BioLife Plasma Services Rockford, IL

BioLife Plasma Services Rockford, IL

Reviews Summary

Reviews are polarized, with many 1-star complaints about long wait times (often 2-3 hours despite appointments), understaffing, disorganization, and poor communication. Frequent issues include slow screening, delayed donations, and rushed or unhygienic practices. However, 5-star reviews praise friendly, skilled staff and efficient visits when operations run smoothly. Compensation changes and appointment mishaps frustrate donors. While some appreciate cleanliness and professionalism, others report inconsistent care, with a few citing safety concerns or HIPAA violations. The center's performance appears highly variable—excellent when properly staffed but chaotic during peak times.

Customer Reviews

I been here multiple times and yes it gets busy and you have to wait too bad. At times it's because of issues with either machines or even patients and short staffed for sure so don't blame it in the team anyways the Team here at Rockford does an excellent job at keeping the flow and moving the lines and they always carry a smile on their face despite the craziness they even recognize me and personally say hello. I love this location and I hope there is more patient people in this world because it takes a l

All of the employees are so very nice! The facility is very clean and fun to go to with great music playing and even the other donors there are friendly. This is the only plasma place I will donate at, even though I drive further to come to it. I personally know people who received plasma and myself needed both blood and bone donated to me from a bad car accident when I badly broke my back. So please donate, even if it's only twice a year, it really helps...and you never know when it may be you or some

I first time donor, my appointment was very prompt, in 5min or less after signing in I was called to begin my appointment. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Facility is clean and we'll organized. I will definitely be going back.

Everyone that works at this location is so PATIENT and so nice. I was having such an off day and everything was not correct or going right. But they were so nice and understanding. They evenLaughed it off with me which made me feel at ease.

This place is a literal joke. The vital personal don't know how to get the blood off your finger and into the tube after they poke you and they wanna repoke you. Security dude is a joke too. Buddy plays tough when there's not even a threat. He followed me out running his mouth after I went back inside stating I needed a bandaid bc they sent me on my way with blood rolling down my finger. I would most definitely suggest telecris or csl plasma over biolife.

This place is clearly understaffed! Very slow getting donors on to the donor floor. They have 3 designated areas for donors and everytime I have been here only 2 are open. They have a hand full of people taking donors down and hooking them up. You're lucky if you are in and out of this place in 3 hrs or less. And that's as a return donor. Why make people schedule an appointment when you're never running on time anyway.

Appointment time was at 11:10 am. I am still currently sitting and waiting to donate. Still have about 15 more people in front of me waiting. What is the sense of making an appointment if I'm going to be waiting an hour to 2 hours more after my appointment time to be able to donate? This makes no sense at all. Plenty of beds open. Either short staffed or move very slow. They have a whole 12 beds open that are empty. Over 20 people are waiting. This is ridiculous. Now they decide to seat the other beds. Smh

The staff were very friendly and answered all my questions to help me feel comfortable on my first donation. I'm actually here donating for my second time today and getting treated just as well as the first visit. Thank you BioLife Rockford team.

The staff were great but after 15 minutes on the machine I started a reaction and almost passed out due to the withdrawal pressure being way to high and had to stop. At least I gave a good amount for a donation and would like to try again if they can lower the pressure.

Horrible place only wasted time but I am going to fill a violation to the Justice Department, I have PTSD but my condition is not extreme, even my therapist told me I am doing therapy volunterinly, I don't use medication or anything just my service dog, I went to donate plasma and when was my turn the lady said because I have PTSD I needed permission from my doctor, I do not need any permission from my doctor, I am going volunterinly is not as I am with a psychiatrist or anything like that, I am a sovereign

Workers that show up for work are very nice and helpful . They are stressed because they are under staffed. It literally took me over two hours to get into a chair today because they're short 12 bodies and people calling in sick. Y?all need to hirenew workers.

Good people, center is great.. it would be wonderful if my pay would be a little higher. Thank you

The staff is overworked, understaffed and unappreciated which leads to lower customer service. The line after you sign in for your appointment is anywhere between 1-3 hours. Donation takes 1-2/12 hours. Then you add another hour waiting and getting skipped at getting poked. And then waiting to be unhooked after donation. The place needs major improvements.

This plasma center is clean and pretty well ordered. There is ample parking and easy access. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Rachel and a couple others have been exceptionally so. Getting there at the right time is important or you could be in for a pretty long wait. I'm usually out of there in under an hour and a half.

They very respectful and take they time with everything they do good customer service

It's horrible, my first donation went well, but the second and the third no. the second donation I had a bruise on my arm and the nurse said it is maybe stay forever. And the third I started bleeding because they didn't put the needle correctly so I asked them to stop the process. but thanks for them for offering me to clean my T-shirt for free??. Sorry but if I want to save someone life I'm not going to put my self in a risk. I called the manager but didn't come so I had ti write here. + it will take you

Good place to donate plasma. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is great. Music changes every time I go there which makes it nice. I haven't been going last couple weeks because they dropped the amount you are rewarded. It's not worth the 60 miles round trip to donate. Especially with gas at 3.95 a gallon. So I will wait and see if the up the reward value. Went today 6.28.24. Looked like they were short staffed again. Once I got my bed I waited 28 minutes to get hooked up. After I was done i

Half the time you'll wait in line for 1 hour after your "scheduled visit" the other half it's a walkthrough. The staff seem friendly and professional. Otherwise compared to CSL it's about the same.

When trying to reschedule an appointment, it's not letting me cancel my previous appointment so I can reschedule when trying to call to find out if someone can help no one ever answers the phone. I understand that everybody is busy but when I leave a message, I still get no call back very disappointed

They are absolutely the worst and I mean the worst plasma donation center in Rockford they never answer phone calls even tho they have nobody inside. Don't support these place there absolutely trash

Decent pay but you basically need to be unemployed to come here because you will spend the amount of time you'd spend on a part time job shift waiting for a bed. Either severely understaffed or management does not understand their own volume times. Only two bays open with 14+ people waiting and they move very slow. You'll also spend an additional 30 minutes waiting to be hooked up to a bed. So if you come here you better be struggling because you can't do this really quick for some extra money, it basically

Look the staff here is amazing at what they do. Yes it takes a long time to get in and donate and everything. I would rate 5 stars but they need more people in there. There are way too much traffic coming in and out of there for the staff they got. BioLife find more staff or don't schedule as many people per hr. Today I got there at 9:45am and left at 1pm.

I have donated for several months now, and it's always clean, professional, and an all around pleasant experience!

I gave BioLife Plasma Services 5 stars because I didn't have the option to give them 10 stars. These people who work here are great. They are very friendly but also very professional. Everyone of the people that I've delt with here are very good at what they do. BioLife also pays better than any of the other plasma centers, there machines are way faster than any other place. Everything inside this center is brand new and kept very clean. By far the very best place to donate plasma in and around the Rockford

They do there best despite it being very busy most times they do a good job and prioritize. My experiences have gone great I appreciate every staff member

Not sure why they require you to have a scheduled appointment. Expect to be there min. 2 hours. The worse experience was: I've waited up to an hour to get on a bed. Then, wait half an hour to be hooked up. 40min. for the draw. Then, I waited half an hour to be unhooked. The quickest I've been in and out has hour and half.

Fantastic staff, but whoever makes their schedule should consider a new profession. The workers were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed today (Wednesday Nov 20th 2024). Wasn't an issue when I was here over the weekend, but someone really bungled on the scheduling. Still, the staff was friendly and professional despite the circumstances (bungled scheduling).

Staff is friendly and efficient. I've been donating for about a year and have always had a good experience.

My 1st time at BioLife so I figured I'd be there all day like other plasma places. But I was wrong....Great friendly and helpful staff. The entire process including a physical was only an hour and a half. I love making appointments for future donations so the place is never to crowded. My second donation was 30 minutes including my vitals and computer questions. Thank u. U are a great staff.

It's up an down. The staff can be really nice or super rude. And act like they hate their job. But I do like the new donor coupons and the appointments. And the speed you can get in and out is a great thing too.

The pay is too cheap it should at least be 150 a week yall going down less and lesser and I'm not driving way to Rockford for nothing less then 120 at least so if yall really appreciate my donations appreciate and respect my pay please and ????

Staff are nothing but liars, they defer people for no valid reasons and when asked they come up with lies and create issues. I will be taking legal action for defamation of character. I have seen security do absolutely nothing to assure safety, playing on their cellphone all shift, I've seen staff talk about others when they leave, sharing hippa protected information, this center needs to be looked at with all the issues and lies. Gloves are not changed as they should, many many issues!

Fast process, Friendly people working there. Very satisfied overall !

Staff is very rude!! My boyfriend tried asking a question and was yelled at by one of the people...so completely wrong and disrespectful!!????

The worse customer service experience I've ever experienced in my life!!!! Rude and unprofessional. I came for a 10:15 appointment that was booked in the app. For some reason didn't show up in their system. They book me for 10:35. It's now 11:02. I'm still waiting to be seen for my physical. I ask for an update they ?we're doing all we can? in a very cold manner. Worse bio-life I've been to by far. Never returning. HIRE MORE PEOPLE AND REOPEN

Fudge this place royally, tore both of the elbow wraps immediately when leaving and don't care if I bleed out from being jabbed by there huge 17 gauge needle just to find my vien . 2nd time going here and just utter waste. To be told I may be deferred. Guess what I no longer consent and want my profile and everything Deleted!

Today was completely unacceptable. After my donation, my arm wrap wasn't put on correctly resulting in a blood loss, and straight up destroyed my Nike hoodie. When I asked about compensation for my damaged clothing. i was handed a pack of goldfish and a powerade, and then was told to bring the receipt after i had it dry cleaned. It's a hoodie! who dry cleans a hoodie? Instead of trying hurry to leave, can the job get done first? All i'm saying is if anything with our donation goes wrong, its us the get defe

Where to start..lol MOST of the staff are AMAZING! They are kind, respectful and some have a great sense of humor. I am not sure if they are just understaffed, but there never seems to be enough people, for as busy as this facility is. If they had more staff they could actually do things a little more organized, and faster. It doesn't help that the three "doctors" that work there never seems to leave their offices. Especially when the lines just to get your finger poked wraps around half the building becau

Very professional staff! Makes me feel good about myself. I will keep coming back. Special Thanks goes out to Liz.

Very helpful staff, everything when very well,no pain whatsoever,I be back soon.

Great experience every time and I have been treated with the upmost respect every time. ATje staff is Respectful and patient. JESSICA is the best sticker and is an awesome employee. She makes my experience GREAT every visit. She works hard every time and is one of the reasons that people feel comfortable and return

Mayra and Mauricio always give the best customer service in center. You always see them running around in different areas to help. They are my go to whenever it comes to coming into the center and always provides the best service. By far the best phlebotomist/supervisors in that center. They always have a great attitude and personality when it comes to interacting with donors. Highly recommend these two!

The staff there is very nice and patient and very willing to help

This facility is filthy and unsafe! Employees where so judgmental and rude!

Really good experiences. RitaJean makes screening fun and pleasant. Jessica is great. Everyone does a really good job. I have not had a bad experience. Yes I had times with issues. But they did their best so you didn't defer. Rachel always is the best. I go back many years with Rachel and Cheryl. Everyone is awesome

It was very easy to become a donor but it does take a couple hours when you donate for the first time.

Place is well organized and very clean. The staff are professional, nice, and skilled at their jobs. The pay is also consistent no matter your weight. I have small rolling veins that are hard to catch which makes me stop flowing often. Nat, Rachel, and McKenzie knows how to stick me and keep me flowing everything. I recommend this place over my mom's own kitchen. I salute you and Happy Veteran's Week from a 20+ year army veteran!

My favorite phlebotomist RACHEL was the person who stuck me and she is always very friendly and professional!!!

JANET needs to get more training. Unprofessional, poor people skills. I dread every time I have to deal with her. If I could give 0stars I would. Too bad one employee just ruins the whole experience.

I was there on Tuesday November 19th I had a 10:00 a.m. appointment I walked in and there was 29 people ahead of me to get your fingers stuck .... So I waited in line behind all 29 people I finally got bedded and started my donation process at 1:00 I did not receive saline due to a national shortage which is fine whatever so I went to have a seat after my donation was completed and I took two bottles of Gatorade from the bed I did hear this little supervisor making noises and shaking her head and rolling he

I donated yesterday and still haven't received my funds and everytime i call nobody answers.

I was excited when Rockford opened a Biolife branch. I have been a plasma donor for several years. I hated going to CSL and Telecris because you'd have long lines to get to the computer, long lines to get screened and long lines for a donation bed. A friend who lives in DeKalb told me about Biolife and how nice it was and usually very little wait because they scheduled appts instead of FCFS. So I first started going to the Janesville branch and it was great! Clean, fast, and friendly. Then I heard the DeKal

Went in first time stand wating in the front no one help me. But when a white person came in, they helped her quickly come in for a 7am appointment it's now 8am.

Mayra and Mauricio are always quick and attentive. They always have a positive attitude when they are working and make the whole donation process easy and welcoming. They are very informative and answer whatever questions I had. Will be returning for sure!

I don't know what the heck Pamela was doing but I have NEVER seen an after donation ever look like this. The pain is ridiculous and because they messed up I can't go back for 8 weeks.

Andrea and Nat and Aaron were amazing and helpful. Everyone was honestly but I forgot the other two names. Wonderful staff. Friendly when I was nervous which is very important. Thank you all!

Honestly the worst experience of my life. I was like oh cool a place I can go that is 10 minutes from work. I waited roughly an hour and a half to just get into a chair to donated. Then waited another 20 minutes to have someone come over and stick me. Cause the girl in my area needed a break so she just disconnected one girl and just left to take her break. I was just baffled by this! I will drive the half hour to Janesville to have a more personal experience and have a better turn around time. You can tell

The staff are helpful and polite. But they are severely understaffed. I tried to go in 2 times after my initial visit and the wait was 2+ hours, which I waited and then was turned down after high heart rate due to anxiety. While waiting that long may be fine for some, my anxiety gets too high after 2+ hours of waiting and can't donate when my heart rate is over 100. So basically I wait for 2+ hours and then get denied because my heart rate is too high. It's normally 65-70 resting. If they increased the staf

Very friendly staff and they get you through quickly.

Kate and Natalya provide great service and always helps me with a smile. They always keep busy & in turn helping the floor move faster and keeping their sections running smoothly!!

When I first started donating, it took 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours to wait in line to donate. Then for the past month I was in and out within an hour, which was great. Today I came in and they switched the system and there are less phlebotomists and less seats open to where I'm waiting a longer time again. You either need to go back to how it was for the past month, hire more people or give more money. We're saving lives and deserve better treatment! Most of us have lives outside of donating!

Great people, however the appointment system needs work. Was over an hour past my appointment time before I was screened. Then another 45 minutes till started donation cycle.

If I could give negative stars I would! Please space out appointments better! Or open Mondays! The staff suck, no one changes their gloves! You will wait over 3 hours to get started. Then when you get done your machine will keep going off and no one will unhook you. Either hire more staff or fix the appointments by spacing them out 20 minutes apart or open Mondays as well! It's that simple!

Jessica, Nat and Ritajean are the greatest . They always try and make my visits as smooth as possible. Keep up the good work ladies.

I am so pissed. I came in for the first time on a promotion. $500 for first timers. $125 per visit for your first 4 visits. I had some heart rate issues I had to figure out. But, once I got that straight I continued. Tell me how, half way through my first 4 visits they changed the amount of the promo. On my third visit, I got $35.

Bio Life Rockford made me feel well i was nervous almost everyone was kind except one lady that walks around with a stank face she must be a floor manager.as soon as you walk in you can't miss her rude stank face. No one likes a snitch so nm , besides that everyone I mean everyone else was kind and very nurturing in the means of doing a great Job at work!! except that stank face! Thank you so much Bio life Rockford and Blessings

Machines mess up constantly causing u to be deferred for weeks, long wait times even with an appointment, getting called and sitting on a bed for 20-45 mins without even being hooked up, some staff are amazing the best people here are Rita, Nat & Rachel they make it worth going that's about it. Pay has went down each week 40 1st visit and $60 2nd from $50 & $80 is crazy pay should go up not down.

I try to always get stuck by Jessica she is so nice and she is always sweet n funny and she nows me by name and makes sure she has the paper tape that i have to have..i just love her personality and the lively ness she brings to the everyone around her

Wonderful staff and welcoming environment. Wait times definitely got better. Usually in and out in an hour cuz I donate less. Love coming here!

Went to Biolife today, first time ever going. I walk in and sign in on their sheet after signing up on their website. After sitting for 20 minutes a woman calls my name. Two of us stand up, I ask what the last initial is.... She begins to bark at me asking if i signed in...I say yes. She glares at me and says well do you have a red card? I respond this is my first time here. She continues to be a complete a** and I leave the facility. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. That employee left a bad

Love the people, they are so kind. But management needs to do something about the wait. 3 hours every time I go in is ridiculous. If there are not enough people or machines, then schedule less people. An occasional long day I understand, but every day? Something needs to be done. Not worth the 3 hour wait

I've been donating here for 2 months. Very clean and wait times have come down alot recently. The staff is knowledgeable. The only thing is one of the employees ( Zee) is very rude and has yelled at me for no reason. There can be people singing and acting weird like their on drugs but nothing is done. Please fix this as I don't think I should be worried about my safety when donating

Their timeframes this month have finally made this a viable option for my schedule I got in and out in about 45 mins. Whereas before it took anywhere from 3 to 4 hours to get through. And I feel much safer since the technicians are able to move at a sustainable pace now instead of before where you could tell that they couldn't even catch their breath. The staff are awesome!

Place is pretty chill, they do their best to get you through your donation fast. Shout out to Jessica, very professional and pleasant to talk to.

Quick, courteous, and kind. Check in was smooth and everyone was friendly. Christina was very friendly and professional- making sure we were comfortable during the donation process. Not my normal donation center but I feel comfortable coming back when necessary.

Despite the long wait time to get hooked up, the facility is clean and all the staff are friendly. Thank you to Jessica for putting the needle in without any pain (it hurts sometimes when others do it)

I don't know how some of them people in the back still have a job they be walking off the line unhooking other people you could be the first one to be done and still be waiting 30 minutes in the chair to get unhooked you gotta yell at them just to unhook you they pick and choose who to unhook first like come on now other people have other shit to do instead of waiting until they get done talking doing whatever they doing I'm not about to risk my health shivering in the chair freezing can't do anything abo

I wish I could leave 0 stars. The employees were nice enough, but I have a real problem with sitting in a place for 2 hours and not seeing ONE person change their gloves. The closest they got was one guy used hand sanitizer OVER the gloves. Absolutely disgusting. I can't believe I even let these people touch me. How can you let employees draw blood from multiple while wearing the same gloves?!??!? Not to mention they are also typing on computers, drinking water, etc. all in the same gloves. This is extremel

Jessica is amazing!!!! She stuck me and I didn't feel a thing. Very sweet gal. She is really good at what she does. My favorite here at BioLife!!

The nurses are nice and made me feel comfortable.

Have donated at 4 different centers across 3 companies in the past 15 years. You find small idiosyncrasies at any of them. Earlier opening hours would be great. Compensation is competitive but not the best in Rockford. Jessica was very friendly and considerate. It's a solid experience.

Completely disgusting that you only give employees lunch breaks. I will not be returning if that's how you treat your employees! By the way, Kim, Rachel, and Rita all deserve a raise! Whoever David is needs not to cancel appointments. He canceled my appointment because it was set for a physical/donation. An employee set my appointment. Why didn't he just change the appointment to donation only?

management is wonderful Jamie's pleasant warm-hearted delight Kate is one of my favorites she's one of my favorites she's tender right before she sticks me it makes me comfortable I give you guys five stars in the staff 10

Carol is great at making the process pain free and not having bruises afterwards. Went today and I believe her name is Allayah who also did a great job and was friendly too!

Jessica was very friendly and communicated when she would get to me. A+ also, maliha was very helpful and kind. Pretty also A++

These people had me waiting a whole hour to stick me. I'm a current donor , I don't know if I would call this discrimination? Or what but this ridiculous ?? Just because I was impatient one time , when I was ready to be unhooked and they took 10 mins to do so , I really had to use the bathroom ?? like any other person would had to , right after donation. And I guess they didn't like that but I wasn't gonna piss on myself !

Do not like the idea of standing in all the lines all the time with some people with your knees hurting and your back hurting and have to stand there for 45 minutes when you've made an appointment is ridiculous I'm thinking of changing donating places

Not sure what happened here. Place used to run like a top. Lines are always long, place is ALWAYS short staffed. Always have 2-3 sections closed. Machines pause due to mechanical issues or donator blood issues. Not a very well planned or staffed facility. Why bother to make appointments when the scheduled appt is always extended due to not enough staff. Management knows how many people are coming in per the appointments but do not plan appropriately, or for the unexpected. Staff is great, place is clean, ju
