So far I have a mixed opinion and I will do an update later. I had no idea that you have to be eating in order to do any plasma. Let me explain, I am fasting right now. And I was completely honest with the people at the time and I donated blood to Red Cross dozens of times while in a fasted state. Apparently that's not something you can do for plasma so I'll have to return another time when I'm not fasting. My initial review of the place is pretty good honestly. The building is large and clean and there may
The time from check in for physical to completion was 3 hours. There was never more than 4 people in line and there were 7 donors to 1 technician in my area. When I arrived my donation reward changed from sign up.
Inefficient. I heard a worker tell someone that if they are more than 10 minutes late for their appointment, they need to reschedule. Meanwhile, I'm more than 45 minutes past the time of my appointment and I'm STILL waiting. If it doesn't go both ways, it's just disrespectful! If my appointment is at a given time, shouldn't my wait be no more than 10 minutes? SMH!
I've made 3 donations here and it's by far the worst plasma center. I've been sitting waiting to start plasma on the bed for 30 minutes now. The first two days were 40 minutes. Just totally uncalled for. What is the point of making an appointment. Taking 3 hours every time to donate and it's definitely nothing to do with me. If there is someone waiting on the bed because of you getting stopped to deal with other patients then there needs to be a different process. Especially when multiple people could ha
The staff are always so friendly and professional. They treat you like family. The facility is also super clean.
Update!!! The wait has been much shorter and they have increased their staff. Employees and management has always been the best with making me feel comfortable and safe. I love this simple way of earning extra money. It's how I pay for my Disney habit. I'm a longtime donor. My appointment was for 10am. It is now 11:20am and I'm still in line for a chair. I hate when they're understaffed but still allow the same amount of appointments. ??
The lady at the front desk was nice. Didn't appreciate how as soon as the other person I came with was talked about behind their back. The nurse I spoke too wanted to know about my psychological history or ten years prior. Said that she has to know because she's a professional, but when asked how any of that is relevant failed to provide a substantial answer. I could understand if I was medicated but Im not and havnt been for a long time. Definitely felt like my privacy and my rights were invaded. Ple
Went in for a normal donation.. there was only one person doing vitals check in. After almost 2 and a half hours later. Finally get into a bed. Once the nurse put the needle in, it didn't feel right. Like the needle wasn't even put in correctly. After the first round of taking my blood, it wouldn't go back in my arm. She had to keep the machine from stopping multiple times. The blood finally went back into my arm but once it started to try and take blood again, I felt immense pressure and pain from the need
EDIT: After calling into the center to speak with someone about lodging a complaint, Arlicia returned my call and was very kind. She listened to what I had to say, and reassured me that my concerns would be addressed. I've since changed my rating to 5 stars due to being compensated for the issues I dealt with and the excellent customer service I received from Arlicia. My first time donating was Friday, February 28th and everything went well up until the actual blood draw. The woman who checked me in, Arlic
The facility and workers are great. I'm very disappointed that I keep donating but I keep getting less and less money. It would be nice if once in awhile if you give us regulars a little extra money. I'm thinking about checking out a different facility.
Wait times lately have been tolerable, staff friendly and efficient, and when the sticking is done right it's almost painless. I'm finding that the Watson Rd location is much quicker in every regard. Twice there, I've been no longer than 90 minutes. At the Fairview location it's often 3 hours and more.
I really enjoy coming here but they need a new way of seating people. It has happend more then I can count people behind me in line get stuck before because of the section you get called too it takes a long time anyway so why have a line if you sit 4 people in your section and u can't get to them the 5 th person goes into a section that there's no other people and they get stuck first.
Hire better qualified phlebotomist or retrain the ones you have because as long as I've been donating I NEVER had an issue, but this one time as soon as the lady stuck me I knew something was wrong and so did she because she immediately wrapped my arm with an ice pack and sent me bout my day. Now I can't donate till my arm heals. The picture I included is the healing process, so just imagine how it looked a week ago when it first happened. I understand mistakes happen but there's no mistake when someone?s l
Brittany was the coolest ?? she's my Favorite Vampire. ???? she makes me feel welcomed, comfortable and important. I highly recommend Brittany and her work.
Don't bother trying to get in contact with them. I have been going here for a year and didn't have an issue but the last month I've had issues scheduling my appointment and I've called countless times with no answer, left voicemails with no answer, and gone in person, where I was told they couldn't help me because the system was down
I refered a friend and didn't get referral fee. They say the donor i refered gets paid.lol. so why refer anyone to bio life. Funny but that's not how it's says it works on their website. Plus why make an appointment. It might be 2hrs later before you get thru the line. As you can see in the pic they say you get it in your bio life rewards which is bs
Had an appointment for 6:55, it's stated there's a 10 minute grace period. I was walking up to check in at 7:03 and she locked the doors on me as I was walking up. Tried showing my appointment because within the rules and the grace period I'd still be on time but she just walked away and kept the doors locked. Any other time they honor the grace period and the doors aren't locked till 7:10 which is when the last appointment can be. The only days I'm able to donate are Thursdays and Saturday and I get off wo
When this place is staffed you can be in and out in a little over an hour. This past visit, I dont understand why they don't reduce appts... it was over an hour and a half before I got to a bed, another 20 minutes or so waiting to get hooked up, finished my donation, was finally out after 2.5 hours. Staff doesn't seem to mind, doesn't seem like there's any urgency, spend an awful lot of time in idle chit chat. The manager was busy the whole time training and doesn't seem to care that his staff is const
They have been short staffed for weeks apparently. This causes tremendous wait times. Why are they allowing so many people to make appointments at the same time while being short staffed?! Seems like an easy fix.
Been going for the past couple of weeks and have multiple complaints the ppl that work there really dont care about you dont get me wrong theres a couple of ppl there that are actually good at there job but most of them really suck at there job theres a big lady at the check in that is incredibly rude and shes just tryna get you outta her face as soon as she can theres a guy there that always talk about veins moving and one time he had to poke me then move the needle inside of me to get it in my vein and th
I had a great experience. The staff is very good at their job and friendly. The facility is very clean. I m looking forward to my next visit.
First off, the staff are great and I view BioLife as one of the most sanitary plasma donation facilities I've ever visited. I value the kindness of the staff and doing the best to ensure patients are taken care of. However, I do feel they are greatly understaffed and maybe undervalued for all they go through dealing with so many patients this holiday season. With the numbers not decreasing from when I first started here over a year ago, they need more staff asap and/or the schedule needs to be lightened. A
I will not be back this is probably the slowest center over ever donated at. No sense of urgency at all with what little people were in the center it still took 2 1/2 hours as if I was a new donor. Not to mention the out dated machines that turned my usual 30/35 min donation into an hour.
Marcia always does a great job, she is consistent and strives to do her very best every time she is in the building. She is very friendly and for the safety of the patient, she never gets in to big of a hurry. Easily one of my top 3 favorite health care professionals at this facility
I donated for the first time. The staff was very friendly and helpful in walking me through the process. Looking forward to donating again.
All of the staff members were very nice! Made the whole experience a lot less intimidating!!
The staff is amazing. The facility itself is great too, but the staff is what really makes it the best.
The staff is friendly, well trained and everything is explained to you very clearly and this makes the process of registering fast and simple
Edited: management did reach out personally and addressed my concerns. I do think the company in general could still improve their policies and communication and wish I could rate specific aspects. Most of the staff is nice and I would give them a 4.5 but the process/procedures get a 2 from me. I got turned away for starting a different medication within the last month while people who are clearly high were allowed to proceed. You may be ?deferred? if your vitals (BP, temp, etc.) do not meet their requireme
My appointment was at 9:25 - still waiting an hour later to donate with two people ahead of me. Why accept this many appointments if you are short staffed. Also 50 percent of the staff walk around with no hustle or urgency AT ALL. Please hire more people OR limit the amount of appointments you take !
This location is very clean and efficient and all of the staff is beyond amazing and explain everything very well! Shout out to John for giving me a painless stick! He is so polite and made me feel extra comfortable by consistently checking on me! I will be back!
Short staffed for weeks apparently. This causes tremendous wait times. Why are they allowing so many people to make appointments at the same time while being short staffed. Been going to this location since they opened in Fairview. This is the slowest I've seen it. I left after a hour waiting in line to get virtual checked. The workers are great, but management needs to be fixed.
Great experience everyone was kind and professional as busy the environment is the techs do a wonderful job. Keep up the good works.
Great experience all things considered. The staff is super friendly. They made it a much less scary experience.
Emily is so sweet & personable. She cares & makes me feel very comfortable. I will continue to request her
Oh, where to begin at first I started donating to this place and it was really nice. When it first opened, I could go in and out within an hour. It was awesome and now, with the short staff. It takes 2-3 hours to try to go through the whole process. And when I needed to do the physical I went in. Did the physical? And I scheduled an appointment for this and it was at 4:30. They didn't get to me. Till 730 and I didn't get out of the place until 9 o'clock and I didn't even get to donate which was very frustra
All staff members and nurses I encountered were friendly, helpful with all questions, and professional. They can get a little busy at times, but bring a charger, headphones, and a small blanket if you tend to get cold. There is WiFi.
My last two visits were very good Alexa and Ryan were particularly good. I do have one suggestion tho. You could possibly stream line the process by only accepting new donors on certain days or by having one section open just for new donors. I have heard several of the older donors complain about the wait time. In particular do to new donors being put ahead of them. As for me, I always schedule my donation so I have plenty of time.
Never going back. Make you do 2 days for the promotion but can turn you down and there is nothing you can do about it. Cant change days each week to make it more flexible because of the stupid 7 day crap. My second day is sunday so i just missed out on my promotion because THEY won't let you change the days. Fun while it lasted i guess
I've had overall pleasant, if not painfully slow, experiences with this BioLife location. I have been donating for a while. Unfortunately, I will no longer donate at this location and will be switching to CSL because my father, a United States veteran and teacher, was racially profiled last night. Do better.
Having a difficult time getting my donation payment from almost a month ago. One of those, call this number and the number tells you to call the other number.
Wow, much better than last year they hired in more help and we are able to get through the process quicker. Thank you.
They were extremely busy, but everyone was very nice to deal with. I had no issues and Ryan was the tech for my first donation. They were all very kind and understanding and professional.
Sometimes, I experience poor needle puncture in which causes bruising. This effects the frequency of me donating. I was a new donor and couldn't meet the promotion period due to poor needle puncture. I had to give myself time to heal. Two visits that I was supposed to receive $110 and $100 to close out the promotion and have a chance to be entered win the $1200 or $1500, I can't remember the exact amount. I was cheating out of that. If I won that would have helped me and my family with bills, food, and the
The wait lines are ridiculous. I understand being short staffed but limit the amount of appointments you take. Sticks are hit and miss literally. Referred someone, staff put my code in wrong was told to give it 2 weeks, mentioned it again and I was told it was to late to do anything about it
Staff is amazing but their management needs work. Got there at 5:25 for my appt and there were over 30 people in line for vitals. One poor girl was taking vitals for everyone by herself. Poor planning as that is when everyone gets off work. It took me 2.5 hours to get to a bed and then when I started the machines in my sections were down, I gave 276 ml and was told the machine had a problem and had to be unhooked.
Very nice and clean place. All the staffs their were really nice and respectful. I will definitely come back ??
Jonathan (from crocker mo) at the Fairview Heights location was great!! He was super friendly, made conversation, and the stick was the smoothest. 11/10 would recommend.
I have been in several times since they opened this location. I always have great interactions with the people who work there. Particularly I wanted to point out the nurse KC, he's always light and funny. And Ryan, who did my initial intake and has done my blood draws a few times. He is always funny and makes the process relaxing.
Wait times are getting better but reimbursements as a return donor are pretty low.
The staff is very friendly and courteous . I would of gave a five star but they are constantly changing the pay structure which changes my mind about going . I am looking into other companies but with BioLife being so close I will probably stay just not donate as much it is not worth my time for 40 dollars .
I have had a great experience at BioLife. They make everything easy, take great care, and they show concern. Marcia is a Great Phlebotomist!!!!
Start with the good. The staff is friendly, the Nurse is amazing, she made me feel so welcome. Now for the bad. The questions are a lot. Way more than any other place I have been and they make you answer then on-site every visit, and won't let you even step outside after you answer them, other places have half as many, and let you answer them on your phone prior to your visit. The pay is okay. I have donated at places lower, but I have also donated just down the street for higher. They need more staff. The
She was very patient and helped with all my questions and concerns
Had a scheduled appointment, which wasn't kept on their end, almost 3 hours later their nurse informed me I couldn't donate because of my bipolar disorder. I felt totally discriminated against! They need to inform potential donors if they have a mental illness, it's going to be a VERY LONG PROCESS!!! If you get to donate at all.
Aleigha or Aliyah (I believe that's how her name is spelled, sorry if not) and Alexa are wonderful phlebotomists. I'm thankful for how Aleigha/Aliyah does the process of inserting the needle, because I never feel pain when she does it where she stretches the skin on the arm. They are both very nice and helpful. Thank you for making my experiences at Biolife well!
Second time in a row that I got Jonathan. He was the best so far!! This last time I didn't even feel the poke and it went very smoothly. I want to request him everytime!!
I've waited in the check in line for an hour while people stand around and look at us and this isn't the first time. If they are so overwhelmed they need to hire more staff. I have gone to other BioLife centers and they don't ever take this long.
The pay should be split even not 40$ for one day then your full payment for the 2nd donation or at bear minimum 60$. Because everyone cant donate 2x a week some of us dont want to either and its wrong to froce us to have to donate twice to get the most out of your donations. Ontop of that if you donate on a friday you cant donate till mon and on monday my biolife is closed, so that means you cant come till Tuesday but your money will reset back to 40$. So then you cant even get your money and it goes back t
Very rude! Spent 4 hours at the facility because they had 4 people working the floor, so the line was ridiculous to begin with. Than 5 different new people showed while I was in line waiting and for some reason they get priority at front of line. Very upsetting. They need to staff more and schedule less people at a time since they can't keep up. Than I had to wait 30 mins after getting a bed to be hooked up and atleast 20 mins when I was done to be Un hooked.
I stopped in at this one while on leave my appointment was for 3 pm. I was still standing in line over an hour later waiting for a bed. Then they are low on normal saline so they hand out Gatorade and crackers. I can't understand the drastic difference in service and setting.
Staff is amazing but they really need chairs for the long wait.. standing in line for an hour or more is crazy. People are literally sitting on the floor waiting on beds.
Everyone at the facility was so friendly and helpful. My nurse, Kendra, was especially great. She made me feel welcome and comfortable and explained the whole process to me. I would highly recommend this location!
Extremely clean facilities, all staff- the desk, nurses ( there are several) and the many phlebotomists are All very friendly. Wait time Can be a bit, but my longest in building was 2? hours and that was day one with the physical, other wise I am in and out in about 1:40 hours, I usually give about 880ml. Highly recommend the Fairview location
Be prepared to wait in line for hours. This facility does not keep their appointments. They are short staffed but still offer the same number of appointment as if they were full staffed, so they run very behind. On top of that, some donors become impatient and start cussing at other donors and staff. No wonder they are short staffed.
If a customer ask low long the bed wait is, you should be able to tell them professionally instead of giving them the run around. That's what managers are for, to be asked questions.
Very knowledgeable! Great stick!! Britt was great!!
My second donation was done by an in-experienced teenager and I was injured. Each time Ive come back Ive been deferred for no reason. Today I tried again and they said they never got my lab results that they took so I couldn't donate and had to re-do labs. This place has been an issue every time. I threw away the debit card and went to CSL plasma. It's much faster and I have never had a single issue there at the O'fallon location. I do not recommend Bio-Life to anyone. It's been a terrible experience.
All the workers are very nice! If it's your first time donating, you might be there for a while (my first donation took about 3 hours in total) but after that, all my visits take about 50-70mins
First time ever donating plasma, and they made it so comfortable. The nurse Ronnie was very thorough and pleasant. My "fixer" Ciara totally rocks it and has the answers for everything ?? I can't wait until my next appointment!!
Remarkable staff & management who were very organized & knowledgeable. I highly recommend anyone to utilize their services. This was my first donation & I observed other clients engaging in friendly conversation with other clients and staff. Everyone was cheerful & time flew quickly. Help assist BioLife in saving lives & be apart of something great.
The staff at check in were friendly and professional. The staff at the plasma machine area were professional, excellent at their job and very friendly. Everything moved along at a good pace.
I've been coming here for a little over a month now now. It seemed all right at first. But I don't know what kind of high school graduates they hire to screen. But they are about useless. Called me up right after screening another gentleman, didn't change her gloves. When I asked about it said that it's not necessary after each person. This is while she was being shadowed by. It looked like two Higher ups, I suppose. You would think they would say hey you're right let's do that. I personally don't need aids
I only been here a few time, and I'm new in town and trying to stop Partying. I can feel like it can be a hang out spot like something to do do a good deed and chill. Real relax place there in Fairview Heights. The people in there are very friendly and nice service and it's a clean area.
Honestly, it is so warm hearted and welcoming here. The staff are amazing, the energy is so up lifting. Roni is a giant superstar and sweetheart. Will definitely be telling friends to donate here.
Very competent staff! Process is quick and easy!
I went here to donate, after sitting there for 3 hours for the initial process, I was told that I couldnt donate because I broke my neck 52 years ago. Why is that an issue, I have absolutely no lasting affects from that injury, it makes no sense to me but oh well, I am able to donate at another local facility.
I had high hopes for this place but after a few visits, I wont go back. First off, the nurse is amazing! She was so friendly and made me feel welcome, thats the one star!. It started off great with 4 visits at $125 each, and then I kept asking what the pay was after that and the staff said they didnt know, so I donated and it was $40!! I use to make $50 a visit in 1995! I complained but they told me to check the app for my next amount, which was $70 if I came in a second time that week, however, we got a l
nurse Sheina was very nice, helpful , and she answered all my question with a positive attitude. She was very quick and careful with the procedures . I would definitely recommend her to a new donor . Great work ethic . she's very cheerful and enthusiastic. Also took the time to ask ?how my day is going ? Shacolby S
Staff are very friendly and the place is very clean. Honestly, that's about all I can compliment. Since day 1 there have been issues going here. My first appointment took over 4 hours! Second appointment I was stuck in both arms and bruised pretty bad which made me miss my next appointment. Third appointment took the cake. I was hooked up on my right arm and told them it hurt and the cuff was tight. The guy messed with the machine and walked away. Another lady happened to look and said my arm looked blue.
I was told I was an eligible donar online, scheduled appointment, drove an hour and 11 min to the center only to be told I can not donate due to my medication! Why would they not ask this question before having someone make the trip? Now I am currently sitting in the parking lot deciding how the !%@$ I'm going to make it home with an almost empty tank of gas! Thanks BioLife!! If someone is going to lie to you about their medication they are going to do it no matter when the question is asked....Most people
I went to give plasma for the first time and went through each process fine. When I got to the physical the nurse informed me because of a neck fusion. An injury fixed with surgery, I will never be able to give plasma. Because it sounds like I am wheezing or have a cold of some kind when I breathe
Ryan is amazing! You are very lucky to have him. He has great customer service!
The staff is very friendly and helpful. And they do their best to keep you comfortable and on time.
Good job all, BioLife doing big things in Fairview heights!!! Ryan took me in like one of his own.... Thank you again, I've found a place to be proud of and thankful for the people who work here.
There won't be but one more time that I come I've donated my body to science over 25 years to help others. Majority has been volunteer no pay. I love it either way, but what I don't love is how employees think it's ok to have an outside voice with the donors. No need to elevate period in such a small environment. You give those people authority it goes to their head that's why I retired from law enforcement after my pension because we are all Gods children and my strict parents don't even speak to me this w
It's a very clean environment & all the employees are so nice. Go here to donate plasma & you'll walk out feeling refreshed like wearing a fresh pair of new sneakers. I absolutely love it & will be back soon.
Unprofessional at its finest. Employees that are extra slow and unkind. I was rejected to donate because an employee was upset about me not voicing my complaints. I'd take at least 2 hrs out of my day if you plan on donating.
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
