Reviews Summary

The majority of reviews praise the friendly, professional staff and clean, modern facilities, with many highlighting positive first-time donor experiences. However, significant complaints focus on long wait times, inconsistent appointment efficiency, and understaffing. Some donors report frustrating delays, especially for new donors, with visits stretching several hours despite appointments. A few mention poor phlebotomy experiences or strict eligibility policies. While many rate the center highly for comfort and service, recurring issues with organization and veteran/health-related paperwork frustrations detract from overall satisfaction.

I had the privilege of donating plasma (1st time ever), at the BioLife location on Washington St. The moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with friendly, bubbly staff that made me feel completely at ease. They walked me through the process, and made it very easy for me to want to be there, and donate some life saving plasma. A special shout-out to Karen is definitely in order. She did my physical, and she was so funny, upbeat, friendly, and professional! I felt so at ease, and happy to have someone

Even though I had a bad experience and it was unique that the system was down which is not the staff at location fault at all. The place itself is a 5 Star experience. The staff is wonderful and very careful with sticking you with a needle. It was very painless, which is a gift. I don't like that the phones never got answered, and my messages were not returned. So for this is 4 stars instead of 5. But honestly the place itself is very nice and the staff are the friendliest of people and very professional. S

This place is pretty nice. If it wasn't for this place I wouldn't have been able to get groceries last month or get rent paid this month. Word of advice, bring a book or a fully charged phone, and maybe some headphones. Your going to be there a while. Even if you make an appointment. They're extremely understaffed, but they will help you when they get to you. Have patience when coming to donate.

Very professional (the whole staff) it takes as long as it's gonna take depending on how many clients are present, no problems, and no worries , as regards the process it has been smooth every time? stay calm and keep your heart rate down, it will be just fine.

Only 3% of eligible donors donate plasma. The other 97% must have gone to BioLife Portland! What a miserable experience. Please save yourself some heartache and do not come here. My appointment was at 10:30. Fully checked in and questionaries answered by 10:45. It wasn't until 12:45 two hours later that I finally got a physical. Passed, iron levels and hydrations levels were in range, then I sat down to the donation machine and 30 seconds into the process the lady tells me the machine isn't working and they

Great staff. I recognize and seen staff who worked in another Las Vegas location, and in another at the st George Utah location. I remember when they started. And we're in training. Everyone is so kind and communicative. Staff give Verry easy and informative knowledge for returning donors and new donors.

So about a week or two ago I came in for my first donation. I had it already scheduled ahead of time so there wouldn't be any further issues. When I went to go check in, I get told I need a piece of mail with a date. It threw me off because I must've missed something in the website. Needless to say I didn't have that especially with not things being fully clear. As it's getting closer to the closing time I was asked about PTSD and going to therapy/counseling/medications ect. They tell me they have to call m

Honestly one of the worst experiences I've had in a long time, appointment is for 11am, don't get seated til after 1pm so what's the point of having an appointment? Two, there's 16 open beds so clearly staff is understaffed and overworked, and three ten mins into my drawing I get the largest swelling on my arm and have to yell for help because again understaffed people can't focus on what's going on around them and im pretty healthy and athletic so I know my veins are highly visible so there's no good reaso

The personnel here were very professional, friendly and helpful. It's been over ten years since I last donated due to relocation and they made my transition so seamless and easy. Thank you

Lookit - for all of the folks complaining about wait times? look around while you're there. These folks are doing a service to people and doing so expertly within their guidelines. Is it time consuming? Yeah. Lots of people depend on this for income. I've donated many times here now and without fail there's always someone who thinks they deserve special treatment and treats the staff poorly (which the staff always handles beautifully from what I've seen.) I wish the wait wasn't so long, sure, but really I?

I used to work as a phlebotomist years ago at a plasma center before becoming a nurse and WOW I was so impressed with how far things have come! The initial new donor process definitely still takes a while to complete as expected but everyone I met with was so knowledgeable and kind. Thomas who checked me in, the nurse (I'm so sorry I can't remember your name) and my phlebotomist Jorrie were so lovely. Special shout out to Jorrie, they were great and we happened to share a special love of bats ?? overall I w

Sadly terrible. You make an appointment just to have to wait behind 13 people and then have 1 person doing screenings. They have appointments, but it doesn't speed anything up at all they are so slow. You have to go to the nurse about every little thing that pushes you out another hour, if not more, and that's if you make it through. The donate is a good process, but everything else is terrible. They will open late and not tell you, so if you have a 9am appointment, you still might not even get through the

I showed up on their first day of opening, and surprisingly, I wasn't the only returning donor. Of course, we were all happily greeted by the staff not only upon entering but throughout the center, and they checked up on us during the process. It was nice to find another who recognized my home donation center even though I was nearly 1,000 miles away. The equipment was brand new, and the restrooms were spotless. You could even smell that newness in the air.

Rude staff and the manager ? she was awful! She asked for my address and I provided them with a copy of my lease agreement and she saw that I was living in a sober living home and did not allow me to donate because I am a recovering alcoholic 7 months sober. She straight up discriminated against me. When I called her out for it she said she has the authority to discriminate if she wants. Go anywhere else but here. This place is not professional or ethical!

My only complaint is that week over week the wait times have gotten longer and longer. Why schedule an appointment if it's nearly 2.5 hours past your appointment time, standing in line to get a bed. It's used to be so smooth - in and out in about an hour. Short staffed? They need to stop overbooking while short staffed.

Great employees! Very friendly & welcoming(: Thomas, Payton, Kenya were very responsive & made me feel at ease + comfortable. I'm impressed with the quality of service. Hunter is doin an outstanding job directing+managing the Portland location my new place to go now. Thank you Biolife for putting a Westside location in. Instead of driving 30miles it's only 3miles to donate now!! Super stoked :D

Had an AMAZING experience at this location as a first time donor. From beginning to end. Every person I interacted with was so sweet and kind. I left very happy and pleased. This place was very clean as well. I felt very well taken care of.

The staff were nice but they have an overly strict dumb rule on sleep apnea. I was diagnosed 10+ years ago and no longer have issues. Lost a lot of weight but still ?need proof? even though it's obvious. Just be aware you may be denied over something silly and minor. Funny that other centers have no issue with this. Nothing required etc.

I don't understand why this facility allows so many appointments during the same time slot. The staff is unhelpful, especially Hunter. He copped a pretentious attitude very quickly and deflected all blame toward BioLife as a company instead of owning the issue that he helped cause. As a return donor, if I have an appointment at 11, I should not wait in line behind 10 other people. The wait to get into the chair takes twice as long as actually donating. I've donated at several different centers in the past

Went in for my first donation. Facility was very clean and welcoming. Everyone was friendly with a great attitude! Will definitely become a regular for a while at least.

i did not end up being eligible for plasma donation (the requirements are *much* stricter than blood donations, do your research!) but dr. justin and sequoia?s friendly & personable energy absolutely made my visit anyway ?? only knocking off a star bc the questionnaire computers at this location are a bit old and glitchy. overall great experience here despite the unfortunate circumstances! good job guys ??

These people are terrible. Specifically the nurse named Justin. Treated me like I was not a human being. Loud overly animated telling me ?I won't let you into the club?. Simply because I asked to sit down after waiting in line for over an hour. Horrible behaviour. Don't go there go to a different bio life

The staff are friendly, engaging, and efficient, but the scheduling is just silly. I always arrive at my appointment time and still have waited in line an hour BEFORE donating. That's simply poor planning and inadequate staffing. Acting like appointments are honored and then wasting donors? time is disrespectful and disappointing.

Super friendly staff! Great energy? usually. Whoever is in charge of setting their donor capacity doesn't seem to care about their staff nor the donors though. Despite everyone being well trained and quite nice, on a busy day you're so much more likely to accidentally get a HEMATOMA due to staff being a bit over worked and under pressure to make things quick.

Have not had the best experiences here. Back on September 4th I tried donating. During the process a hematoma was caused and my arm blew up and I was not able to receive my whole blood back. No follow or check up call. Nothing! When I called to schedule my next appt. I was called immediately after scheduling and told I was deferred for 60 days. I got an email after that time period expired. Inviting me back and a bonus was offered to return. I could not longer access the app to schedule so I tried calling.

The wait time was ridiculous. There was a very long line waiting for BP, finger prick, etc. Following that there was another excessive line waiting for a bed, then again once seated. Biolife requires appointments to donate but that doesn't mean much. You still wait for a long time. They are always short staffed, due to people calling out and scheduled time off. I was in the clinic for over 2 hours. With an appointment. This happens more often than not. Biolife should prepare better as this has been ongoing

Needing to bring my SS card was never mentioned during sign up or while booking an appointment. Sketchy though why they need someone's SS number. Sketchy looking people inside. Employee using computer without taking off or changing gloves.

I didn't have too much problem the first few times but I from the beginning let the staff know I need a lead to do my draw because my veins are on smaller side and it rolls and I'm left arm only. The last time I was I. The chair the guy was NOWHERE near getting my vein. I have 4 immediate family members that are anesthesiologists 2 RNs and that's just my IMMEDIATE family. When one of my sisters AND one of my brothers were in school for RN (then continued to anesthesia program) i was brought in to help them

Very professional and courteous. Facility is clean and comfortable. People are wonderful. Overall a very positive experience

I donated at Portland bio plasma and I had such an amazing experience. The staff that worked with me were proficient, thorough and kind. I met with Claire first. She was relatable, precise and had a great personality. I had my physical with Alina. She was compassionate, explaining everything step by step and such a big heart! My phlebotomist was Bella. She was just incredible as she thoroughly explained the donation process and was very kind as she passed by asking how I was every ten minutes. I highly reco

I decided to donate plasma for the first time and I was happy with this experience. Upon walking into the Biolife building, the staff greeted and welcomed me. She explained the process as a first time donor and gave accurate time frames. The medical staff were quick, efficient, and personable. Upon stating the actual donation process the staff explained everything and made sure I understood. The process it's self was issue free and went by in an hour. Overall had a great and smooth experience.

I agree with all the other comments on the waiting issue. I was told they'll accept anyone 10 minutes early or late. Since it seems like they have about 10 people per time slot, and 5 minute slot intervals that means if 10 are on time, 20 are late, and 20 are early, you could have 50 people right then and there.

Everything is so clean, professional, confidential, and the process is clear. All the staff are warm and helpful. As a first time donor my experience was excellent. They also described so well what the experience of the donation would feel like which helped prepared and empowered me to be comfortable during the process. Very grateful for the opportunity to be a donor and even be compensated for it.

I recently had my first visit/donation here. I have donated before but for a different company. I felt a lot more comfortable here, and felt the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. I felt at ease during my physical and I will be back for more donations! Definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to donate plasma!

Had a terrible experience with their elderly staff member ?Lydia? here. She was extremely rude to me, unable to work the medical equipment and technology required of her, and extremely slow. She was disrespectful to me because she couldn't work a phone and when I tried to assist her with working my own device, she snapped at me and said she was ?just trying to have a good day okay? and was super frazzled and then just bratty and rude the rest of the interaction. She had to ask for help simply taking my bloo

updated review after management reached out after seeing this. I'm changing my review from one start to 3.5 stars. Management went above and beyond to fix this issue for me. Once they got involved it was easy sailing from then on out. I just wish I wouldn't have had to deal with all the issues and post a bad review to get things handled properly. So my advice is be prepared for some hassles from the clinic but be persistent. Maybe because it's a newer location they have a lot of bugs to work out still. Fir

I've donated plasma at multiple places over the years, in many different states and counties, and this has got to be the nicest location I've ever been to. The staff is all very friendly, and they place itself is very clean. Some of the phlebotomists are definitely new to this, so I did have one unfortunate experience of one missing my vein and having to get assistance, which caused a lot of bruising. But they still paid me despite needing to send me home, and the one who made the mistake was very kind and

Despite requiring donors to make appointments, it seems like this center is generally understaffed. Returning donors should generally be in and out in about an hour, but in recent weeks (as the facility gets busier), it's taking closer to an hour and a half to 2 hours to get done. Additionally, no one seems to have any sense of urgency. I walked out today after I had been there an hour and still hadn't started my donation. If this continues to be my experience, I will definitely find another center to

They can't seem to stop giving me deferrals because the phlebotomists are having an extremely difficult time getting the small veins on my arm. I get compensated when I leave without donating which is nice, but after time and time again due to their errors I get deferred for weeks or months on end and can't come back to donate. I've gotten multiple hematoma?s and blood losses which can defer you from signing up to come back when they log it in your charts and they make you wait for weeks or months. Also, th

I wish I had nicer things to say because the staff are all lovely. But, if you aren't 100% desperate, maybe hold off for a while while they catch up on training. I have made 4 attempts to donate here and only been successful twice. The first attempt that didn't go well made me have to skip a second weekly donation because it bruised both my arms badly then today I ended up deferred for 8 weeks after attempting both arms when the machine was unable to return my cells. Both of these failed attempts I was to

Just opened a few days ago, so wait times are a little long for initial physicals and screenings. I imagine this will get better soon as they get more established. But wow, the staff is amazing. Kenya, Dare, Ashley, and more. Really appreciate all of the staff being so friendly. Pay scale isn't as much as the other donation center I used before in PDX. But now that I live on this side of town, this is the only plasma donation facility in this area.

So... I like some of the workers but my biggest issue is the inconsistencies. I've donated plasma at other clinics and have never been denied or deferred until I started coming here. And each time it's been because of someone new working on me. I watch them do something different (as someone who has been several times I'm familiar with the process) and then something happens that interferes with my donation. My advice is to come here for the promotion and then go to another clinic. I prefer OctaPharma since

I've been donating here for awhile and usually have no complaints, but the last couple of times have been frustrating. Last week, I went in and waited on a bed for at least half an hour before a phlebotomist came over to assist me (and at least 2 people who sat down after me were assisted before me). Then the phlebotomist, Emilia, had a difficult time getting my vein and kept trying to adjust it (ouch...). She asked for help and they switched to the other arm, but botched that one also. Today, the same phle

Dare was amazing and made me feel very comfortable, was very nervous at first but at the end of it I was reassured by Kenya that I was going to be ok and she helped me through it. She did a great job at making sure I was healthy towards the end. Amazing people, highly recommended working with them both.

Great new location. Very clean and bright. I went on opening day so there was a long wait as everyone was getting physicals, no big deal though. The staff were all super friendly and gave out snacks. This is now the best plasma center in town. Shout out to Renee for going above and beyond

Appointment took 4 hours. The person doing vitals was in training and presented as confused and not confident, making me nervous about donating. Fortunately, I had the presence of mine to request an experienced person insert the needle into my arm. I was able to donate the maximum amount but needed some support in recovery because I was hungry and thirsty after being there for so long. I went back to donate again today. Had the same vitals person who was only slightly better than my first visit. The person

They wasted my time twice between requiring a note that ptsd wouldn't cause me to have a meltdown due to the noises in the facility that I had already been in for 90 minutes with no issue, and then again when they punished me with an 8 week exclusion period when their phlebotomist didn't stick me right, causing me to bleed a lot out of the place the needle had been stuck. It's good money for a valuable donation to sick folks in need, but find a more professional place to do it if possible.

Amazing service! Clean, efficient, effective, and organized. The staff here are absolutely amazing, incredibly nice and informative. As a first time donor, this was one of the easiest donor experiences I have had! Glad to have you guys here!

Such a wonderful experience. Special shoutout to Sylvia who helped me with a referral bonus, she was amazing for that. Also Kenya & Kaylie who helped take the donation, they are so helpful and friendly. Adding on to my review, as my experience keeps getting better. I'd like to mention several BioLife employees for my wonderful interactions. First two are Ellen and Kenya, they're always in the best mood. They have built a relationship with my mother and myself, my mother donates with me. They bring a smile t

What a great experience I had !!!! From beginning to the end. The staff is wonderful and patient. The first time, it took me almost 3 hours to complete the whole process. Very clean and organized. Nurses are amazing!! I highly recommend this place.

Waited 45 Minutes as a new Donor only to get rejected due to Tattoos. From what I've heard on the internet as long as your Tattoos are over a year old your fine well my Tattoos are 4 years old and it should be perfectly fine to donate but nope I got rejected guess ima have to go to CSL Plasma

Pretty bad experience unfortunately. If you have PTSD do not disclose to this facility. I've been told multiple times I would get a call back or email and I've received none after promptly getting my therapist to take time out of her weekend to fill out the required paperwork. It's been about a month of me calling very often, leaving multiple messages and even stopping by without an answer or the respect of a call back. I am single mother trying to make extra funds and I feel very disappointed in the way my

Are you a veteran with PTSD and/or spinal issues? Good luck donating here they will make you and your doctors jump through so many hoops you may never be able to donate. They even suggest going to a local urgent care to have them fill out the forms with absolutely no knowledge of your health history other than what you tell them (sounds like fraud to me). Spent over 4 hours here to be sent away with a timeline of weeks before I can get the obsurd forms filled out by someone. Absolutely asinine that they won

I'm really impressed with this plasma center. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. I don't think I've ever gone through the new donor process so seamlessly. The facility is clean with updated equipment. The technicians really know what they're doing when they stick you. I have tricky veins and the tech had me hooked up in a second while barely feeling a thing.

longest line I've ever seen at a BioLife and I've been to about 50. def not worth the wait

Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable make the entire process very easy.

Management is rude. Brought my daughter to donate and was waiting inside to make sure she was able to donate when someone in management asked me if I was donating and when I said no I was told they didn't have room for me to sit inside the building. Mind you there were ten open chairs with no one waiting. Adding: while outside waiting I noticed a lady come out who had also been inside with someone else and asked her if she was donating and she answered no. I'm curious why I was asked to wait outside and sh

This place is a joke. Was told initial vist would take 2 hours. Well, at one hour 45 minutes they still had not performed a physical or even thought about taking a donation and the "supervisor" has an attitude of tough luck just take it and then tells me it could still be 4 MORE HOURS. Thanks for wasting my time and money on a baby sitter

First time coming here I don't know what's the point of making an appointment yes I understand it's busy but I had an appointment at 12:30 it's now 3pm and I still haven't been checked for my physical. It should not take 4-5hours your first time visiting.

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. THEY WONT HONOR THE POMOTION OF 400$ IN 1 MONTH for 4 donations BECAUSE THEY WONT SHCEDULE YOU FOR A RETURN inside the promotion window DUE TO THEIR "TIME WIDNOWS" ON DONATING. DO NOT COME HERE THINKING YOULL GET THE $$ YOU WERE TOLD. Waited 3+ hours to have literally nothing happen. Was told to get a come back Card to get 40$ extra on the next 2 visits. Why would I come back?! What a waste of my life. I'll continue to give blood to other facilities that don't get upset at me for havin

This was my very first time donating plasma and i?ve tried donating plasma before at CSL plasma in Hillsboro and my service was below sub-par. Bio Life had such a diverse staff as well as giving me amazing costumer service. Alexa, Taylor and Cristoph(i believe that was his name) made me feel super welcome and happy to donate making me super comfortable. So excited to give back what i have to the community as well as doing it in a great environment.

Bio life policy is very discriminate against people who have served there country. Requiring you to and your dr to fill out multiple forms about your mental stability. And refusing you service if you have ever suffered from ptsd. So if you do just say no.

I was highly satisfied. This new location is perfect! It is closer to my home the staff are so friendly and informative. I couldn't be happier to come her to donate. 5 out of 5 stars!!

I was deferred while they wait for test results. It's been over the 10 days, no call back & its been so long now, I'll never reach the promotion amount. Can't reach anyone. Called & emailed. Nothing.

All new equipment. Everyone was very personable. The insertion both times has been a very smooth process.

These guys are truly incredible. Made me feel so comfortable and concerned about my welfare. It is such a clean and comfortable environment. Love being able to help others by giving plasma!

First time donating with BioLife (Usually donate with CSL Plasma) and it's been such a pleasure to visit this location. From the front desk to the donation area, every staff member that I interacted with was so kind and helpful. Their procedures are top notch compared to CSL Plasma (No fault of CSL of course, they're wonderful). But BioLife has the organization that I've heard donors at CSL Plasma wish for. Definitely recommend to any folks looking to try out plasma donation ??

Everybody here is kind, fast, and helpful. Super easy process, and super staff!

It was OK but there were a lot of small delays and miscommunications due to computer issues and a clear... need for training and calibration with your policies. The time started to add up and it got really frustrating that every step had to involve getting a trainer/supervisor over.

So glad they have this location. Having to drive up to Vancouver was so much more out of the way. The staff here are attentive and helpful when it comes to tips and tricks to donating and aftercare. Would recommend for sure if you think about donating plasma.

This plasma donation center is efficiently ran , it's a quick process in and out in about an hour . Plus it's so much closer to my house then driving into Portland . I live in Beaverton .

Honestly they seem clean professional nice place n people only problem i see is they turn away alot of people after the trip out wo being clear on stipulations like tattoos over 20 yrs old but still said no,they also told my buddy over the phone to come hes good to go then gets there to get handled told no go n he had to walk home from Washington square to Hillsboro for nothing

Justin was friendly and professional. Dare and Olivia were exceptional especially given that my veins are temperamental. I cannot wait to return for future donations.

Everyone was friendly, busy and professional. If feel they did a great job even under pressure of customers not being so nice. They handled it very well.

Prompt and professional, thankful to have this location in a convenient place. Shout out to Rebecca and Ashley! They made my first visit comfortable and memorable.

The people that work there are great but I was told as a new donor I would make $700 for being new and it didn't happen only made $260 and then wasn't able to donate plasma until after my promo season time ran out for whatever reason and was not offered any kind of excuse or his opportunity to get the rest of the promotion Josh said I was promising a donor

This place is upsetting, I have 4 experiences where they have misplaced the venipuncture and twice on particular gave me hematoma once in both arms witch didn't allow me to donate until the bruising was gone then 2 weeks later they said my vein rolled on me.

Showed up late and that was my fault (traffic was horrendous). They checked the computer and didn't really put effort to get me in that day. Instead offered to set up a different time. It took me an hour to get there due to the traffic. If they aren't going to be putting effort in to try to check me in, it seems like they have enough plasma.

This place is the absolutely worst! Understaffed and disorganized. Do yourself a favor and drive up to the Vancouver location. You won't regret it

Friendly staff , but wow what a wait! Calling out names to dudez withear phones in. Multiple times. Held up the show. Short staffed on docs to give initial physical.

The intake staff is absolutely wonderful, particularly Georgie. They're very patient, understanding, and thoughtful as for the needs of the people waiting.

Everybody was happy, helpful, and attentive. Wait time was a little long due to my being a first time donor, but overall great experience

Have been here for 2 hours and haven't even made it to the physical. This place is the worst. Takes FOREVER for new donors. Hated it

The process speed of a new donor depends on how busy it is there, the employees are friendly The procedure to obtain plasma went by faster than I thought

Staff was very efficient and didn't have to wait long at all to get hooked up and donating..Adrian was very thorough when explaining what he was doing

I've donated at other centers before and this one is by far the best. Ps Taylor is amazing and deserves a raise for being awesome.

Warning for automatic deferrals if you have PTSD. If you have any mental health condition, you're unwanted there until you can find a doctor to promise them you're not too crazy to be out in public.

Staff is super friendly! Machines are ne and fast! Pay is mid, but there is finally a local plasma center!
