Reviews Summary

The reviews show a mixed experience. Many praise the friendly, professional staff and efficient service when things go well. However, frequent complaints highlight long wait times (often 2+ hours), inconsistent vein checks, and some unprofessional or inexperienced staff causing delays or discomfort. Compensation drops after initial promotions frustrate donors. While some locations excel, others face criticism for poor management, false deferrals, and lack of discretion. Positive experiences emphasize quick, comfortable donations with skilled technicians, but negative ones cite disorganization, hostility, and unreliable eligibility assessments.

I love the welcoming atmosphere. The staff are all so nice and polite. They take the time to make sure you understand everything and always ask if you have any questions. When the process begins they make rounds to always repeat asking and are very experienced and know their job. Dakota and her staff are friendly and work closely as a team looking out for each other and the donors. If any team members need any assistance with a donor they are there for each other. Very professional

I chose very satisfied because of the swift and accurate service I received from the staff. I had an appointment scheduled for 3pm so essentially I thought it would run me really close to my appointment, and I thought I'd miss it. When I arrived at the facility I was able to quickly fill out the information on the kiosk. I was called from the line for the intake and the staff was very pleasant and gentle as it relates to taking blood pressure and weight. When I donated plasma the staff consistently checked

The staff here is wonderful ! They are always working hard to make sure things run smooth! I see a lot of dedication in what the staff does . It didn't just seem like a job , it seems like a passion and I have had a great experience every single time!!

I have been turned away three times from giving plasma. One time my iron level was too low. One time my protein was too high. I understand the rules and I accept them. But one time the young lady stabbed me in the arm and couldn't get a good connection so she stabbed me in the other arm leaving Big bruises on both arms. So two days later when I came to give plasma I was turned away because of the bruises that they had put on me. So 3 weeks in a row I was only allowed to donate one time. But the people there

They always treat everyone with respect and care about your health. Always make sure you're comfortable. Make sure your hydrated eat things like fruit and vegetables don't come on an empty stomach plenty of posters there to inform you or ask any employee there. They more then willing to inform you on the does and don'ts.

I like the idea of donating plasma that helps others while being compensated for my time. The experience can be relatively quick. Unfortunately the center is a good 45 minutes from my home and sometimes you get deferred (temporarily turned away) if your pulse is high (over 100), your blood pressure is high, your temperature isn't within a certain range, or your blood levels (hydration) is off. I have been deferred a few times for my pulse being too high and once because my temperature was too low. It's very

They are fast... I can go in here, do my questions, get to the line wait like 5 min in the line to get checked, wait up to 10 min to get a machine have a dope technician to accurately insert the IV (without missing; unlike the Baltimore National Pike location) and be done within 45 min. So basically I'm in and out in like an hour!!! I recommend this location to everyone!!

I just tried to donate plasma and they rejected me - all my numbers were fine but my pulse was too high. I am neurodivergent and have anxiety, and this place is bananas and no one tells you what is happening. OF COURSE my pulse is high. It didn't help that the person taking my vitals clearly did not want to be there, never even looked at me, and was rough with my body - as evidenced by the 1/2-inch bruise left on my fingertip from a simple test prick.

Hires anyone with no actual experience or actual phlebotomy experience or license. These people just get to train on us like test dummies and then they hurt us, leave us with messed up veins, bruises, scars, etc. The money is not worth it just to have long term side effects like excessive sweating, passing out, vomiting & diarrhea. This is to save other peoples lives while putting yours at risk especially with untrained unprofessionals. Definitely not worth it.

Today, Saturday, October 12, 2024, I had a 9:35a.m. appointment. To the phlebotomist employee who knows what she did to get me deferred. You better pray and hope the cameras doesn't show what you did. Now I'm being was informed that after today, I wouldn't be able to donate plasma again until December 7, 2024. This is not right, and I don't agree with this. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Maryland Department of Health's Office of Health Care Quality.

Terrible staff! You must weigh over 200lbs plus to work there with attitudes from everyone but the nurses and Sarah the manager is amazing! The rest of the staff is racist, I am a Sicilian woman married to a Ghanaian man! We come together ever time we live in Bel air Md. I was left 20 mins plus with the needle in my arm after donation before it was removed! Sat 25 mins in a bed before was seen everyone else of the same color was nicely spoken to and helped. The stares and attitudes never stop. My husband m

Donating is smooth every time I go. The questionnaire is straight forward and the taking of vitals is done quickly. Techs are very skilled and good at their job.

This was a quick and easy process the first time I came. But now it seems like every time I go in, I'm waiting 10-15 minutes to check in with someone, and then another 20 minutes to be hooked up to get my plasma drawn. Then I have had to wait a long amount of time to be unhooked. It's very inconvenient when I have other appointments that day. Besides that, things have been okay. I've only been badly bruised once to where I couldn't donate the next time. A few of the employees that put the needle in are a lo

I truly enjoy knowing that I'm helping someone in need. Unfortunately my last attempt to donate wasn't a pleasant one. 1st I noticed that the person drawing blood from my finger stepped over to the wash area after she gave me gauze and I realized she was not wearing gloves for the blood draw. 2nd when she came back over she asked me to step up on the weight scale and as I was up and moving onto the scale I asked for a bandaid because I do bleed more than most and she actually had a attitude with me and said

I have been coming to this location since they opened it has always been a good experience. Today by far was the most heart breaking experience for me to the point I never want to come back. I have a routine to use the bathroom directly after screening especially if it's a line for bed which today was bed wait. I went directly to the bathroom go back to standing in the bed wait line was approached by the girl who mainly does the new donors adding there info in the system told me I went outside when I didn't

Horrible! I went in today and donated and the manager told me to wait a hour. still didn't receive my pay! It's always something going on with the ?system? at this location versus the other centers in Maryland. Just go to a different center! Management sucks and shows no empathy

Not happy. I tested twice with false positive for a STD mind you I'm 66 with two long term relationships. So I was a confused when ?they? said I tested false positive for a STD. So then they run another test and I'm assuming they used the same blood and that came back false positive again. BioLab is saying I can never donate again. So I am concerned enough to contact my PCP and request a blood test. A few days later I got my results and there was no trace of an STD. So of course I called BioLab becaus

The staff at the Towson Center are very nice and I like how they help one another to make sure everyone is taken care of.

Wow never had anybody these problems. Every now and then shat goes sideways, but been coming here for like 3 years and 85% of the time they are fabulous, helpful and kind. Labs can be off, I've been deferred for low protein levels a few times. All ya gotta do is eat more protein, take a multi and go back and get a protein level done....ya don't have to register or wait long You'll get a call and an email within a week and if your levels are WNL, you're good to go!!! Think biolife Is bad, go to Octophar

The experience is always professional, safe and friendly. Staff members make donation process very comfortable.

Don't come here for the new donor promotion. They will only let you donate a few times before telling you that your protein is too low. So you end up only getting half of the money. It also happened to the person that referred me. Be warned.

Techs are fast but kinda passive aggressive but I get it , the nurses was sweet the only reason I'll donate again

I had a horrible experience with the manager, Ty (pronounced "Thai") today. As I was trying to understand some policies involving eligibility she quickly began to get very hostile with me and tried to turn me away several times without answering. I asked her why she was being so rude and condescending and she told me my questions were "frustrating" and to stop asking her when the "computer says what it says." I was trying to get a better understanding of why my eligibility was being turned away. For all she

For the most part I haven't had problems and I honestly do a lot of prep before driving from Whitemarsh. Most of the staff is attentive, but there have been a few instances where they are not & I was stuck incorrectly & some phlebotomists would move the needle around a lot, I find this unacceptable. causing either a large bruise or a small bruise preventing me from donating before the bruise goes away, i.e. most recently. Not everyone is the same as far as their veins & I think possible re-training is neces

Super nice folks. They walked me through the process and made sure I was comfortable. The process was relatively quick and painless.

It went a little bit longer than expected for it not being my first time, but think that was due to the amount of people donating at the same time as me, so absolutely no complaints on my end

This is the worst center ever! I have donated plasma at 2 centers in the past and this is by far one of the worst ones I've ever been in. They do NOTHING but waste your time! They have you waiting 2 hours, literally to be able to donate just to tell you you can't because of your veins being to small or whatever the lazy tech feels like making up. I work at a warehouse and drink water all day everyday, I have never had a problem with my veins at any other center but EVERYTIME I come to this one, there is an

The people out there is very nice they make u feel at East to donate o don't see any sign horror able like some of the reviews

The place is great but but I earned an extra five dollar for 100 visits and another $5 for 1,250 points but at the same time the next week I donated they deducted $15 from my donation amount so really I didn't get any extra they took it right back. It was really disappointing after all the effort of getting a hundred donations.

Staff are incredibly kind, responsive, well natured/good humored, and get the job done quick and easy!

Today went well. I had gone through the vitals line and the girl who did my vitals had a attitude and seemed like she didn't want to be there. But when I went to donate, everything was awesome! Autumn was very sweet and kind!!! Love her!!! Everytime I go, she NEVER has a attitude she's so nice and she's understanding. I also love Brian, and Dakota also Brittany. They are my go to when it comes to knowing my veins.

The staff here is always kind and welcoming and work hard to minimize wait time. It is clean and the beds are extremely comfortable.

I signed up for a Promotional rate, $650 for 8 donations within a 30 days. The sign-up process/first donation took almost 3 hours which took longer than I was expecting. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly and professional. All in all, it was a pleasant experience and the only negative is the waiting. I would donate again.

Staff was very informative and hospitable. No issues with finding these veins, barely felt a thing.

I never knew what I was missing out on when it comes to these machines here in Texas. See, I usually go to biolife in MARYLAND, where the the machines are 3 times smaller, taking 3 times longer. So yes 5 star across the board for the biolife here in Texas. In & out in under 50 mins? sometimes in MD the vitals take over an hour alone? so TEXAS BIOLIFE IS AMAZING!

Each time I have gone in for my appointments the entire staff has been friendly and professional. Even my first visit to get me registered. I cannot say enough about how safe and comfortable I am throughout the entire process. The lounge chairs, equipment and the entire area are very well maintained. The entire process is about 1 hour. I am glad I have started this journey.

My first visit to this location left me disappointed and frustrated. Upon entry, the atmosphere was unwelcoming, and there was a strong odor of weed, likely from some of the clientele. This situation suggests a need for the establishment to enforce stronger policies regarding substance use among donors to maintain a professional environment. Once seated for a vein test, I experienced a long delay. I waited for 20 minutes without any staff interaction, leaving me uncertain about when I would be assisted. Th

Was not a very pleasant experience. I went in for my first donation and went through the physicals and everything. Everyone was very nice to me until I got to the blood donation part. After roughly 2.5 hours of waiting to do the blood drawing my appointment was cut to an end. The first technician that saw me left the blood cuff on my arm for roughly 10 minutes and completely forgot I was still there waiting for her to check my veins. I had veins visibly showing and even without the blood cuff I have veins v

They barely give you good money now that the service has become popular. The lines take nearly 2-3 hrs just to donate blood and receive $30. The staff are completely overworked and give off hostile attitudes because their employer refuses to open more than 3 stations at a time to handle near hundreds of patients showing up within a 1-2hr time frame. I need the money but now the money is barely dished out like it used to be and with the absurd wait times, I would recommend going to another branch. Update t

This Towson facility is a joke. You can see from the extremely low ratings how horrible they are. They constantly leave bruises that lasts for days and sometimes weeks. They're all talking garbage and cursing to each other like they're in the streets all the while poking your arm with a needle trying to find a vein and then ?jab? the needle into your arm. They're are very few tech?s that are quiet and professional and do a fairly decent job the rest are jokes of techs. Wouldn't surprise me if someone files

I've found that the folks at this location are constant professionals as well as have a genuine concern for regular folks like me. Thank you all ??????

Miss marissa is a great sticker!!! Nice and gentle. I love how comfortable this location is, and how respectful the staff are. Also, Mr Brian, Miss Ashley, Miss Jennifer, and Miss Sarah are great sticks too!!!!!

It was Fair. The young lady bruised my arm & I had to ask her to clean the chair & change her gloves. Perhaps inside training is not good, in regards to Plasma Donations. There should be "skilled" individuals, that are professional, know exactly what they are doing.

It seems like the place might be understaffed. Some of the staff are friendlier than others. It was my first time going to any appointment and it was a waste of time. I got to the vein test and they turned me away because they ?need a good vein on both arms?. It's an excuse because you only need one good vein since it's only one needle. I have a good vein on my left side. They turned me away with a made up excuse. I can tell they were overbooked because there was a long line when I was leaving. Because they

The tech that stabbed my arm was very rude and unprofessional, had an attitude the whole time, not greeting patients, was so unapologetic when she was told the patient was in pain and no communication with what she was about to do next when moving the needle and needed to change the arm of the patient, and did not check on patients to see whether they are feeling alright or not. Worse experience EVER!

I gave 1 star bc I was deferred for a medication that I was told would not disqualify me.

I had a very positive experience the first time I went in. I spent about an hour or so between waiting, taking the questionnaire, pre-screening, and the required physical. (I was told the rest of the process could be about 1.5hrs or so.) Unfortunately, they couldn't find a vein so I was given a "Come Back" coupon to get $20 extra on my next two sessions if I return within 30 days with the expiration date noted. No problem. Can't be mad that they didn't find a vein. The woman was nice and said, "At least nex

Expect to wait an hour before you can donate. Understaffed and the staff is always socializing with each other. Followup visit: Stop allowing so many appointments for an obviously understaffed location. The last 3 visits I had to wait 50 minutes just to be tested. then another 30 minutes to start actually giving plasma. I was there for a little over 2 hours all 3 of those visits.

Facility is clean. Donation process is easy and fast. Staff is professional and kind.

Place is 100% trash they have u sit for 2 hours and tell u u will get 140 then check if u have 2 usable veins all the way at the end and if u don't u don't get a dime. They can literally check that soon ass you get there to save time or use 1 arm like the other centers

While the wait can sometimes be long, most of the staff are great - Ashley, Chase, Lily, Sonia are super friendly and personable. Sarah, Evangela, Autumn, Brian are friendly and super competent at the sticks.

At this location, Brittany embodies excellence, dedication and expertise in her job responsibilities. Karla exhibits a high level of proficiency, dedication, and expertise in her job performance at this location. Highlighting the above mentioned names does not diminish the excellence of the other staff members at this location who perform their duties with equal proficiency. Overall, I am impressed by the cleanliness of this establishment and the efficiency of its processes; my visits rarely exceed an ho

Wow ?. The pregnant Caucasian lady was very rude during my screening. The black guy with the braids that has his hair shaved around the side is very rude and mean. I wouldn't of us and no one there all go back there, so unprofessional takes too long to get seen.

I've been to multiple BioLife locations. This is by far the worst. The doctors for the physicals and the technicians handling the plasma donations in the back are absolutely wonderful. The technicians doing the initial blood draw and screenings are the most unprofessional bunches of ladies. They always have an attitude. Most either grunt or motion for you to do something instead of using their words. The amount of eye rolls they give patients standing in line in absurd. Many times the line for intake will b

I was very disappointed in my latest visit. I came in as a new donor. I scheduled my appointment over the phone with a rep, she was awesome, for 4:50 pm. When I arrived at 4:50, I signed in and sat down. I waited over an HOUR and some minutes to be seen only to be told at the vein check point that I couldn't donate that day. Over an hour of my day and life WASTED! When I came in there was a lobby of people. I understand it gets busy but for around 20-30 min I was the only one waiting to be seen.

Never even made it to donating stage. Went through the entire intake process. And at the end got flagged because of a tattoo. Their ?manager? was on a flight and couldn't review it. They said they'd have an answer in 5 days. A month later I finally called them to see what the answer was going to be. The receptionist acted like she didn't know what to do, so she wrote down my name and said someone would contact me. No one ever did. Worst plasma place I've ever heard about. Go to CSL or even OctaPharma. If th

I love going to a place where the staff takes care of you and want to make the most of your visit. Dakota took good care of me! She's gentle with sticking the needle in my vein and she is very sweet. I love it! Marrissa is also sweet too. Love her!

Clean facilities, friendly and informative staff, I was treated with care on the entire process. One star less because once you finish the first donor program the payment is pretty low for donors who lived a hour away and they want you to donate twice same week. Hopefully they take in consideration donors not living near by.

Although it was a busy time of the day, there was plenty of staff to make the process go quickly. As always, the staff were friendly and helpful.

Brian is amazing! He always checks on his donors and prioritizes donor comfort throughout the experience- you can't even feel his needle sticks! He is thorough and efficient! Overall this place has tons of really awesome employees and it's a good atmosphere all for a great cause!

Everyone here is really nice and professional. Things generally go smoothly. The only problem I have is, the more I donate, the less I receive the next week. I was getting $130 regularly, then it tapered down to $110. The email says "we'd like to reward you", yet, they're taking money away weekly. In a way it's like being punished for doing what's right. It's principle to me. Not being greedy, but, if you offer something, shouldn't they up the amount as we donate as opposed to taking away? Nothing to do wit

They pay new donors very well. After that first payment schedule they offer you only half of what they paid you initially. Not going back for $45 a donation when I was getting $90. Very professional and other than compensation I have no issues

improperly trained staff shouldn't be on the floor . Leaving bruises, then not allowing return donations. I AM a phlebotomist and TOLD the girl what she was doing wrong..Then on my return visit . I'm denied bc of tte improper stick.

Brian is very knowledgeable and professional, he is gentle when he sticks and does not leave bruising . He's quick to get the ball rolling you don't have to sit on chair and wait to get needle .. great conversationalist (makes time pass quicker) miss Brittany taught him well !

Everyone from check in to donating is so very pleasant and is very attentive to make sure your feeling well and if you need anything. Just an all around great experience with everyone there . I have a few favorites that I have over a few others, a few younger, newer staff that I'll wait for them to get more experience before they stick me , but everyone is very professional.

I have been donating for just under a year now. I have to say Hands Down Towson has the Best Staff EVER!! They are All so nice (Even All the Newbie?s) They just are very welcome and are willing to answer any questions you have. I give them 1000 out of 10. You guys Rock and Thank each and everyone of you All.

They take 2 to 3 hours for a donation I sat at a chair for 20 minutes while the techs chatted and joked with their friends.

My left arm got badly bruised and the bruise is getting bigger everyday. My arm is hurting. I can't lift anything. I can't pull the seatbelt in my car. The lady in the suit said she would call the next day but she never called. I am going to sue that technician. She disfigured me. Is this bruise ever going to go away. I feel so sick.

There are many times when the girls will lie and say that your iron is low when it's really not. I went to the Towson center after a physical at my doctor's office where I'd asked them to check my iron levels. The used the same process...finger prick, mini tube, centrifuge...my iron was 45% when I got to BioLife 30 minutes later Caitlin (only filled the tube half way) said my iron was 35%. I explained that I'd just had my iron levels checked by a doctor. Swizette said that my iron levels dropped. My doctor

My first appointment took six hours. They really should not be accepting so many patients if they don't have the ability to get them through. Especially when they want you to have eaten a meal within the last two hours. I had one of the earliest appointments. I'm sure the people who arrived after had to wait more than six hours. The employees were nice and worked through.

Very clean and friendly atmosphere. During my donation Janea was very amiable and passionate about a safe and timely donation! My absolute preferred location!!!

Great up until this point. so they Hired this new girl. Hasn't been here 6 months. Gets mad with me because she had to ask for help to answer or explain something to me better. When i tell you it was a walk away situation. You already know what that means bottom line- Stop hiring little whiny girls to do grown women jobs. Its a small world ??? . Imma let God and Karma handle this child. Update called back and got a regular who fixed my issue that tweety bird couldn't n gets temper tantrum when have to ask

Brian was was excellent and very efficient and I hardly felt that 18 gauge needle going to my arm. LOL All staff here was very pleasant and very proficient .The facility was very clean. Especially, the first young lady that waited on me she was very calm and very pleasant. I enjoyed my stay and look forward to coming back Sincerely; Freddie Gaskins

I went there for my first appointment. After waiting for 30 minutes, the lady with the clear rimmed glasses checked me in then proceeded to the vain test. I waited for another 15 minutes sitting in the chair until the soured face looking lady who seemed not happy with her job, without any proper greeting, asked me to take off my jacket and rolled up the sleeves. She asked me whether I had drunk enough water, and I said yes. Then she said no for the donation because I had to drinkore water. Well, how could s

So happy to be a part of this community to help others. It's a very simple process once you pass a few test. Staff is super friendly and a very clean facility to give blood at.

I went a couple of days ago everything went well . I got into the chair and was greeted very nicely by swat ,my experience was great and she did an amazing job getting me hooked up. Thank you again swat!!

Im a new donor and I was super nervous. The staff have been very reassuring and friendly. The facility is super clean. The music is lit everytime I come in. Definitely helps time go fast. After your first appt.. you're in and out! Even though you set at an appt .. they let you go eat first if you forgot. I work overnights so I definitely appreciate the lienancy and reminder.

This location definitely need more assistance in the front to do vitals . Some days it be just 2 , other days 1 and if new donors come in ; that push you back for your turn . Especially for the first 2 hours in the morning; you need to have more staff available knowing the morning it be busy . I have been coming to this location for a year now . And it's sad ; but the best time to come is in the morning I've came afternoon and late evening . Those wait time just for vitals were horrible . I suggest you get

This place is like no other. They treat you in a manner diametrically opposite what they advertise. They never have convenient appointments available, you have to schedule far out, then when you get there they send you away for ridiculous nonsense made-up reasons. I went there 10 times and they had every reason under the sun to turn me away. I went to another location and went right in. I should have done so sooner. It's awful when employees don't support or seem to care about the mission of their employer.

I've had the worst experiences dealing with this place. To start, it took forever to schedule an appointment due to no availability. When I was able to schedule my first appt, I arrived 30 mins early and waited another 30 mins to be seen. They then asked me to reschedule because there was confusion about my arrival time, despite the fact that I checked in when I arrived. After getting that cleared, I was registered and made a donation. When I tried to schedule another appt, I was unable to because my last

The employees at the Towson location are all exceptional people. They need more support, get additional employees and plasma machines into that place. 2+ hours for a donation is getting old!

While I feel like the staff is always amazing, I do feel like the center is extremely under staffed. I made a 10:30 appointment it took almost two hours for my donation process to even begin. They need to consider their donars time is important. I'm a longtime donor at this location and it's only gotten worse in previous months.

Good morning, this facility is not only in a decent area, but is also one of the most professional establishments, and to add they play pretty okay music. The employees are gentle and very friendly,I would also like to say that out of everyone who works here, Marissa is one of the best, great convo, very pleasant, working hard and displays great pride in her job.??????????

The comfortable and positive energy I received from start to finish was great. Everyone works as a team to get everything done and everyone taken care of. Overall my experience was great ???? ???? ??

Decent facility, clean, and I've successfully donated a couple times. My issue is that 15 days after my initial donation, I arrived to the facility for my appointment, and was notified I was locked out of my account. I was told by an employee I was unable to continue donating due to my initial protein sample being incomplete. I was verbatim told by an employee that the sample might have been marked as incomplete due being it being ?dropped? or just simply lost. Staff here is usually great but this was a hug

Ghetto, yelling out your info and business in front of everyone. No discretion at all. Then if you have a scarf on your head they won't you to take it off...ma'am my hair isn't done why would o do that #1 and #2 it's my DNA you're taking so why is that even necessary. That's ridiculous to me it doesn't even make sense....AT ALL!

IDK why this Place get so many bad reviews. People will go out of their way to leave a bad review but won't leave a good one. Even at it's busiest time I'm always out of there within 2 hours. If it's not busy probably a hour. Very good phlebotomists, especially Brittany ! IDK the others name but staff are very friendly, efficient, and fast paced !

My First experience went very well. The nurse Jessica made me feel comfortable. Martina was very welcoming . Also jewel stuck me and didn't have a problem made it quick and easy. All while being friendly. I will be returning.
