This location is awful. Go to another one. Never answers their phones will defer you if you so much as blink in the wrong direction, and then make up pathetic reasoning to permanently defer you from BioLife if you showcase any emotion. I had a deferral from years ago when I had an ear infection. No big deal just needed to do a blood draw to verify I was clear of whatever elevated thing I had. Took an hour and a half to get to that point, and then took them a month to get back to me. Could not reach anyone
I have very hard veins to find and this was my first time donating so of course I was extremely nervous. The staff at the Hampton location were very kind and took very good care of me. They made sure I had eaten enough prior to donating. The phlebotomist found my vein and inserted the needle the first try. I was very impressed and it did not hurt! I would come back here again.
I had a phenomenal experience! My donation went fast, easy, and the staff were beyond sweet. They were also very helpful with any questions or concerns I had and offered me both water and snacks. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking to donate plasma!!! Thank you Bio Life!
You're told you can donate as long as bruises are not within 3 inches of a good vein on both arms. My bruising was related to muscle recovery and was 3+in. away from my veins. No issue with donating previously. Deferred and told it has to be fully healed. Don't consider plasma donation if you do deep tissue recovery because the effects will have you deferred. Otherwise phlebotomists are friendly and kind. Some are funny too
If I could give them 0 stars, I definitely would. The customer service is terrible, and they truly need some Phone Etiquette classes. I had an appointment scheduled and called to ask about the grace period, and the lady who answered her name was Lois. Was incredibly rude and rushed me off the phone before I had even finished my sentence. Then when I tried to call back, my call was declined. After reading the reviews I am very glad I didn't donate at this location, the staff needs some hospitality lessons. I
I like going to BioLife, I feel like I'm making a difference and the extra money goes a long way. It just seems like over the weekends they don't have enough staff to handle the increased number of customers coming in. You let us pick our times and come in but then it can take about 45-60 minutes before you get hooked up to donate. Just bringing it up in case anything can help. I would give 5 stars but because of that it leaves room for improvement.
Well, you try to do a good thing, admittedly in exchange for a small taste of financial support... no such luck. These folks are much more concerned with being 100.00% free of anything akin to accountability or involvement than getting your actual blood plasma, no matter your blood type. I've been giving blood most of my afuktvlife with no drama and no complications... ever. Occasionally my BP or heart rate got me sent home with a 'try again later', and that's *very* understandable. In my case I had a *
It's been better ! Everyone?s Nice and you can request who you want to find ur vein and stick you. I have 5 ppl I usually ask for. Because my veins is small. And they really good on placing the needle.
I always have a positive experience at this location. The only thing that I have encountered is new staff doing a stick sometimes have to reposition the needle several times causing bruising. This then unfortunately prohibits you from donating until the bruising goes away.
My bloodwork was flagged for a false positive. I have since been cleared by my dr but no one from the facility has reviewed my case to allow me to donate again. It has been over a month & I've been given the run around for weeks! Incredibly unprofessional & unpleasant experience. Have reached out to corporate for support
Love it here! Way better then grifols and octopharma. Everyone is so sweet and kind! Machines are way better to! And they are really good stickers no fishing!
I enjoy being able to donate at Biolife. It's clean, and the app is helpful to use. The screeners seem to pick and choose who to be professional to, which doesn't seem right. Other than that I look forward to returning!
Please read before deciding to donate at this center. My awful first impression completely changed my perspective. My second donation experience was terrible. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, completed the questionnaire, and then waited in line for over 30 minutes to have my blood pressure checked. However, I was pulled aside and treated like a suspect for accidentally answering one of the questions incorrectly. After being questioned in a private room, I was told to go back and wait in line a
Im not comfortable with the lack of experience I have noticed in my last few visits. My last visit has caused me to have nerve damage in my arm due to a bad injection in my vein. They had to stop the process due to swelling in my arm. It's been over a month since that visit and still my arm is in pain. This makes the second time in a month they had made a mistake hooking me up.
I used to come here for years, and every single time I went there were issues. Ignoring those things and continuing to come here thinking it would get better and that I was donating my plasma for a good cause was wasting my time. You could be waiting 4 hours total to get $40 for your donation. Wrong company to be spending your time with and giving your plasma to for them to treat you like a number, like cattle. The staff here are more often than not unhelpful and rude. I have run into issues every time I ha
It's a nice place and more upgraded then other places I've been to the staff is ok the people are friendly.. I will recommend others to check out this facility so far so good because I'm a new donar.
Becareful not to breathe to hard before you donate the face nurse's might assest that your sick even tho you are not. So if they don't feel like working they can just say he sniffed send you home and make there day easier.. easy little they have to have less work to do. I went back again this time they told me I couldn't donate because I have exema and its not safe to stick me.. these people are lazy and looking to turn you away. Go to octapharma or grifols . Do not waste your time here. Worst plasma cente
The facility is always clean and the staff is great. I would donated twice a week, every week if the company would stop screwing around with the amount they pay for donations. If they keep it up, I might check out another Plasma donation company.
If I could give this center a negative 5 star rating, I WOULD! My boyfriend donated plasma plenty of times and decided to go here today. He left perfectly fine and came back with his arms wrapped and unable to move after getting stuck with a needle 6 times. He had every employee there to help him out, and NOBODY knew the machine was malfunctioning. I called to speak with them and figure out why there isn't a procedure for this issue, they're reason was because the plasma center is old and maybe donating isn
Now I see why their reviews are so horrible. Went through the beginning process for two hours (which they state multiple times will take one hour) only to be told that because I was honest about getting lightheaded toward the end of normal blood donations and just need to prop my feet up and be drinking something they wouldn't allow me to donate due to ?safety concerns?. Then when I explained there's no way to ?prove? to them that I'll be ok they still tried to give me a ?Come Back? card and refused me any
my new donor day went awfully. there were about 10 workers upfront and i was 10 minutes early for my appointment however i sat for 30 minutes (40 minutes the next day) after checking in without any help. this being the longer donation day i would've expected someone to help me right away. i wouldn't have wanted to wait around for someone to get ready to assist me. i would go to octapharma for that. i recommend doing the new donor payments and then leaving this center.
I've been donating for several months now. It has helped me to stay motivated to take care of my health and it feels good to help others. As long as I'm hydrated, relaxed, and have eaten well, I'm in and out in less than 75 minutes. The employees are professional and many are very fun and friendly. There is high adherence to cleanliness standards and their rules for donating. The pay is more than fair and much appreciated.
The employees there are good workers mostly love joking around and conversating w them. Some can stick better than others. Sometimes I request certain people cuz not all are good stickers. I know most of them. Y name. The thing I'm having a problem w Is tht the wait times are becoming ridiculous. 2 n 3 hrs there isn't right. I came there because they have appointments time get in and out. Jus to see if u passed to donate is now taking 45 mins in line then u waiting for a chair then u have to donate. It's ge
I was poorly received and could not donate because I did not speak English, even with all my documents in hand.
I came in for my donation appt on 9/21/24. I passed all prescreening requirements. I got my bed and when the machine started after two minutes it made from weird noise. The staff member who unhooked me told me he had to because the machine was not safe and that I was not properly hooked up. He said that I would still get paid. It was my second donation of the week set to pay $95. So I got patched up and wet home. It is now four days later and no payment has still been received. The manager at Biolife, Elli
The people have excellent customer service. I was stressed and would always have a raised pulse when I got there, I guess it was white coat syndrome and stress about money. Ken talked to me and we had an awesome conversation, I feel a lot better after talking to him. One time I was exactly 10 minutes late, and Lois allowed me to still donate. I am just always impressed with the people there.
First time donating plasma anywhere. Staff were very friendly, the facility was clean, and the equipment was clean as well. Just make sure you bring a jacket or small blanket! Sandals and shorts were a bad choice on my part! Lesson learned. The initial appointment is longer but I was prepared for that because my dad donates for another company and gave me a heads up.
The building is clean! The staff is professional, has personality, and comforting. It's like family in a form. They get to know you after going twice a week. Devon is amazing!. I personally request him every time. He really goes above and beyond. All the staff watches their patients very well and are very attentive. From the beginning of the physical exam, which was easy, To give me a little snack and me giving him my first donation, To make sure I was comfortable my first time in the chair, From watching m
Confusing and misleading. I have eczema and I've had it my entire life so if you have it on your arms good luck. No one?s on the same page I've donated multiple times before but then some won't let you donate. I had a few scratch cuts on my arm, the first nurse says a certain part of it has to heal and that part healed. I come back and then this nurse says my entire arm it was just confusing and frustrating. It's a shame cause almost everyone in there is nice and patient and will work with you. I literally
A well maintained establishment. Staff is attentive to your questions and you throughout the process.
Very clean and everyone was super nice. Angel really made me feel very comfortable.
The nurse that attended me was very nice and careful. She is always at the vitals desk with a natural smile, but yesterday she was at the back with the process, I guess she was learning as she was with a supervisor as well, and she was able to do all the process smooth, and also with her natural smile. She is for sure an asset at BioLife!
Coming all the way from Chesapeake it took my girlfriend and I 45 minutes one way to come here for an initial appointment to donate plasma. I have donated at other plasma donation facility?s (Octapharma to name one) and I have to say, this place is the worst experience I have ever had. The company procedures are extremely haphazard and all over the place. The first lady that helped me was welcoming, helpful and understanding. However? after the wait, I dealt with Marty with pricking my finger and checking
Was talking calmly to the nurse about filling out the form for PTSD when I told her I had it already filled out and returned it. But I would take it to my doctor again to have it filled out. I told her I remember bringing it back because the nurse last time was super rude about it because I felt the form was super rude and ignorant. But even my doctor said that most medical fields don't cross. It doesn't ask about the triggers of someone with PTSD and to see of your environment was safe for someone with su
Since the first day I walked through the doors, first donation I have had no issue, felt comfortable and have had great experiences. Please know that not everyone can be a donor for medical reasons...and sometimes to may not be able to donate for medical reasons, and although you have a wait time, they do value your time. The longest it took me to donate was the first time.....and every other time was quick. There he been a few times where wait time to get the process started was there...but be mindful of t
I've always had a professional, clean, and pleasant time in BioLife. I have nothing but good things to say.
Such a professional and courteous staff. I look forward to my visits and I feel good knowing my donation is helping people.
Amazing staff. On top of checking in on you and taking you off the machine as soon as possible when done
Most all the staff is kind and professional. It's great to be able to give back in this way. They need to fix the ladies restroom though
Most of the staff is so kind and polite. But the manager of the whole building, Seth, is a complete douche. The pay is not as great as other donation sites and there's only 4 locations in the whole state so everything has to be scheduled out weeks in advance. BUT I will say the techs are great and the location is clean. So if you can avoid the horrible manager, you're probably going to be ok.
I started out here as the first time donor and was really glad in the beginning as everyone seemed really nice. The facility is clean and organized, and I like that you have to set appointments and it's usually very timely. However, a little into my second month I've noticed a change in staff, encountering impatience, rudeness, and attitude. It could be that in the beginning I was coming in the morning and the atmosphere was more relaxed versus coming in the late afternoon / evening where it seems unfriendl
I have been to all the plasma centers on the peninsula and this one is hands down the best place! First you must have an appointment. This is an excellent practice because it eliminates long lines and you don't have to wait a couple of hours to be screened only to be told your blood pressure is too high or your proteins too low. This practice also prevents staff from picking and choosing whom they take next. This place is CLEAN, ORGANIZED & EFFICIENT! The staff appear well-trained and seem to love thei
To start, the first appointment took almost 4 hours, which is double what the websites stated. Then, in 7 attempts of donating I only had 3 successful donations. And those failures were unfortunately machine and personnel malfunctions, which was extremely frustrating. It was honestly way more work than it was worth. Will not continue because the drive, the unknown if I'll have a successful donation and the decreased compensation after promo is not worth it.
Everyone is overall friendly and respectful. I've been probably about 10-15 times now and only twice with the same person have I had a needle stick to actually hurt. I know a person can't choose who sticks them, but if I could choose any associate to stick me (pause) every time, it would be the associate Seth. I barely noticed I was stuck (no Diddy) until 3 seconds after it was already done.
Completely unprofessional. Just like other plasma centers on the peninsula: only a care about the people they already know. They don't want new donors and discourage them, which is against corporate stadards. They disqualify potentilal new for the pettiest of reasons. Have allergies and perfume affects them, disqualified. If potential new donors are not sent by referral from a donor they already know. Disgusting. They're supposed to be in the helping profession. And caring in the medical profession , especi
I've given plasma at multiple locations throughout my years. This facility by far has the best trained staff. Everyone follows rules and regulations very strictly, but at the same time are always courteous and polite.. The equipment they use is high tech and new. Unlike other facilities, I've never had a machine stop working or a donation not be completed. The one complaint I do have is Corporate is greedy. They are paying the lowest out of all other facilities. When you decide to stop being greedy and pa
Before this experience I had no issues with this place. However, my last experience in there was terrible, the worker whose name is Elliott was very disrespectful towards me and that person was making racial remarks under his breath. I called multiple times to make a complaint to the manager however no one is answering the phone. Do better BioLife!!!
Don't go unless you have a spotless health record. Wasted almost 4 hours here today. Was disqualified due to something that should have been on the website information. Instead I wasted an entire afternoon. Shoddy operation all around. Nice people but the whole process needs to be radically streamlined. Just a simple list of health issues that would have disqualified me would have saved me 2 hours of travel time and 4 hours in the facility.
I'm close to completing my new donor period here. It was my first ever donation experience and I thought it was really good! I've had issues with small veins before, so I was nervous, but everyone has been pretty good at sticking me without issue. Seth, in particular, has done an excellent job each time! Staff is friendly and laughs at my jokes, which is nice. ??
Went to donate. The lady had a conversation outside the door as i was getting my exam about a c-section. Told her it was nine years ago. She went on to say that she could not do my donation after telling her what i had, which was Avocado toast and Organic cereal being that i'm vegan. She stated "no one gave you a protein shake or asked you have you ate within the hour of me being there i said no. Her response was oh..." i can't let you donate today". It was more so that i heard her conversation outside of t
Well when you go and donate, do just that because some folks are OK but this employee Seth is just not fair will kick it with you and snake you out, he lied on me saying that I was being aggressive and that's so not my character, that was defamation of me I was deferred because his lie and couldn't even explain my case, although through further P.I found out he was going through personal issues that day,so yeah small talk if any at all donate get out and keep it pushing no need for extra converse trust me i
the Phlebotomy technicians were courteous and professional from start to end, one of the best visits I have had! Not to mention the technician who did the initial stick did a wonderful job, only wish I could get her every time!!!
I like that they play good music in here but that's even if you make it that far. The ?nurse? Monique that does the physicals is very strange. I was turned down because I have allergies she told me to come back when I'm not having allergy symptoms umm if she was a nurse and knew how allergies work she would know that's probably never going to happen and who doesn't have allergies? She also said since I was diagnosed with ptsd when I was 15 years old I can't donate unless I get a letter from my doctor. I am
Very clean! Efficient process. The only thing I wish were different is the woman at the front desk. She has been rude to both me and my wife. Not helpful at all. Poor people skills when dealing with an unhappy patient.
I have had nothing but positive experiences during my time with BioLife in Hampton. Overall the staff are friendly and will take the time to answer any questions you may have. There have been a few minor issues with donations however it was addressed quickly and to my satisfaction. The facility is clean and seems well managed as my donations occur efficiently on a regular basis. I have recommended this facility to several friends who are currently donating too.
I really love the fact that it's by appointment and most of the staff is super friendly and amazing. I have sent 4 people there and none of them have been able to donate for various reasons. I also hate that they get you in the door with great promotions but then as the weeks go on the payout gets less and less. At least at my old place they had real promotions to get you more money the more regular you are.
Professional and friendly environment. Smooth transition from one station to another
Excellent establishment with pristine customer service! Definitely recommend people looking for an opportunity to donate plasma to come here!
After driving 45 mins to get here and an hour of being bounced around. Being told I may not be able to donate due to having a "athletes pulse" which isn't a bad thing. Then bounced around more, was told I needed to come back. From the moment I walked in I was asked to present items I wasn't informed I needed to before coming in.
my first time doing this and I gotta say them steps that were taken to even give plasma was a lengthy one but worth it. the stuff was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. please check this location out if you're interested in donating.
Probably one of the most sterile, clean, professional plasma donation centers I've ever donated to. The staff is attentive, very understanding, I never see any sketchy people in there like usual when u go to centers. The nurses and technicians are on point and awesome! I just moved to Norfolk but I still make the commute because it's just that worth it with the services they provide. Thank you Biolife Hampton!!??
Excellent staff, everyone was attentive and friendly. It doesn't take long to get the donation done and be on your way.
The staff was very friendly and explained everything step by step
Very well organized and clean. The first day I went in and gave a blood sample to be sent to a lab. I also gave a sample for them to test at that faculty. My protein read 6.3. Gave plasma that day and two more times with no problems Then I received a call saying that the lab came back with 5.8. I talked to the nurse there that said the lab and there machines were both calibrated. I said if so they should read the same. She didn't get it. No one has offered a legitimate answer or test results to me. There
I was a blood donor in the past, and today was going to be my first plasma donation. The facility looked nice and was clean. There were many friendly associates working. The gentleman that called me back to get me set up as a new donor barely said a word, never smiled, and honestly just made me feel uncomfortable. He had that vibe that he didn't really want to deal with me. There wasn't any dialogue about the process. He set up my profile, photo, and biometric in the computer. We didn't do any medical scree
I had an amazing experience with biolife, when I walked in the room, I was greeted by everyone in the most friendly and supportive tone, everything was organized and I felt like the phlebotomist were very attentive and kind and respectful, This is the best plasma center, I've ever been too.
Been awhile since I donated and this was a new center, but the process was smooth and the facility was clean and professional.Mu exam dr was a great guy and explained everything to me.other than that all went well
Clean and organized especially since its appointment only but some workers could be more professional and be happy to work instead of treating it as a regular job because people health is at stake
Something you should know before going. You "donate" plasma and they pay you 40 t0 70 dollars depending on if it is your 1st or 2nd "donation " in the week. I was giving 800 ml per sitting. That's 1600 ml per week. The average price of plasma units ,which have 200 to 250 ml in them go for over 400 dollars a piece. So what is happening is you give them $1600 worth of medicine from your own body every time you go and they give you $ 40. But hey, they also give you gold fish and water.
I live out of state and am visiting family in VA where I am donating at this location for the first time. The Hampton location needs to show my normal center how it is done. The Hampton center has friendly staff and is well staffed. My normal donation center in Central Florida always has a 20-40 minute wait just for triage alone. Then to wait for a donation chair is another 10-20 minutes. If you are looking for a clean and friendly place to donate, I definitely recommend Biolife at Hampton.
Front end staff and nurses are great. Most technicians are good but God help you if you get one that is in a bad mood or close to getting off work. One stuck the needle through the vein and gave me a hematoma that lasted weeks. Last one did not secure the tube properly (not taped correctly and not tucked around arm pad) which came loose and covered me in blood. Now because of "failed returns" I am unable to donate for 8 weeks. I won't be returning anyways.
DO NOT GO HERE. Go to Grifols or CSL Plasma. Upon attempting to contact corporate with my concerns, I was contacted by a facility supervisor who neglected to address my concerns and declined my request for escalation. Despite having a 4:55pm appointment from the slot selection on their website that was scheduled over two weeks prior, when I arrived promptly for my appointment, the front desk staff member, Lois, and the male medical professional in the room closest to the desk were extremely unprofessional
Friendly staff you can chat and share a laugh with in a clean, positive environment. My first time donating I wasn't sure what to expect , they made me feel welcome and explained every step of the proccess to me. I'm on my fourth visit now and I'm glad I'm helping to change lives!
They open late, Now I can't donate but offer no compensation. It's their fault. Messed up...
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Process was smooth and easy. I've been donating here for a few months now and I highly recommend BioLife.
I definitely enjoy coming to this center over the others in the area. It is clean, not as crowded and comfortable. But I must mention an incident that I had the absolute displeasure of witnessing. A supervisor rudely reprimanded an employee right in front of me and other people. I felt so bad for her! ?? I could literally feel her embarrassment. I hardly ever write reviews but this was warranted! I even asked for his name... "Alvin" should definitely rethink his approach towards his employees!! What a seri
This place is very welcoming. The staff is friendly and the process is painless. Glad that this was my first experience. Definitely coming back!
I was a first time donor and transferred from Grifols Biomat where they are unorganized and mean. Being able to set an appointment and having a new facility with friendly staff here at Bio Life was so refreshing and reassuring! Everyone was great and professional. For a first time donor it did take me two hours from beginning to end, which is what I expected but it was such a great experience.
First time I went all went well. 2nd time, my blood was fine. Then I was there for over an hour, no one came to check on me. Finally I asked someone why my machine was beeping. Super rude stated you ate fatty food. I told her no I actually ate pretty healthy and increased water like I was told. Then she said she would get help walked off. I then felt like I was gonna die and pass out and yelled for help. Then someone ran to help me, but had to take the needle out and couldn't get it into my other arm. So I
This place is different.. gave 3 donations than banned why ....never called never answered emails called to speak to management put a boy on the phone stating he was the management refused to give his name ....why my test results were serious and they never bothered to inform me.im making complaints with several agencies....this place is shady.
I was unable to donate, the computer log me out and the representative, Elliott told me I could not donate on Tuesday. I had issues with the new questions because it sounded like they were not accepting my answers. While waiting for help, I got logged out. Very disappointing, not only do I help others by donating, it also helps me to pay my bills.
The staff is excellent. The building is clean. Staff is clean all the materials and supplies of sterile. I had a great and enjoyable experience
Great staff they play good music & the plasma pumping process is relaxing . They make sure your not in pain . The app is great for appointment scheduling & you can see your cash balance on their too . Heck they sent me a coupon to come back letting me get extra cash for my first donation of the week . They serve goldfish snacks to new donors as well. Cool spot to help people in need & get a lil money for your own life.
Everything is set up so well each stage of the process is well thought out. Each employee is nice and quick to help you when there is a question.
DAJAH WAS awesome, great job, and very nice. 5 star.
I have tried calling a couple times now trying to see when their last donation times are and to speak with someone about getting a new card since I moved and lost it in the move, yet each time I press 2 to speak with someone it just hangs up on me. The ladies at the front desk where nice as all get out how lever due to something that is completely out of my control that caused me to be late I am not able to donate now... There was a wreck in the tunnel causing a back up...
Staff is amazing! And I love how they get you in/out in no time
Jasmine is the bomb she takes care of me she knows how to stick she has good energy and very positive, Susan is great very positive I love Adriana very good energy she takes care of me as well. Treia is the bomb she has a good heart and good energy I love them all. Miss Tracey is also the bomb I love the atmosphere She makes me feel at home and relaxed?. Beth is the bomb and she is so nice?
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
