URGENT SAFETY WARNING: Multiple Life-Threatening Violations at BioLife Plasma Services What I witnessed over two visits represents a systematic breakdown of basic medical safety protocols that puts every donor at serious risk. THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS: Cross-Contamination Protocol Violations During my most recent visit, I watched in horror as my phlebotomist (Tatum) moved directly from my donation chair to another patient to ?adjust his needle,? WITHOUT washing her hands, changing gloves, or following ANY in
Went in for my first donation and all the employees were absolutely great. The staff was kind and all had smiles and very helpful. They checked on me several times during donation to make sure I was ok. Clean facility with fast, friendly staff.
Employees are great! Not sure what is going on with the scheduling system or possibly their staffing numbers?!?? Arrived for my 3:05 appointment and !!27!! people were in line ahead of me, not including those who were seated and donating. I go to this location because it's closest to me, but I've heard from other donors of 3+ years that the other locations are not as busy or as long of a wait. The wait makes it almost too much of a hassle to donate and for what is offered as a reward is less than adequate f
Hi, I've been a BioLife donor since 2021 and I want to say I don't think the new nomogram determination is good at all. I'm donating more while being paid the same as before. With the old system if I was to donate a few ml more than expected, I would have to see a nurse. Now it's safe for me to donate 200 more? That's ridiculous. The lines are even longer because donations take an extra cycle ; I waited an hour in line today. Please stop doing your faithful donors like this. The ethics of plasma donation i
Done trying to donate waisted way to much time and money in gas just to have to start the new patient screening process over again every single time because my pulse is barely too high 100 to 105. I've checked my pulse before going, and I've checked my pulse at the pharmacy never is it that high not to mention don't risk going there and get your car broken into. I just left there after getting turned away again and my rear window was broken out glass everywhere I'm done F this place.
If you value your health and well being and time avoid this place at all costs. Long wait times are the least of the issues with this location. Staff is the most unfriendly I have ever encountered, you'll be lucky if they even acknowledge you let alone greet you. The higher amounts of plasma they are taking is absolutely absurd. During my last donation, at the end of one of the collection cycles, Kellen insisted that my needle needed to be adjusted. My machine was not alerting and everything felt fine. His
Walker location has some of the sweetest and caring people I've ever met. Went in nervous but I couldn't have gotten a better experience anywhere else! I'm not a fan of pain, soreness, needles, blood, etc., so it wasn't easy. Thank you for making me feel comfortable and keeping me at ease. 100% recommend this location!
I arrived at my appointment at 2:45 PM, even though I was scheduled for 3:10 PM. I walked into the clinic at 3:00 PM, and the receptionist told me to take a seat, assuring me that someone would be with me shortly. However, I was ignored for an hour while sitting in the waiting area. Later, a new receptionist arrived and claimed she ?didn't see me,? despite making eye contact with me multiple times. It was the most unprofessional place I've ever been to.
Absolutely ridiculous this place is beyond unprofessional. They lost my blood samples from my first donation and deferred me from donating for 2 weeks and then refused to honor the end of the promotion that payed out the most per visit. Was told on the phone by nurse on day I deferred that theyd honor my promotion. Then when I actually get to the date and do they honor their word? Absolutely not. Do not donate here.
Surprisingly fast and little wait if u keep your appt. Phlebotomist is yet to miss a vein so no restick. This is impressive as I am usually an extremely difficult stick. My experience has honestly been stellar.
So what did I learned about wildlife as they say? You make $90 $80 $90 and your visits. But what they do is for your super 6 visits. They're gonna deny and Defer you., And this is done, so you don't have to pay so much.Every time you go to biological plasma. It counts as a time that you've been there. It's in their claws if you read, So they did not have 6 times and say lies that your Blood Pressure was elevated.Or something that they made up.Then you leave the candidates of visit and that's plus when I they
Staff doesn't give a hell about anyone. Doesn't respect your communication. They talk crap about each other and they have always been decent, but I'm feeling the difference in the entire environment and experience
You guys have to figure out how to greet people who obviously need help at the front desk. Standing here for 15 minutes while the people at the front desk don't even acknowledge you is an issue, especially when I show up 10 minutes early for my physical. Even knowing that there's some kind of time frame that I will be helped in, is again ESSENTIAL to customer service. Thanks.
The staff is really nice and professional. I appreaciated the inclusive attmosphere, and felt very safe and calm even tho needles are not my favorite thing.
I had a very good Experience at this BioLife plasma center Lucas was incredible so are all the other staff members who work here? Lucas was pretty friendly. He made me feel as comfortable as possible.
This place is garbage the system they have to check you in for a new donor only works for some people. The nurse at the front had no idea what she was doing and how to check me in. I was rejected because I had everything I needed (my id and my ssn), but their system did not work, and I get rejected because of it. I am in good health, an American citizen, and they do not want to pay for donations.
Please Book/Staff your facility properly! If we're forced to wait 40 minutes to have my vitals checked, at least let us sit the whole time. Chairs are a fairly primitive invention that could highly improve the donor experience. Utilize them more than just for shitty donors to sit in while they wait for their wonky metrics to subside.
My local biolife center practices in both deciept , false advertisement, and is now trying to take more ML of plasma then approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In my opinion this is just more corporate greed at the expense of its consumers long term health. I am no longer interested in donating at BioLife Plasma Services- Walker Center Drive and will give CSL a try. I hope anyone that reads this comment will do the same. By their own admission I was offered a $115 payout this week only to find
Only location I can donate. The people here are so good and genuinely care about you. I was having difficulty donating bc my BPM was too high and I was denied 4 times at another location. But the people at this location were able to help me with that and made sure I was able to donate. I had only been to the location once before and they remembered me and my difficulty in donating. They came over to say congratulations once I was finally able to donate. It was the little things that meant a lot. This locati
Everyone here is super friendly and helpful. The donating process is pretty simple once you get through the initial check in process, it is not painful to donate, and you can make some extra money and help others that is an all-around reward!
I just did my first donation. Everything went really well. All my numbers and whatnot came out out great. I did almost pass out in the bed before I was done donating, but the nurse and doctor were with me so fast and stopped it from happening. I got really hot really quick. They grabbed some ice packs and cooled me down and had some Gatorade and gold fish for me. :) I waited a bit to make sure I was good drive. they made an embarrassing moment not embarrassing and very comfortable. Thank you ladies!
Had donated at this location for 5 years, was deferred because I didn't have photo proof of when I gotten my tattoo (over 4 months before)..very disappointed
The place was very busy today as a result of some staff calling in sick. Despite this, the staff remained diligent and courteous. I was very impressed by their hard work and good attitude.
I've been coming to this BioLife location for almost a year, and a big reason I keep coming back is the staff. When you first walk in, you are greeted by friendly faces like Jada, Easton, Ross, and Sarah who efficiently manage the line. The phlebotomists make it feel like less of a procedure by engaging in conversation and showing that they truly care about you as a person. Maddie, Jesica, and Mary are exemplary phlebotomists that I look forward to seeing when I visit. Can't forget about the amazing nurses
Someone needs to tell the elderly man in the glasses on second shift that he doesn't need to nearly break finger tips to get blood samples. Never in my years of donating have I had someone so flipping aggressive with their lancets.
The line is a mile long wrapping around the room almost to the second line up.spot when your waiting for an actual machine to donate at this is bull there is only 1 tech doing intake currently
Be careful. They are using a new formula for plasma. Taking much more than just two weeks ago. Now they're making more of our donations.
This will probably be my last time coming to this location. It seems to be increasingly short-staffed. I've been sitting here on a bed for 30 minutes now, and two other people who have been waiting longer than me were just now acknowledged and helped. They should not have these extra stations open if they don't have the proper staff to help people once you get past your vitals. No one has said anything to me this whole time I've been waiting and I'm about to just walk out. Edit* Waited several more minutes
Nothing but a positive experience with EACH employee i have dealt with. From the front to the back. I wish everyplace, everyone else dealt with people with such positivity. It is easy to see, point out what's wrong in society, but seeing the good/ what's working takes a little practice
My time at biolife has been great so far! Staff is friendly! I hate needles to much and I have Madison poke me every time, she has such a soft poke. You can barely feel it go in. I HIGHLY recommend her for your first poke!
Why is it everytime i come here, there is never enough front counter people up front? You would think y'all would have more than just 2. Your wait times on sections is ridiculous or you have sections closed that should be open. Staff is Very nice and polite with the interaction I've had with them. It has gotten better over the past few months but fix the other issues..
I was impressed with the process of donation, and was treated with kindness, respect and patience by every staff member that interacted with me!
They are constantly changing the rules! I was told I only had to wait a month after surgery and I could come back like normal, now they say they have to have a drs note pushing donations back again I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO BIOLIFE
I used to think very highly of BioLife they were on point no problems been doing it for years but in the past couple of months my opinion of them kind of went down some lately the past couple of months they've been training new employees and a lot of them new employees are having a hard time finding the right vein to put the needle in on not just me but on other donors too couple months ago I was deferred for 8 weeks due to blood loss but it was not my fault it was the employees now I got deferred for anoth
Long lines, usually only 1 or 2 people in front to take vitals and 9 times outta 10 you wait longer to get your finger poked and wait again to get hooked up to machine, than it would be to donate. One person tells you one thing about there procedures and another with tear your head off if not done how they want not like it was just explained. People need some extra money and because of that this cog will keep going. Thank God it's my last week forced to go to this particular center.
The staff is amazing and always engaging! Though I do feel for them when there are so many donors and it's jam packed in the facility. There has been quite a few times where I've had to be there for about 3 hours on a regular donation. When I'm usually done with in an hour of my appointments. You can tell the staff feels overwhelmed at times but still do their best to get donors going. The most important things is that they are gentle and caring. Some times I wonder if corporate even cares how bad they are
This place is garbage they overbook today I was deferred because they couldn't get an accurate reading on my temperature but everything else went through just fine I am in good health I feel perfectly fine. I will never be going back to this building again they do not have enough employees and only defer you because of that reason because they cannot keep up with the donations coming in. They also do not want to pay out the new donor bonus which I assume is part of the reason why they defer you. Do not go t
Very long wait time and over booked. I waited to be poked in the chair for 50 minutes. 50. This is AFTER already waiting for my finger poke. I got up and left, nobody has time for that, especially after waiting for a chair in general!!! I used to donate at Grandville and be in and out within an hour. Do NOT waste your time at this location. This location needs to stop offering so many appointments if they don't have the staff to support it.
The Walker location is absolute chaos. It takes 2+ hours to donate. It's unorganized?. It should not take that long?. I've moved my donations to a different location and it takes an hour maybe an hour and 15 to complete a donation?. As it should be. The final straw at the Walker location was the 20+ people in front of me for vitals?. Just to get my finger poked took over an hour?. That's unacceptable?. Without donors there is no Biolife. You should really figure out how to be more efficient. If you a
I've donated plasma here three times now. Each time I've come to this location, I have always felt like I am in good hands. The staff are all very friendly and it never feels awkward, even when you are still figuring out the whole process lol. While you are making your donation, if anything feels wrong and you need to get someone's attention, they quickly come to your aid and accommodate you as needed until you are feeling better. Many staff members I've spoken to also happen to have great music taste! Ther
Good place to go. The staff is very professional and caring, and you're doing a good deed.
Normally Donating is very speedy and enjoyable. Saturdays donation not so much. Only half the facilities machines were available due to call-ins and management again not staffing properly incase this happens. People were upset how slow service was. Felt bad for the workers they did the best they could. It's unfortunate upper management keeps putting there team in this situation over and over again.
Merissa is the best nurse here to be honest. She's super nice and has a positive attitude with a beautiful smile. She made me feel comfortable my first time there and really knows how to talk to the guests. Make sure you say hello to merissa when you are there, it will make your day.
I've been going to Bio Life off and on for years. The last time I went, about 6 weeks ago, approximately, there was a young, new to me person working that "poked" my arm. I told her it was uncomfortable and she backed it off a little bit. I got through two cycles and on my third my arm started to feel tight, like it was filling with air. The machine dinged, and I also said out loud 'this is uncomfortable". It still took her several minutes to come over. When she did, she asked me if it hurt, and I tol
The location is always over booked, 1hr 30 minutes before I even got to a bed and started donating. What is the point of making appointments and allowing the location to overbook? The staff was great but people shouldn't have to wait so long after a scheduled appointment time.
My experience was a lot better than I imagined. Staff was very courteous and helped ease my concerns. Took longer than I expected but the return was well worth the wait. Thank you for everything you do.
Reduce the number of appointments at a time. The wait time to be processed, get a chair, get poked, and then disconnected is ridiculous! I used to be able to do a total donation in 45 minutes now it's at least an hour and a half!
Everyone there makes you feel comfortable and at ease with the whole process.
It had been a few months since I had been to Biolife but upon my return, Carmen, the wonderful staff member who assisted me with my visit, made it an extremely enjoyable experience. Carmen, if you're reading this by any chance, I can't thank you enough for being so awesome! You the best ^^
I've donated on and off for almost 15 years and have had good and OK experiences. I'm leaving the review to call out Kelsey who processed me this afternoon. She was so attentive to details with myself and others. She predicted needs and handled everything with grace and excellence. I was shocked that she's only worked there for 4 months. Thanks!
There are 3 BioLife in Grand Rapids area and this is far the worst one. Do yourself the favor and go to the one on 28th street or Grandville. You'll be a lot quicker and much better professional wise.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the process is very smooth and almost pain-free :-)
Waited over one hour and 20 minutes for my bed. My appointment was at 6:30 did not get to a bed until 7:50 . Your are not short staff you are overbook! It is like you do not care about our time. The Walker location is horrible. I live on that side of town but it is better for me to drive across the entire city to go the the Kentwood location. Way better run location. Walker is joke and has been for years!
Def can be understaffed most times. Long wait periods discourage ME from coming a lot of times. Staff can be polite for the most part.
I have gone here a few times, and it's one of the worst places?mainly for the check in process. The line is always extremely long, despite the technicians rushing through the line. When they rush through the process, it causes my heart rate to speed up, deferring me. The actual donation portion (if I end up getting to that point) is not bad at all. If I make an appointment for 5pm, I'm usually there until almost 7pm because of how congested the line is. Either they are booking too many people or they have n
I'm sorry but it was Bad. Saturday I went, there definitely wasn't enough help and I was there for over 2 Hours. Maybe even 2 and a half hours. Worst than getting a physical. The other parts went good. Just had to wait forever.
Excellent job by all. Very friendly and kind place to be. Just stay healthy and your good to go. Thank you Jeff Miller
I girst started a month ago on a promotion. I wanted to do good for those who need the help, and make an income, too. Now, I am so impressed with Biolife! Excellent staff, very clear and straight forward instructions and support! I love this organization!
clara is great, didn't even feel when she put the needle in ????????
Friendly, easy process, they make you comfortable with the steps, clean, and not busy.
I have gotten nothing but good vibes from people and here and energies. People are so nice and the process is very fast.
Very nice, friendly and accommodating people. A job well done to all the people that works there! My first donation done, nice and easy!
NOT HAPPY ?? DRIVE TO MY APOINTMENT EARLY MORNING. TO BE TOLD I CANT DONATE. WHY DIDN'T I RECEIVE A EMAIL STATING WHAT WAS WRONG. IM ON A FIXED INCOME AND GAS IS NOT FREE. 17 MIN DRIVE from my home. I sat there for 20 minutes.i had already donated 2 times. I guess I have some kind of virus. Bad for user ??
I'm not sure how they have a 3.8 rating. If I could give them a 10/5 I would. I've donated at so many BioLife as well as CSL locations, this location is the absolute best! All of the employees are happy and super considerate. Carmen, Clara, and Jessica are the absolute best!
I have been donating plasma for over a year now, and I have also tried other locations/service providers. At the end of the day, I went with biolife, and I chose this location due to travel convenience. With this being said, no phlebotomist is perfect. I have encountered mistakes at times, but still feel there services are above par. Like any other service, they have to push for more donations in order to compete. They do get busy some times, and some times you are waiting for your chair. However, I have no
My first visit to Biolife was a wonderful experience. Great staff! My time was well utilized and my appointment flowed nicely. Thank you for a great first impression!
The staff at BioLife were pleasant and professional. The machines are state of the art and the building is kept clean. I cannot list any complaints from my experiences.
Every time I go in, the staff make me feel welcomed and comfortable with their friendliness, and always answer any questions - I feel like I learn something new each time I'm in. I've never donated plasma before starting at this biolife, and the experience I've had keeps me coming back! Additionally, Luka does a great job and I always feel I'm in good hands when they're the phlebotomist who gets me set up.
I donated and they never put my money on the card. I would not recommend
The long wait is a pain. It's also very frustrating when you have to wait 35 minutes to be hooked up after the protein test. The icing on the cake is when they ignore you and hook up people after you've been waiting 35 minutes.
Luca was fabulous, I didn't even feel her poke me. She was very informative and compassionate during my donation session.
The staff here are very caring genuine people. They always make you feel comfortable even if you're nervous! Jada and Lucas are basically 90% of the reason I continue to return to BioLife. They are kind, considerate, and patient. I would absolutely recommend giving BioLife a try if you want to donate plasma or even need a little extra cash.
Apparently they like for you to be rude and not have any manners ! I tried to complete the questionnaire on the computer it told me to see an employee for help . I sat in the chairs since the front desk lady already had someone in the seat and another person waiting on her . After the person in the chair left she called up the other person seated and began to help them . While helping them another lady comes up to the desk for help and the front desk lady has no problem greeting her and asking what she nee
The staff is very friendly and I've never had any real problems coming here. My only complaint is lately my wait time has been longer than usual. Today my "appointment" was scheduled for 1:15pm, however I'm number 22 in line to wait to get my vitals, finger poke etc. I was here few days ago for my first donation of the week and had to wait 35 minutes even after I was in the donor chair waiting on a tech to hook me up to the machine. Not sure if they have been short staffed lately or what. I
Normally, I have a great experience here and I choose this specific location, even though it is not closest to home, because of the staff. Unfortunately, I had the displeasure of being ?helped? at the front counter by Sharon today. Sharon, should not be working customer service. Her attitude was absolutely vile. She was inconsiderate and down right rude. I asked a question and she simply replied ?I don't have access? and then continued on. A couple minutes go by and I ask if she was going to get somebody to
The company may care About the people that receive the plasma, but they do not care about the people that donate the plasma. They know that there are tons of people that need the money so as much as the advertise how many lives you are affecting on the backend they don't care about the people that are donating on the front end.
The staff was very friendly and super helpful. Meli did an exceptional job of making me feel really comfortable donating for the first time. I would highly recommend this location to anyone.
Friendly staff working hard to keep us moving..been coming here since 2012... best facility in our area.
Your new system for donations takes more plazma from me and the pay does not change. Thats totally wrong.
Cody (I think that's his name) and Alexa are a delight to see every time I go in there to donate. They have very fun and welcoming personalities. Everyone that has spoke to me there is kind, profession, and informative. I appreciate the welcoming and clean environment.
Come listen to slim shady and luda while you donate in an hour. Seriously if your going to CSL, STOP! These guys make CSL look so bad. Top notch place, in and out in a hour, if your mad it's you, not them. 11 out of 10 stars, fantastico job everyone
Tried East Paris and realized how poorly run Walker is in the past two years. No receptionist, two to three history takers. 13-20 people in line. No sense of urgency by anyone. Haven't seen a manager in two years. Completely different in East Paris. Both managers helping on the floor. five in line. Five history takers. Every step of the process is like clockwork.
So far so good. Had a couple techs that couldn't find my veins off for8 weeks didn't like that so much. But back on track so far techs are very kind and caring and the Doctors as well.
I know you read these, Maddie. ?? In all seriousness though, the staff here are awesome. Very friendly, and keep great bedside manner and calm under pressure. The amount of time it takes to get through the check in line can be a little ridiculous at times. But if I'm going to get the blood sucked from my body, I'd rather do it here. I'm never going back to Dr. Acula?s office again. Not sure what he did but I'm allergic to the sun now.
I have been donating for almost 2 years at the Walker location. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The facility is very clean and efficient. I love that I can get in and out fast so I'm not wasting half my day like I have with other plasma companies! Also the music choices are on point!
Very helpful and friendly staff. I would give five stars except I can't stand their fingerprint machines for the intake questionnaire. I know it's a known issue and lots of donors have stated the same thing, but hopefully they can get a better vendor for expediting the process. The lines at this location are also pretty long While the moment you begin pumping to being ready for disconnect is only about 20 minutes to a half hour, expect to be here for about 90 minutes typically because of long lines and wai
Staff are great but Walker, MI location seems to be understaffed (even more so lately) and over scheduled with donors. Took me two hours my first appointment this week and an hour and a half to complete a donation this morning with the majority of that time standing in line after initial intake. Either open up more chairs or don't schedule as many donor appointments.
The staff are amazing and personable. The process is generally pretty quick, though certain times of day it can take a looooong time to get through the line. From the looks of it they are only using a int half the facility?s capacity And it's often difficult to get or move an appointment. Not sure if they're having a hard time staffing for full capacity or what, but they are generally booked open to close a couple weeks in advance, and opening up those other stations would increase their capacity/productivi
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
