I donated plasma at BioLife in Roanoke this past Saturday, and the experience was great. The staff was friendly and professional, making check-in easy. The facility was very clean, and the donation process was smooth. They made sure I was comfortable throughout, and the process was efficient. I appreciate how organized and well-maintained everything was. If you're considering plasma donation, this location is a great choice! Rating: ????? Thes staff is very friendly and considerate, but be prepared to spend your entire day there. They say the average donation is about an hour after the first one, but unless you get there as soon as they open, you going to spend at least 3 waiting to get in a bed, and no chairs while you wait so if your not comfortable being on your feet standing stillfor potentially hours, your better off at one of the other clinics in the area. The biggest problem is definitely that they over book for their small staff and
I'm just finishing my promotion program and I've been beyond satisfied! Karen is an employee there, and no matter how busy her energy is always amazing. She's one of the people that make it a professional and welcoming experience. I'd send anyone to this location, and I pray that she is someone that helps them.
It's always something with this place, It's either The screener take 10mins per person or they have terrible management. No point in making a appointment because you may be there for more then 2 hours and it seem they Hire people that's not up for the task. With no message or notification I drive here to found this on the door whole places is a struggle.
Great if you want some (not quick) money, stay for the first month, get your 750, then go ANYWHERE ELSE. The regular pay at freedom (now griffons?) on Melrose is the same and literally NO WAIT. I'm typing this as I'm still in line, been here for an hour and a half so far, still multiple people in front of me, no beds. 2-3 hours every single appointment is horrible: this place is all about money and not about efficient scheduling of appointments or staff.
Not sure why they changed their hours. Or at the very least didn't let patrons know the hours would be changing. As someone who relies on them being open later on Friday; that would have been nice to know their hours changed instead of finding out when I try to book an appointment for after work. Just keep your donators up to date with changes.
Do not go here.. they will make it impossible for u to donate if u do something that someone doesn't like.... they will argue with u about the appointment times u set which may cause your blood pressure to rise especially if u needed that donation on a day they close early and are trying to get people out the door. Once your BP is high now u can't donate and they send u home they will discriminate against you for your appearance and insist that your lying - Nicholas P.s Just go to grifolls there's 2 locati
Appointment and wait times are extremely long. An "Hour" for your time is more like an average of 3 even without a physical. You need more employees or stagger the Appointment times better. Staff and phlebotomists are extremely professional and courteous.
From the moment I walked in, each staff was very welcoming! They walked me thru the process, and even though I couldn't give the first day (my age determined I needed an approval from my doctor), the next time I came to give, the same welcome was given to me. Each time, every staff has been helpful, I have now given four times, and on the fourth one, my saline was dripping out of my vein, so I was immediately taken care of in a professional and timely manner. Also, the first time I donated I forgot to giv
Overall good experience. I feel like they could use some more employees. Compared to appointment times the process was over 2 hours.
My first time donating was here now I've donated 4 times.... yes there can be a line but really it's not bad the staff is always working hard and keeping folks moving fast as they can... I've never felt forgotten or not cared about here. Great staff thank you for the service
I love the staff. They make you feel like you are part of a team. The pretty redhead (Ashley) is amazing, she definitely is great at her job. And Elise you are great, I barely knew I was there to donate plasma. All you guys are great. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else to donate plasma.
Do not over book when obviously you cannot process that many people who were standing in line to check in and to be put on the table. My appointment was for 12:10 I got there at 12:00 and did not leave until 4:00. I had to cancel appointments due to this and cost me a lot more than the $50 that I was paid. A argument broke out in the lobby which made me very uneasy these people were asked to leave the building and they did not instead they were processed before all the other people standing in line. It was
Super friendly and professional staff. After going there for several donations, I feel like they are family. The facility is clean and well-managed.
Each time I have donated here the staff have been extremely kind, welcoming and professional. I have always been impressed by the standards of cleanliness and adherence to hygiene standards. The staff members are required to go through a lot of training, and it's clear that this is a well-run operation overall. People unsatisfied with this location usually get upset by arriving to find out they may not be able to donate due to long wait times or by coming unprepared to their appointments (having the right
The staff here were so amazing. I am a first time donor and was a bit nervous but they made sure to make me feel very comfortable and safe. The whole process was easy and what this company is doing is great. Staff was beyond great. Definitely recommend.
Melanie is the best. She always makes sure that you are comfortable and that you feel welcome. When she sticks it is with care. She is just amazing.
Not 100 percent satisfied with the needle stick but other than that staff is really welcoming and the establishment seems clean.
Everyone was super friendly and helpful with it being my very first plasma donation. The nurse was amazing! Also, the phlebotomist I had, Elise, was so great. She was very gentle with the needle and I have no pain or bruising the day after my donation. I would definitely go back to this facility again!
The gentleman who was getting me ready to donate rolled my vein. He didn't do something right, I now have a huge bruise and a hematoma from this last visit. Luckily my other arm has a very good vein, so I was able to complete my donation.
I feel as they cheated me out of the last two new donor payments of $110. They canceled one of my appointments because they were short staffed then deffered me because I had a high pulse rate which was caused by standing in line for 35 minutes to be screened. The manager will never call you back and no one ever picks up the phone. The staff is ok, but not very nice either. Probably going to try Freedom plasma, because Bioife cheated me on the new donor bonus and appointments mean absolutely nothing there. *
Horribly long wait times and the system is set up to prevent you from getting the advertised amount of money. I would recommend donating with a different company or going a completely different route
I had an appointment at 10.00 am ,it took over an hour to get seated ,when is busy they should have all , hands on deck and coordinate the break better.
The staff are all caring and knowledgeable. They explained every step of the process. Thanks to Elise who manages to stick me and my difficult veins :) the nurse is also super funny, kind, and just great all around. Not the most pleasant experience, but they make it easier :)
It's an all-around great experience, I just wish things moved a little smoother. In other words staff needs to be able to multi-task. it's horrible to come in and take so long just to get seated. So all around a great center but it just takes too long to get the whole process started. I've seen staff talk to each other and stop doing their job. So this may be my last donation for a while. Update They have gotten more people and it seems like the service had gotten better.
It was my first time donating and I was very nervous going in. That being said, all staff I interacted with were very friendly and caring, they made me laugh and feel at ease. The process is very thorough in screening and making sure it's as safe as possible for donors and those who will receive the plasma. I definitely recommend making an appointment, as there was a wait for walk ins and some for myself with an appointment, but appts definitely had priority. I was provided snacks, protein drink, and electr
I was just blatantly lied to by an employee in the Roanoke, Virginia center. Big soft white boy. Tomorrow is when my buddy referral promotion expires. So I went in today. Tried to check in with my fingerprint and the system told me I couldn't donate with a physical. Physicals are YEARLY, and this is widely known by all donors. So I went to the front desk, waiting a long time for some help. Finally the big soft white dude comes over, seems aggravated and asks me what I need. I told him there's something wron
Great place to start donating and make a difference in a person's life. Staff is wonderful funny, kind and inviting.
The staff is always courteous, professional, and safe. There are some longer wait times, but it's because they place is generally packed and unfortunately understaffed. Despite that, the phlebotomists are precise and follow procedure to the letter to make sure everyone is given top notch treatment. I'd love to see the staff get more help in the form of more hires to help out, but they're doing a great job!
Although there was a decent amount of people, they seem to move though the process at a good amount of time, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly
Under staffed and they always overbook, the wait time is always a negative here. Do not make plans on days that you donate. However, the staff here are always friendly and polite. The facility is always clean.
This was my second donation. The team that works in the Roanoke location is amazing!!! I can not say enough at the wonderful service they give. The three stars I'd the fact that you schedule your appointment and you still 2 to 2 1/2 hours which is ridiculous. The company needs to hire more employees and have more hours available. If someone goes to the trouble of scheduling an appointment, they should not have to wait!!!
Most of the time I have a great experience at biolife. The staff is friendly and humorous, good vibes all around. However, there is one employee by the name of, I think Andrea. This woman is slow, inept and off putting. Also, she seems to be in a management position, which is wild. Every interaction I've had with her is... just weird and uncomfortable compared to the rest of the staff there *edit* I've changed my 3 stars to 1. Seems shortly after I posted this review, I was PD for really no reason. Even th
This place operates like a well oiled machine. Everyone knows their jobs and completes the job flawlessly.
Was busy and short staffed. Appointment was at 4:55 didn't complete donation until 7:30. I have notice a few staff members that just walk around are not really doing anything. I understand that certain staff can only do certain things, but these staff members need to be more productive. One phlebotomist would ignore alarms and only disconnect people once several machines were alarming. She made the decision and told other phlebotomist to stop sticking donors because staff was leaving for the night. The
First, the people who actually work here range from fantastic to completely OK. My review has nothing to do with any unpleasant or unprofessional interaction with an employee. My issue lays with the fact that BioLife the company doesn't have their finger on the pulse of how many appointments the facility can handle. The past 3 visits, I arrived for my appointment 5-10 minutes early only to find a group of 10+ donors waiting to be screened with another 10+ donors closer to the back waiting for a bed. This
All staff was professional, helpful and thoughtful. It made my first experience very pleasant
Staffing is horrible! Employees are slow as hell and take their sweet time doing everything. Had to wait an hour in line to get my vitals done and there was only one person ahead of me. They didn't allow me time to sit and let my blood pressure go down before they checked it again, and they play extremely inappropriate music. I would NOT recommend any going here. Oh also you'll be waiting about 2 to 3 hours just for a physical it not longer.
I have had nothing but good experiences with this location. In particular with Ashley who is always friendly and in a good mood with a smile on her face. And Elise who manages to stick me every time even without the best veins.
DO NOT DONATE HERE!!!! This place deserves 0 stars. I received an injury by one of their lab techs in this office in JULY. It is now almost DECEMBER and they have yet to take care of my medical bills that THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR! They NEVER answer the phone, and they refuse to give a number to contact a higher up.
Update~ I've found the staff to be more friendly, attentive, and have a positive attitude. These people work hard all day long. Although, I walked in at my scheduled appointment time only to find a maze of tape on the floor for those of us that are waiting to be screened by three employees. I'm currently 14th in line. Oh good a new person just walked in and now everything stops so she can be attended too and we can stand and wait. They have phlebotomist who are doing their best to keep up. If you're a new d
The staff is very friendly and will help you throughout your first visit. I would highly recommend trying them out and donate plasma today to help someone in need.
The center was very clean and all of the staff i interacted with were very professional and friendly, even with so many clients at the time I was there. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
I am so fed up with the Roanoke location. I got a week deferral because my protein was low. Went back a week later and had another blood draw to be tested and today I called to get the results and was told there was "too much" fat in my blood and I would need ANOTHER blood draw test which would mean I would have to wait another 6 to 10 days. That would be over 3 weeks I haven't been able to donate. I am starting to think I'm getting the run around. If it is the case I wish someone would tell me the REAL
Please be aware of your first time to be there for at least 4-5 hours, they are extremely backed up! Staff is nice especially Marian who is a sweetheart and very bubbly and smiling! I appreciate her conversation! I also enjoy the music playing while visiting the center! Andrea the manager is helpful with situations that may arise!
Terrible. The worst blood blank in the city barely any workers. Two at the front desk always take some time checking you in. When I finally got checked in. I had to see the nurse who made me wait 45 mins knowing I had to see her. Over 6 people skipped me. After I gave attitude about her walking back and forth and not calling me I was seen with another nurse. I waited another 45 mins to finally donate. Over a hour and a half due to slow machine that stop every 10 mins, I'm 145 pounds I have never donated no
Disrespectful, disorganized, lazy. First and foremost, the disrespect. My wife came with me - we live quite a distance away - we had planned that she would wait at the location as I go through the process. She is disabled, accompanied by a service dog in training (which is accorded equal protections by Virginia state law - Code of Virginia ? 51.5-44 - as a fully trained service dog is in accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, title III, ? 36.302: c ) and did not wish to wander around
EDIT: As You can see below, the first day of donating went fine however after that first day of donating I have not been able to get an appointment and if I do get an appointment they call to cancel it because all of the workers lay out of work and don't work. They call and cancel saying that they're short staffed, sorry, reschedule your appointment. You have to reschedule on the app and there's never anything available and like I said if you happen to get an appointment, they'll call and cancel it. Don't wa
Great staff! Quick and efficient. Much better than my home BioLife center in D.C.!
We have to make an appointment but due to substandard procedures the donor never come close to getting on a bed on time by during vitals check there is always one employee that flags you and tge majority of the others do or doesn't find the same issues so it is inconsistent
Not the best plasma center. The other donors can be rude especially when you're a first time donor and you get to cut the lines for the first visit. I received dirty looks and comments from other donors for misunderstandings during my first visit. The staff is friendly just not the most professional. I noticed they wouldn't go in order of priority. There were other donors who finished after me and they'd be unhooked first. I sat there for 20 minutes waiting to be unhooked from the machine while multiple tec
My first visit took about 4 hours and it was busy, but I appreciate the steps taken to make sure everyone is eligible for their donation. Everyone was nice and worked well together! It was an easy experience overall. :) I suggest everyone bring a book/crossword so that it doesn't feel that long of a wait.
Went with my wife and right when walking in got negative looks as well as negative attitude. After she was called I walked up with her and one of the nurses swong her arm up, gave me a half a$$ explanation as to why I needed to stay back and sit where I was sitting I assume for privacy reasons on the patient or over crowd control witch is fine, the attitude she had was not, I went to sit down and just scroll on my phone then a guy came to and told me I wasn't allowed in here to wait on her when my brother i
I was referred by a coworker. I originally went to a location on Franklin, that place is just scary please never go there. Every single person I've encountered here has been all smiles and love. They really make me feel that I'm saving lives. The fact they're all young in their 20s and are so happy about their job just make me come back every week. To add to it several of the workers also donate. I always feel safe and good hands. It's clean and I enjoy the environment so I partially go just for that lol. I
They lied to me they told me my first 8 visits id get $800.I donated yesterday it was my 3rd time donating.I got $50.I feel lied to and deceived.I will never donate here again. Please avoid this place.I highly recommend you to somewhere else.
Everyone is wonderful here!! While yes they are understaffed, most of the team stays positive and is going as quickly as they can. There are procedures to keep them and us safe since there is blood and needles involved!! I would rather wait and know everything is being done the proper way. I do agree there seems to always be others not as eager to jump in and help when they possibly could. But with that being said, there are different levels of qualifications for each role there and unless you can jump
What a great experience . Starting with Ashley and Valarie who seem to always remember my name when I walk through the doors, that would make anyone feel special. Ashton, Kylah, Caitlin, Andrew, and other staff members make the donor process seem effortless. Great staff!!!!!
The staff is always friendly and happy to help. I get to donate plasma while making extra funds. No complaints ever. Would recommend to everyone. Help your community and get paid for your time. Win Win!!!
I'm not even going to bother. It has been two days of calling to ask a simple question about the donation process and I can't get anyone to come to the phone, it keeps going to voicemail. After reading the negative reviews and experiencing this too, I am going to just pass. It's not a good look to not pick up the phone at all.
My review of the place. I can tell you that the staff is overworked, having to cover many different roles and are working long hours. I can tell you that managers are out on the floor to help as well. However, talking to donors that are standing in long lines because your staff is overworked that are getting upset that you seem to not really value your donors as you seem to think that you can drop the amount you pay us. Other centers are paying new donors $950 for the first 8 donations and $135 a week a
I have been the total of 9 times and only my first time was a bit of a bad experience, but the manager was very nice and made me feel alot better about it and I have had nothing but good experiences since, until last Wed. 5-8-24. I was only paid $40 for my donation, and that was not what I agreed to and nobody told me any different. I have called 3 times since, left 2 voice-mail, I wrote a comment through my bio life account expressing my concern and I can't get anyone to respond to anything. Not sure why, b
The last couple visits was good. Still having long lines,I received a covid booster, was told I had to wait two weeks by one nurse. Come to find out that was only if you went out of the country. So I lost money for two weeks on wrong information. I think that everyone should be up to date on the current procedures.
This place is honestly horrible. I've been donating plasma for years, and never had such a bad experience as this place. I ended up canceling all future appointments, I came in one day with nobody in, and fully staffed and still waited 2 hours. I came in and waited 1 hour after donating for someone to pull the needle out and a girl is begging people to assist me and they just come up with an excuse and walk past and look at me over and over again. There's no team work among most of the staff, management usu
The people are nice. They are short staffed. The wait time varies. It would be nice if you could answer the questionnaire you must do each time you are there on the app before you get there so you could just get in line to get your vitals checked. Slow moving from the time you get your vitals checked to when you actually get started. On my last visit my appointment was at 5:15 and it was 6:55 before I actually got hooked and going. Then I had to wait 15 minutes while several people walked by after I was fin
Didn't complete the donation today, which has happened before, but I only received $20 instead of the full amount?? might go back to freedom plasma
Several issues 1. Very disorganized (too many cooks in the kitchen) each time I go in there is another path you take. 2. Management walking around in circles doing nothing to help the understaffed phlebotomists. (Blue hair woman is very unhelpful) set up a machine!! 3. You need 5 hours for your first visit 4. Very slow check in progress- do your questions? then 15 minutes for blood pressure and a finger stick! And that's if you don't have to wait. 5. There is always some angry person starting a fight, or
I gave two stars because the employees are super nice and friendly, or it would have been zero stars. The first time I went I was there 2.5 hours only to NOT donate. It had to be 7 days since my last donation at the other center. I returned on the 8th day. They say first vist expect to stay 2 hours. I was there for 4 hours, even after doing most stuff the first time, and only two people in line to donate. There is a very predominate sign in there asking you to talk to a manager if you were unhappy. I
This place has gone way downhill since they opened. The machines failed to stop a blood loss and then didn't signal, so I was told I was deferred for 2 months at my NEXT appointment instead of that day. The staff messed up my SP draw, so I had to do that again, but the system let me schedule an appointment without it, so that deferred me again. They canceled my comeback appointment. And they can't get me through the physical part because my BP was up this time, so I wasted another appointment on this pl
Although the first visit was quite longer than I anticipated, the overall experience was great. I was expecting 2.5 hours but ended up being there from 330p-7pm which I understand was a big part of the 1st visit. Hopefully the 2nd visit won't take as long. Each person I encountered was very nice and professional. My phlebotomist did great with my stick and the experience was pleasant. Although very cold inside the building, I know next time to bring something to at least lay over myself as I was literally s
Everyone here is wonderful. Seen two ladies handle a very stressful situation like pros. And they didn't even have attitude afterwards they kept smiles on their faces. Thank you Andrea and Monet and Jacob for your hard work and great attitudes.
While I can understand the stress of being short staffed in a facility like this during the holiday season, there was no sense of urgency and no one seemed to know what the heck they were doing. My friend ended up being there for 3 hours, I was turned away after a vein check by this young sweet technician who seemed to not have a clue what was what. She found a good vein in my right arm but turned me away because she couldn't find one in my left which didn't really seem like that should be an issue consider
Very unhappy with my experience. Wasted my time after they disqualified me for a minor problem. I sometimes get a little woozy at the sight of blood, it's not an every time thing. They could state on the website or app in the disqualifying reasons that it's a problem. They could have said it was an issue when they asked me about it during my screening questions when I got there. But they waited until I was further along in the process and had been there awhile before the supervisor pulled me into a side roo
I had a great experience at BioLife plasma! If you are a first-time donor, it does take a while to do the screening and physical process. I went around 3:30 pm, and it took around 2.5 hours before I donated. I would recommend trying to go earlier in the day around 1 or 2, if you are able. Overall, the staff was super kind and helpful, and they made me feel so comfortable! I will definitely continue donating here.
Took over 5 hours to make my first donation. Do not expect to get out of there in less then 4 hours on your first donation. Nice people but they are mostly new and in training Update it gets worse now I was deferred and not told drove 45 mins to be turned away.thanks alot.
Great place to donate and pay good money friendly and respectful staff
Was a returning donor and was told to sit down and wait. I was never waited on and others went before me. Was never told we could directly come in and do the questionnaire and get started. No one checked in on me as they watched me sit there and get ignored and told the wrong information. Was never offered a water bottle that everyone else was given. Staff is obviously not completely trained.
I went there for my first time. And yes, I have seen the reviews. I can only say that they were very polite and professional. They helped me though the process and answered any questions I had. I'm sorry I can't remember everyone's name, but I had Nina, Marcus, the lady who did my phisical, she had long dark hair. and another guy who helped me with the process who was very polite and helpful. . I will recommend this place. Over and all, they made it an enjoyable experience... Thank you! ...... Tony K aka A
So I was informed last week that they lost a vile of my blood from my first donation, and I will be unable to donate until I come back to give them my blood, which is an inconvenience because I will not get paid for something that was not my fault. Was told I would hear back from them Monday or Tuesday. It is not Friday I've been calling them constantly, and nobody replies. 3 weeks later I had to call because nobody informed me if my blood came back. It did went to donate was told this is the last week of t
I have been going to this location since it first opened, and have nothing but positive things to say, especially about the employees. The facility is understaffed, but that is not the fault of the people who do work there. They are ALL kind, friendly and very accommodating in spite of the daily challenges they face. I am a very satisfied patron!
Would love to know why I'm sitting on bed for 20 minutes and haven't been stuck yet, the machine isn't even set up or nothing!!! The dumbest thing I've ever seen, they talk too much about nothing. 3 people are watching 1 person unhook wires, when 2 people can be setting up machines. Is there any management and supervisors, they cease to exist here. Appointment 2pm didn't get blood drawn till 3:30pm forget that I live in Blacksburg and will have to wait 4hrs for next bus. Will not be returning!!!!
If I could give -5 stars I would, this inconsiderate company keeps decreasing the money they pay their donors. When these good people clearly need the money to help support their families. Meanwhile, other plasma donation centers, like Grifols, pay more without an unbelievable huge line. In my case and one of my coworkers, we kept having to wait hours in line, only to be deferred donating that day for extremely silly reasons, that kept us from receiving the $100 per donation on our first 8 donations because
I understand why it's done this way and the people are, truly, very kind, but today?s grand opening was fundamentally dishonest. Any organization should be up front with people about their estimated completion time and when a waiting room is full of people who?ve already been waiting 4 hours, to not tell anyone coming in that they'd be better off coming another day if they value their own time is utterly unforgivable. Perhaps I'm just new to the idea and it's well known that donating plasma is exclusively f
Courteous staff and professional without being ?stuffy?. Great team, Roanoke!
Don't waste your time! This is the most ineffecient establishment I've been to. The staffing is insufficient to keep up with the number of donors and the appointments they scheduled. Waited over 3 hours and they said it would be another hour and a half before I could get the physical and would have to come back to donate another time. No excuse. Terrible manager that lacked compassion for the people that were waiting.
I had a very good experience at BioLife Plasma. When I walked in, Ashley was VERY nice in greeting me and taking my acceptable ID documents. She had a great smile. Vee was very easy and pleasant when drawing my blood and taking my vitals at the station. She was also kind and understandable when explaining the donor questionnaire. Next, Melony was great with my physical during the Nurse check-in. We shared our unique experiences with substance abuse in people and children. JJ and Kaitlyn were great with doin
They have a really great staff! Dr Monet is a blessing ?? the ladies up front are wonderful as well.
I was not pleased with my first visit here. As I was getting checked in the lady at the front told me I was too far away with my home address to donate today. This is one of the closer centers to me and was told I need to be within 60 miles from the center and I am about 50 miles away with my home address, the lady proceeded to tell me I was 85 miles away and when I looked it up that is if you were to take to longest back way to my house. There is no where on the website or app that I could find with this d
My first visit literally took all day (nearly 8hrs); I appreciate the screening and attention to detail. Each subsequent visit has been great, the staff are all great and the facility is clean.
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
