OMG THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. It's everything Octapharma could never be. Literally so efficient. The staff are funny and chill. Music is a vibe. Pays not bad. If I could give them 6 stars I would! After hundreds of plasma donations this is the best experience I've ever had! I WILL be back. :)
All of the staff were very kind, welcoming, and informative for my first time there. They were very attentive even when there were multiple people needing assistance and I was never just waiting around. (Tuesday around 11). Great experience and will be back.
Staff is nice and polite but 70% of the visits I've done I've had to get double poked with needles cause they don't seem to get it right so I have to walk out with both of my arms wrapped almost every single time, I honestly think the money isn't worth it anymore I used to also donate cause why not? But it's not worth the risk cause I got a hematoma last year from BioLife not being able to place the needle correctly, tho some staff members get it right and I know who they are I believe they need to worry ab
I appreciate the kind staff. It is moments where things do not go perfect the true character go the staff member shines. Being humble enough to seek help speaks volumes. I am so thankful the gift of plasma helps others.
No issues with donations. Glad to be able to help. One of rules is no picture taking on donation floor, but check the pictures and comments. I've pointed out picture to manager then again to staff for the past 3 weeks. Not only are they allowing the picture to remain up, they gave positive feedback to the person (Ronnet Passarelli) that posted it 4 MONTHS ago.
Refered a person and was supposed to get a referral bonus on their 2nd visit. They tried twice and were told their pulse was to high. Finally when they were able to donate I was not rewarded the referral because it was 31 days since the first visit. Since when does getting someone to donate expire. They are a joke!
Been a regular donor for a few months Last visit has cured me of ever going back. Was ignored at the beginning, then again at the end. 2 techs walked right past me on their way to stand around. Weighed less than previous visit, but they took MORE plasma! Then my arm wouldn't quit bleeding when I took the wrap off, ended up at the fire station to have re-wrapped. Called Biolife, and was told they used more anticoagulant than usual because my iron was high. First I'd heard! Add insult to injury, they drop
Such a considerate and efficient staff. Things moved very swiftly and the staff was adamant about making sure you understood the entire process as well as being friendly and understanding.
The wait to get checked in was extra long. People try donating on there lunch break or on there way to or from work. Need to improve check in time or compensation needs improved.
Great staff that is helpful and attentive. They provide great costumer service and answer questions with detail and easy to understand.
Wonderful people at this location. I'm very satisfied with my donation that helps people in dire stress. May this donation bring peace and love to all
Excellent management Nurses who oversee the process from beginning to completion of giving the gift of plasma. If anything happens during donation which are infrequent and easily managed they take great care of assessing everyone. The techs are professional and knowledgeable and are skilled at what they do. This is a very safe and easy process that we as individuals can help others in need. There is little reason to feel unsure of becoming an donor. And extra money is a great and helpful benefit for us as do
This last time i went the i. Solution and blood was not returning into my body properly so the needle was pulled in and out of my left arm several times where they proceeded to switch to my right arm were they proceeded to pull the needle in and out of my arm because the IV fluid and blood was still not returning after 10 minutes of pain they realize there was a kink in the hose soon as that resolved the blood and IV fluid started to return to my left arm where extremely large hematoma started to develop un
I think for the amount of effort it takes actually give the plasma you should get more money for it. I like the $800 coupon but it seems like half the time I don't get to donate because my pulse is too high and then I don't get half of that money because of it. It's a little bit of a bummer. But overall experience people are wonderful
Let me make an appointment and drive 80 min to say I couldn't donate then lie and say my closest center was one that was 145 min from my house. Go to any other center if you are able.
Lady that stuck me in the picture amazing very polite respectful fast hands down very good stick barely even felt it
Staff are very nice and thoughtful, procedures were executed very thoroughly and extremely quick!
This was my first time donating and I felt that the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They walked me through all the steps and I couldn't be more pleased. Clean environment. The first appointment did take about 2 hours to complete the physical and all the other additional steps so heads up on that. Overall, I will definitely be doing this again.
Everyone is very kind, patient, and attentive. I tried donating for the first time yesterday and my body isn't used to it so I almost fainted. I was in very good hands as everyone was very attentive. I only wish I could have donated more but I'm going to try again! They did not make me feel dismissed or make me feel ashamed for having almost fainted, which is what I was afraid was going to happen. They really care about their patients there, and the good that comes out of plasma donations.
They don't pay enough at all. And I really don't feel inclined to encourage people to donate here when the phlebotomist?s sometimes have unappealing attitudes due to being ?tired? I specifically remember the older woman saying ?ugh it's been a day I'm ready to get off work!? Immediately I thought ?oh god I'm screwed!? She did one arm and it was so uncomfortable and we tried the other and I couldn't even pump at all it felt like it was scraping the back of my vein. She really messed my arms up I still haven?
Wow, what a great experience. It was very easy to get the process started, and the staff were very nice and answered all my questions.
I've always had a perfect experience here. When it's busy, they are cool, calm and collected, and still give it a personal touch.
Professional staff explained the whole process and provided the minute to minute supervision making sure I was doing fine during the donation process. He was able to provide answers all my questions and concerns without hesitation. Special thanks to Mike
I feel good being able to help and get paid as well but I don't understand why every other week the amount decreases that you receive for donating, plus sometimes they take more ML of plasma if your iron is high but you don't get pain more for it!? There's a lot of pros and cons! Plus the wait time lately has been beyond tolerable because I arrived at 5:20 and literally did not lay down until 7:00!!!!! They better fix this problem asap or a lot of people will not keep donating. A few people left the other n
The workers are all amazing, easy money, and saving lives! BUT the lines are so long all the time they are allowing too many appointments to be made with not enough staff to do them in a timely manner. Most times I'm in line for an hour or more before even getting to donate. So make sure you make like a 3 hours window to be safe. Hopefully they get a better solution to fix the amount of time spent there when your only Donating about 35-45 minutes. For example of time it takes today 9/14/23 my appt was sched
Most are excellent at sticking, and new workers are quick to let someone experienced step in if they have any doubt! Clean, and during the summer quick. Expect long wait times when JMU is in session, or be in before 9 am.
I started off by having such a great experience. Recently on two occasions I was stuck wrong and my vein collapsed. I was offered $20 for the inconvenience and not paid the full amount. It wasn't my fault that I was stuck wrong two times. On another note, the staff is usually very friendly. I wanted to give myself a break after my last experience but I may go back if they offer more incentives!
Have had nothing but good experiences at the Harrisonburg center. As others have said, the wait times can be a little long at times, but they are experiencing staffing issues just like everywhere else so I don't think it's fair to fault them too much on that. They seem to be actively trying to hire people (I've seen a few new faces recently too) so hopefully the wait will decrease as time goes on. Other than that, great people and a great place to help save lives.
First time donor! Super nice and patient with me, explaining everything and answering any questions I had while also not making me feel rushed. Deb and Lou were fantastic and super nice to talk to!
I have been a Biolife donor for over two years. I go twice a almost every week, and am always impressed with the staff's friendliness, efficiency, and knowledge. It's great to do the procedure with a sense of complete security and safety. The facility is also always clean and maintained.
Staff is great & attentive. They work diligently to get the donors taken care of in a timely manor. Terrific teamwork!
Everyone are super nice and always ask how I am and how my day is going. However it always takes forever to even know if you are eligible to donate because it is not very many people doing intake but I feel that it could be faster because at times it looks like there are employees just sitting around talking amongst themselves and not really getting anything done. And of course I wish I would get more promotions and I definitely would have more incentive to come.
It's hard to get as excited about giving these days, as the compensation continues to stay much lower than it's been for years. No explanation has ever been given that I've seen that explains why everything else in life is going up including wages (even if they go up too slowly), yet the compensation for giving plasma has plummeted. I am having a busy week and in the past I'd force myself into giving even if my time didn't allow. This week, however, I'm going to just take a pass. $90, when not that long ago
make my drive over twice now only for both times telling me i couldn't donate after following the directions they gave me the first time
Everyone at this location is great, the building is clean and the staff work hard to try to keep you moving through without waiting too much. However, their customer support needs work, as I left some issues in feedback reviews and through their website, and was never contacted about it.
If you donate plasma don't go to a Biolife. I've never had any issues at any other plasma centers. But I go into Biolife and my pulse is apparently too high most of the time. I stopped going into Biolife for years and I remember why now.
I enjoy donating at Biolife. The staff members are friendly and professional. I can make a few extra dollars and help someone in need. Win win.
Its more hassle than its worth. One employee says they can work with your schedule and change appts if needed, I travel a far distance, and yet when you need to make changes another employee acts like you have put them out and its inconvenient. They run a test for proteins and say they'll call you with results and then two weeks later still no call. When you try to call no one answers or hangs up. Just not worth the hassle.
If I could give this place a negative star I would. The staff has no clue what their doing. They said they couldn't find a vein and kept trying causing dark bruises. They only let you donate 2-3 times then lie and say protein level is too high. I went back had my blood drawn to send to lab to check protein level again they lost the sample. I went back had blood drawn again the results came back abnormal wanted me to come back for another test. Ummm no I don't think so. They do this to a lot of people cuz t
They worked to explain the process and answer my questions regarding. Had every detail mapped out with snacks provided. The wait was not awful. The headsets are a tad outdated. The staff is super friendly and the facility is clean. Most importantly there isn't any weird smells.
Passed vitals, and told to go to pink section. Made it clear several times for over a year now that I will not go to this section due to it being a FREEZER in that section. I get too cold, and cannot donate. It's a problem for me, and for the workers in that section, as I beep nonstop because my blood flow is too slow from being too cold. Was told to go to pink. I refused to donate. Thanks for losing my $60
I have donated here for the last few months and I have to say this place hands down is steller. A few evenings ago I had my best experience I've had. My brother and I came in waited our turn (you have to have some patience people) got sat in red and our phlebotomist was amazing. So polite, pleasant, engaging, and comforting. My pulse was a little high when i was tested and waited 10 mins and was FINE! Staff was very nice offered me water and made sure i was relaxed as possible. I'm am not an easy doner (som
Sometimes the nurses & phlebotomist can be very short tempered & disrespectful. I have caught quite a few of them role their eyes & it has been on several occasions. I have been coming their for years & it's to do a good cause because Lord knows the money doesn't amount to anything. They really should learn how to speak to people because people aren't only coming there for money.
Love going to my local BioLife.. been gone for a couple years and it's like a big family!! Everyone's so professional and nice.. always helps me out if I have a question! Treats me like true family... Thanks guys!!
It used to be great when they were fully staffed but now all the employees are just overwhelmed by the amount of patience walking in and even scheduling. The lines are crazy af! Plan to add a few extra hours to your visit that day due to that. Other then that, the staff is great and amazing, just wish there was more of them to help out.
Nice enough facility. Just don't go if you have seasonal allergy symptoms because they will reject you. You will have to come back later.
It's annoying that they make you adhere to appointments and will not work with you, yet do not honor appointments. It's hard to wait around for an hour knowing that I'm gonna have to wait around for another hour and a half to donate. 5/6 of my donations I've had to wait for about an hour after my appointment. See, they make you make an appointment, then when you get there, you wait in line. Regardless if you are on time or not. That is a bad appointment system.
If I could rate this place a 0 I would. I live a little over 30 minutes away.... I am financially struggling so I decided to donate.. but because of a few prescription medications I wanted to make sure I could donate first. So I called. Asked if PTSD or my medication I'm prescribed for it would prevent me from donating.... they said no. So I came here.... went through everything for them to tell I can't don't because of PTSD. So I wasted 20$ I didn't have because they lied to me on the phone. If they were
Currently a donor, i enjoy donating doing something to help people in need. The harrisonburg location use to be a fast on time with appointments but now since going this year it takes way longer then your appointment time, waiting in like for 30+ minutes before even getting to the chair to donate then waiting another 10 minutes for someone to notice you haven't been connected to your machine for collection. I typically finish my collection amount in 40 minutes but between waiting in line and waiting to get
I have been coming here for 10+ yrs, but today will be my last visit to biolife here in Harrisonburg VA. Wait times have gotten worse and worse over the yrs. Been here since 810am for an an 815am appt. It's now 9am and I have not started my donation yet. I shouldn't have to explain to a company that this is not good. My appt time passed almost an hour ago and I'm still laying here waiting to get hooked up after I waited in line 30 minutes to get a bed. It was the same at my last 3 appts. I do not and would
After the fire month they drop to less then $100 a week. Not nearly enough with the way the economy is going. But even if it wasn't that bad. Plasma is a MULTIBILLION DOLLAR industry. $150-$200 a week at minimum is more worth having to sacrifice your body to help others.
I find the staff to be great in my experiences. I love to donate plasma to help, but I'm seeing a pattern of the compensation is always dropping new donors are paid well, but after that, it's drops from that point on not worth the drive don't know why compensation is always dropping it was an experience
Every time I've come in I've been greeted with a smile and treated with a very high level of respect. I've been coming here almost a year now and I've only ever been bruised once during my donation processes. Jillian and Brittany and all the staff are very professional and friendly. I give them 10 out of 10.
Gabby M(red head) And Kathy F are very hard and talented workers! Every time I come in they make me feel welcomed & safe
Ive been donating for over a month now, twice a week. I have never had a bad experience going here. I have a one and a half year old daughter who absolutely LOVES the child care room. All of the nurses are so friendly and really make sure that you are comfortable. Only one time did the needle feel uncomfortable but as soon as I let the nurse know she readjusted it and it was perfect from there. I highly recommend this facility.
Been going for over a year now, never had a problem!!! Everyone has been super great to me!!! The Harrisonburg location is awesome!!!
Very friendly, clean, and everyone made you feel comfortable! I was very nervous even being a nurse but all were very professional,!
I don't normally leave poor reviews, but this place is a joke. People who work there are extremely rude and act inconvenienced. Being honest about your health issues will cause you to be deferred even after submitting the ?necessary? healthcare provider letter. For what reason I still wasn't ever told. I have plenty of friends who go here and they've never been asked to provide a healthcare provider letter. Furthermore, i have no health issues. Doesn't make sense but there's no point in asking why because y
Worst place to go to give plasma! Waste of time and definitely not worth the money. They are understaffed, the ones that do work here are lazy Jackie always has problem. Even the staff says the equipment is faulty and when, Asked for a new cuff another employee said they could just adjust the old one then the cuff failed again. If your too lazy to change your faulty equipment then it's not my fault. The staff member even said it happens alot and it wasn't my fault. So why tell me I couldn't donate! Well ke
The first time i was denied by being 6 minutes late and no one told me you couldnt be more than five minutes late Second time my car was hit in the parking lot and i asked the staff if I could check it out for a minute. They said my appointment would be deferred. To me deferred means itll just be postponed for a bit, not canceled. The next time I came in I found out the staff would walk out in the parking lot with you. No one offered me that when someone hit my car and I had to handle the situation. N
I book my appointments online which is great being a live 55 minutes away from the facility. The staff is always kind, knowledgeable and communicative. The facility is always clean and ready for donors as well. I really enjoy it!
So disappointing! My husband has been trying to donate plasma for a month now. On our first visit, I was rather impolitely told that I could not accompany my husband on the clerical end of the physical appointment. I understand COVID regulations, so ok. After a lengthy physical and abundant questions and being shuffled around in a somewhat confusing manner, my husband was informed that he could not donate on that day due to being a diabetic. He was instructed to get two different forms signed by our fa
I was turned away today because I am allergic to latex. 1) Why hasn't biolife joined the rest of the medical community and have latex free supplies?? It's not like it's an uncommon allergy. 2) If you aren't going to make plasma donation available for people with latex allergies, you need to put it on your website somewhere. There's a list of things that make a donor ineligible, but latex allergy isn't on there. This caused a waste of time for both me, and the employee that checked me in, then had to spend a
Honestly, I was super disappointed. I drove an hour to donate plasma and went inside and started my questionnaire. I didn't even answer a single question when I found out my wife was in the car still and needed the keys. I canceled my questionnaire, and walked out to hand her the keys. I came back in and it wouldn't let me do my questionnaire. The BioLife employee did nothing to help me, when she easily could have. I went back into the BioLife app and rescheduled an appointment for right then and she said "
Beware, you cannot donate Plasma if you have a Latex allergy! They really should inform ppl of this before they waste others? time and money driving to get there! With so many ppl allergic to Latex, why would they still be using this? It's not fair to have me set up an account, drive from out of town, just to be told if I have a Latex allergy I can't donate.. The clerk was very nice, but this was unacceptable! Save your time if you have that allergy.
Previously when I donated for about a two year period, I applauded this facility with being a well run outfit. I took a well needed break for a little more than a year. Just returned recently to take advantage of the return donor payout. Upon my fourth visit to donate I was turned away due to a "spike" in my last plasma donation. I was told I could not donate till a doctor had reviewed this and that a doctor would be in the next day for me to call and discuss this situation. I have called now for three
Fast and easy donation this morning! My arms are usually tricky since my veins roll! Kathy got me with no trouble
For almost 10 years I've been donating plasma at this facility, in that time I learned to conquer a fear of needles and medical personnel. That was very helpful with the gastrointestinal issues I developed almost 8 years ago. Since the beginning of this last summer ive made three attempts to get this company to recognize my new email address instead of the old one that's been out of use for over a year so I can us the mobile app to schedule my appointments for donation. Now it doesn't even recognize my n.
A great facility with expert, friendly staff. A great place to make a little extra money and do good at the same time.
Was told I would be given 100 for a donation with my coupon. Gave the woman up front my coupon code and put the coupon in on the app. Only received 20 dollars for donation. Was told someone would contact me and they never followed up. I would recommend a more reliable option to donate plasma. They are way to bust and unorganized. I don't think people should be lied to about the money they will be given for donating plasma.
The staff at BioLife is friendly and looks after the needs of the donors.
This review has one caveat: I am a wuss and wasn't able to actually complete a donation. However, if you are tougher than me and can keep your dinner down at the sight of a needle, I would encourage you to try BioLife in Harrisonburg. The staff were super nice and professional. They have everything set up for maximum efficiency. Everyone I encountered was pleasant but also focused on their job. No employees were standing around on their phone, gossiping, or anything like that. The one time I saw someone wit
Love the staff! Gabby is absolutely so kind, sweet, and an exceptional sticker. I am always so glad when I see her
Short staffed.. Schedule to many people at time.. Over an hour wait. Got overlooked. Spoke up and got some evil eyes.. Some of the staff are rude and act as if they don't have time to listen to what you have to say.. Angel is nasty..
This is a great place to donate plasma and earn a little bit of extra money. The process takes about an hour and the money goes directly on to a debit card right after you're done. The perfect way to make some spending money as a student. The staff is always nice and make sure that you are comfortable. The building is super clean.
Employees great facilty management cant say so much. Seems like he likes to run to the office everytime it gets slammed and they need the help the most. Honestly ive never seen him help. They are deff over booked and under staffed for sure
I showed up 10 minutes early to my first appointment with a friend. I planned on being here for about two hours for it was my first time and a physical had to be run as well. I wasn't even acknowledged for the first 45 minutes. After hearing my name called I didn't even get to sit down before being told I could not donate. The reason ... I didn't have a three course meal for breakfast. WHAT!? I have donated blood NUMEROUS times through different organizations and my charts have always been perfect. I ate
I'm having trouble understanding why we make appointments if they're consistently an hour behind schedule? The system is obviously not working. If they're understaffed, they shouldn't allow so many appointments.
my experiences have been great! friendly workers, easy process. sometimes you have to wait a little bit but it's worth it!
They are always friendly and each person follows the same process no matter who you get. Definitely a relaxing atmosphere.
During my first visit my body was not used to the donation process and everyone here took care of me. Today, my second visit went so quick, easy, and friendly!
I'm already terrified of needles, the staff seeming like they're more at work to talk to each other about their weekend and hang out doesn't help my nerves. I've been donating on and off for 4 years, and finally got the stick bad enough to scare me away for good. The guy stuck me, it felt normal, then he just kept shoving the needle further into my arm. Ouch bro. Maybe next time the fella doing the sticking should focus on putting the needle in someones body instead of talking to another donor about how he
Everyone is very nice and good at their job. I barely feel the stick and the donation takes about an hour
Everyone is kind and caring. Been about 5 years since I've started donating and I feel like family when I go in. They ask how things are going, remember conversations and ask about life's events you've talked about. Can't pick a single person I like over another as they are all great! If this was my type of work, I'd apply in a heartbeat to be part of the BioLife employee family.
Great friendly staff always helpful in there to support during your donation. I would definitely recommend the Harrisonburg Virginia Center
Each step of the process was easy and efficient. The donation itself went very smoothly and there was no pinching or discomfort.
Absolutely ridiculous. Drove over half an hour to be denied once again. If I was deferred the first time why wasn't I told they were going to continue to defer me until a certain day THREE years from now. Im absolutely healthy and I guess it's their loss. People are rude and this place is trash
Always had nice experiences with donating and staff until today when i heard a nurse talking about someone. She was checking his lungs due to coughing and asked another nurse her opinion. Instead of leaving it at that, the original nurse walks past and makes an unnecessary comment about him. Well I knew the person she was talking about. Not her place to say anything and shouldn't ever say anything opinionated considering you never know who's listening.
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
