle in just a little to far ao we had to switch arms. But other then that I have jever had a bad experience here. I'm in at least once every week.
Stuff isn't friendly rude they don't know how to work they machines . Something is always going wrong at this location . Under staff .
Biolife DESPERATELY needs to figure out the scheduling issue. This is my current wait time?. Not even at a fricken bed yet. 9:30- appointment time? did questions 9:33-10:10- screening 10:15- currently 10:30- waiting for a bed An individual just cut the line, new donor. Another individual said ?I got here before her.? Please figure this out. It's not worth $20 to come and wait 2+ hours just to donate. Bump up pay if there's a long wait. Something has to give.
I tried to schedule my appointment just a few minutes after midnight a few days ago so i could get an early morning spot for 2 weeks in advance and no appointments were free until 9:30am, there is no way they can possibly be this busy, the staff has always been good and friendly but i think management needs to change and there needs to be much more staffing, the place has really gone downhill over the years, specially after covid started.
The staff members are all kind and helpful, glad I can help people by donating.
I love to help save lives his place is amazing all around amazing clean staff is awesome they make sure your fully comfortable before donating I recommend my friends
very good staff. do not feel needle going in. only problem is they are short on staff and it is hard to get an appointment. very friendly
Unfortunately it is one bad experience that really ruined Biolife for me, while normally i get amazing staff (Ivy hands down is amazing, always accuracte and informative and friendly) This past time I got someone who really didn't know what she was doing. I repeatedly told a nurse something felt wrong with a needle stick and I ended up being right! They pumped and full "container" of blood back into my arm but not into my vein (so it all just was forced under my skin)! The pain was excruciating and they did
I love to help people in need but won't go to the plasma center in Dubuque. The wait in Dubuque was long throughout the entire experience. I stood in line and sat at the machine for several minutes so I left without donating.
I had Josh do my stick. He was absolutely amazing! I have had bad experiences in the past so I was nervous. But he was by far the BEST and I'm a hard stick because I have small veins.
There are 17 people waiting to get seated. I feel sorry for that 17th person. They will be here for a few hours only to make $20. Need to up the value of theses incentives!
Always clean, usually quick. Worth the money when they don't lowball you for a week or two.
Friendly staff, was a longer experience than expected but I was a first time donor. Good compensation definitely will return.
Staffing is overwhelmed recently, not sure what is happening at this location but you will wait for every step of the process. What once could have been a 1.5 hour commitment is no longer the case.
Im being more kind with the two stars then how the staff act and treat people. So happy i didnt have to donate. I feel real uneasy being poked by people trained off the streets.
Everyone is polite and helpful.
Staff is really good for the most part. The appointment times is where they need improvement.
First time here, not impressed. Very rude staff from the second we walked in. When they pricked my finger, they didn't do it in the right spot, they did it right on the print so it hurt very bad. Didn't explain anything to me and expected me to know. I was excited to do this, but will not be returning to this facility. Awful!
It was fast, the workers were nice and did a good job and it was clean.
Sometimes it feels like the technicians just jab the needle in your arm and they don't care. Other times you don't feel the needle. It's a hit and miss
Very friendly, make you feel comfortable right from the start.
If i could give a Negative rating I would! IVE ALREADY donated plasma at least 6 times then the 7th donation they tell me. Because THEY don't have a longer or functioning BP Cuff ....I am no longer able to donate plasma?...SO I GUESS IF YOU ARE FLUFFY (PLUS SIZED) DONT TRY TO DONATE BECAUSE THEY CANT ACCOMMODATE ANY PLUS SIZE PEOPLE....I WAITED FOR 2 AND A HALF HOURS TO DONATE FOR NOTHING AND ALL I GET IS AN "IM SORRY BUT THIS WILL HAPPEN EVERY TIME" SPEECH WHICH IS BULL AND $20 SCREW THIS PLACE. ALL I WANT
The best place ever I absolutely love all the staff the daycare lady(who name I cannot remember sorry) takes very good care of my daughters everyone is friendly which make the process so smooth i love it here thank you Dora,Blake, katherine, CID and the rest of the staff ??
Love this place great staff and wait times are not always forever
Great people, very friendly, nurses are helpful and professional. Would recommend to anyone donating at this location.
It's great. I've been going for years. Everyone is courteous and helpful. They helped me through my amputation that I had.
This place is wonderful! I had a great experience and everything has improved so much sense the new management.
Giving Plasma is a GREAT, win / win, (Not only do we help our communities but the extra money comes in handy). Please consider giving so we can help those in need. If needed, please use me as your referral, (Perry Reuter, Dickeyville). I will be happy to donate a portion of all referral money to our local Youth bowling program at Sunset Lanes, (our program teaches bowling and life lessons for our young bowlers). Thank You Perry
Donated 2 times. Then they said 1 blood test was +HIV, 2nd test negative HIV. Since there was a + one, I can never come back to Biolife nor give blood. I went to hospital and all my blood work was NEGATIVE!
Drea is an awesome worker makes the time go faster and very good at her job!
Staff is so friendly and helpful every visit! Alyssa is always so positive and efficient!
Drea is amazing definitely will be getting stuck by her again. I highly recommend her!!
The staff is doing all they can to get people trained. I can't believe how rude done of the donors are.
Plan on waiting a long time to get stuck. There seems to be little organization when it comes to the process. They could really benefit from someone that understands the flow of the process.
You're required to make an appointment but takes hours once you get there to donate. Either get more staff or don't book so many people at a time. I should be in and out within an hour. Poor management, it's very frustrating.
Made an appointment for the free time I had and they didn't honor it told me to set up another appointment. The staff was yelling at each other and showed not a hint of professionalism!
The Dubuque team is awesome!! Kathleen, Conner, Tina and Ashley K are always great to work with.
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
