I've only been to this location twice, both experiences were good. Staff is friendly and line didn't take too long. Vounda helped me out the second time and I cant say enough positive things about my experience! She was super nice and friendly from the beginning, bed side manner is important to me. I've been donating for quite a few years and I can honestly say this is the first time I've had a great experience from start to finish. Usually I have to get my needle adjusted at least once or staff has to mess
I have come here 4 times and every single time they have ruptured one of my veins. Today I had to stop because they caused me a hematoma. It hurts so badly and I was crying during it. After they took the needle out of my arm the lady asked if I want to keep going as I was in pain and bawling. The other times I've been here I was caused a lot of pain from up to 4 employees at a time trying to get it into my vein right. 0/10. I don't care how much you need money DO NOT DO THIS. I will never be back here ever
I have been coming for over a year and enjoy it a lot. The employees are the best part. They make it a welcoming and positive place. I struggle with anxiety, at times, and they do a wonderful job of easing my mind before they stick my veins. The only downside is when the location is busy with donors and understaffed. That is not entirely in the control of the location and doesn't happen often. I monitor appointment times to avoid this most of the time. I have to give Olivia a BIG shoutout for making sure m
I almost always have the best experience here. The few times I've had an issue, they have been right on top of it. The whole process is typically very smooth and timely. The coupons or promotions they put out are good, too. Great staff, good bedside manner.
Each person is clearly aware of whether it's your first, second, or third time sonating. They explain each step of the process in detail, outlining what they are doing and why, so you feel comfortable throughout. The staff at the front are quick and friendly, while those at the back are very efficient. Typically, I can get in and out in 45 minutes when I visit after work.
Good afternoon, my 7 previous experiences were excellent, this time it was number 8 and nothing to do with the others lasted an hour and ten minutes exactly donating had never happened to me. Instead of filling 3 and a half pots I filled 11 pots counted by me and said the machine which caused me a lot of anger I cried they did not give me a satisfactory answer of the pique that happened that I practically made a double donation what a bad experience the truth I hope it doesn't happen again neither with me n
I've been a BioLife member for a couple years now and today I came in to donate at 8:45 it is now an hour past my appointment time and I'm still waiting in line to get a chair. I usually go to the Ankeny location as they usually always have appointments open even the day of scheduling and I'm in and out of there within an hour and a half, but I wanted to donate early in the morning which was just a mistake as I'm still waiting an hour later still not in a chair. This location is understaffed and if you want
This center is unreal. For being such a nice center, it's incredibly disappointing how they let their staff treat donors. I've been back to BioLife for 5 months. Within 1 month - infiltration, major blood loss (2 month deferral). Finally get back, my right arm starts acting up due to overuse from not having good veins in my left. Signs of tennis elbow, so I stop using it and switch to my left - play the cards with mediocre veins. There are a few great phlebotomists here. The problem is, they could all be
I am a regular donor at this facility and typically enjoy my experience. This morning after going to my vehicle to get a pair of headphones I was turned away when I returned 30 seconds later. Staff stated a policy that "once you have completed your questionnaire you can't leave the building without staff knowledge." This "policy" is something you just have to know because it isn't logically post on the door or an knowledgement you make during the questionnaire you must fill out. It just applies after the f
I got ?permanently deferred? because I have Celiac. I have celiac that's well managed by following a strict gluten free diet, I'm maintaining a healthy weight, and all my blood work is NORMAL. I asked why they didn't have anything posted on their website about Celiac?s not being able to donate, and the nurse didn't have an answer for me. I left work early for this appointment too. Super stupid and a complete waste of time and hope for easy money.
Went in for my donation as I normally would and the older African American lady at the front desk was, STUCK UP, RUDE, and very disrespectful. Her attitude ruined my whole donation to where I told her that I will actually no longer be coming back due to her and walked out, when stating that she laughed and stated that it doesn't bother her any!!! VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL
Closed my card and will not donate any longer due to your rude front desk African American female at the West Des Moines location, who refuses to give me her name after asking multiple times, even hanging up in my face. I schedule today?s 2:50 pm appointment two weeks ago, only to have her call and cancel at 2:40 pm. Asked her what her name was three times and she refused to answer, and hung up in my face. Walked in to the location since I was already nearby to ask the nurse how often this happens and other
I've been going to the BioLife in west Des Moines for a little over a month now and have never had an issue until my last visit. Usually, I'm in and out and no more than an hour because I pump really fast and I've never had any complications. I went one week ago today on a Saturday and they weren't that busy and I was the first person to be seated in my section and the very last to be helped. I even had an employee come up and was shocked at the fact that I was still sitting there without being helped. I di
A young woman named ?Anna? or something similar was working the front desk, and was extremely rude. Doesn't need to work in public, if they don't know how to talk to people.
UPDATE 4/22/24: Go to Ankeny location if at all possible! Complete night and day difference. They have appointments available on the same day you want to go. And employees to open up and run ALL areas not just 2. WDM is back having an hour wait to start your donation. This West Des Moines location goes up and down with service on a regular basis. Lines can be 30-45 minutes or more just to get back to the donation floor. Management generally hides in their office when they could be on the floor helping them
I have been 3 times. 2 times there were issues. 1st time clotted at the start, 2nd time blood went "under my skin" a couple minutes in. I could tell there was going to be issues from the nervouness of the staff. Twice I presented a coupon that was emailed to me worth extra 50.00 and both times they said I couldn't use it. Also, the front desk ladies are always snappy. I'm not going anymore. It is unfortunate because it is close to home and I planned to come regularly. Here are photos of my arm the 2 times t
Just finished my 1st donation and no complaints, everyone very nice and helpful. I would recommend BioLife West Des Moines. Great job!
Lines outside the door. Lines inside the building all the way to the daycare room. People that are sticking have tons of empty beds. While they stand around and talk. Only one person called back per 10 mins to sit to give plasma. People want to give help but the estimated wait time is ridiculous
Clean facility however they do an awful job staffing. I could understand if it was a walk in facility. Everyone has to schedule. Why is there only 2 people working when you have a line of 20 people.
Vounda is the best! If someone is going to stick me I want it to be her! Painless and quick on the first try. Give her a raise!
These workers are terrible! 1- I forgot my cell in the car, Ugh, it's not the rules that I was upset about, it was the the careless attitude they showed. 10 minutes waiting for someone to come to walk with me to the car to get my phone. The front desk lady requested twice someone to walk me to the car. One lady took almost 10 minutes to buckle her gown, and another guy walking around totally ignored her, until this lady for 3rd time told to one who finally finished buckling her gown walked me to my car. 3-
Don't injure people on the 6th and 7th visit of a 8 visit promotion, forcing them out of the promotion timeframe. I was given hematoma on my 6th visit and then a saline inflation on my 7th. Which caused me to take a week away from donating to heal - this then pushed me out of the 8 donations within 30days promotion for new donatees. Management on site wouldn't do anything to help and essentially said I'm shit out of luck. The manager told me to take away from donating if arms are unwell. My right arm was
I finally gave up after an hr in line and it hadn't moved anywhere. With 30 people standing in line and only 3 sections open this place is a joke. Need to change how many appointments can be made for select times. The worst biolife I've ever been to honestly
The procedure takes about 45-1 hour. Plan on being there a minimum of 2 hours every visit. The staff won't engage with you, they would rather talk to each other and joke around and have a wonderful time while you have an empty needle hanging out of your arm. They have no respect for you or your time.
Horrible wait times. Workers are just chatting it up like we have their tie
It can take a long time to get hooked up and disconnected. I feel things could be run more efficiently to get people in and out. I've been the first in line and the last to leave multiple times because people get hooked up before me or disconnected sooner. I feel it would be more efficient. If you had a couple people hook up the machines, a couple people, disconnect people, and about three or four sticking people. And people need to be helped in the order they arrived, not in the order of the section they a
I had an awful after-effect of donating and they truly went above and beyond to make sure I was okay! I got called back the day after my first appointment to make sure I was feeling okay. They took great care of me and I think I will donate as long as I can! Natalie, at the front desk, was especially great! She remembered me coming back the following week and made sure I had something to eat and drink.
The wait at this location is ok. But I wouldn't recommend this location if you're looking to be treated with respect. I came and had an issue according to the computer so I turned around to look for some help. That is when I was greeted with ?do you want something?? with a rude tone. After I explained the issue she seemed annoyed and expressed a tone and body language consistent with not wanting to be bothered with this. She wasn't very helpful and dismissed my issue with a ?sorry.? As I was driving home, s
The person that helped me, Ashley G, was the best I've had. The stick I could hardly feel, best one I've had. She said only difference is she goes slow. She is the kindest and most supportive! She should be in role of mentoring and training others. Her backup Ashley M was great too. Ashley G needs recognition!!
This was my first time doing this and I was really hesitant. But the staff's dedication to a very rigorous process indicated their dedication to safety. Everyone was extremely friendly and easy to talk to. Especially, my phlobotomist Maya who explained the process in detail which eased my concerns. I really felt like a super hero that provided a portion of my life force to those in need.
Out of the 3 different facilities I've been to, this facility has been the best! Yes, their wait times can get long during peak times, but they are short staffed like everyone else. And you are getting paid to be there! So why does it matter how long it takes? The facility is always clean and decorated for every holiday. I've met all of the nurses over the years and they are wonderful and always so helpful. The staff here are amazing! Some of them really try to get to know you if you are a regular. It's al
So just FYI, in case you're not aware, they're supposed to give you a 10 minute window to make your donation time. But they will lock the doors here (I think they log off their computers too) right at 7pm. So if you have an appointment at 7, better be there right before 7. That's kind of BS. Probably against BioLife's company policy. It might take 5 minutes, or 30 minutes to get through the dang line. So it goes I guess. We out here trying to make a living and make a little extra money but they can't be bot
The staff is incredibly rude! I made an appointment and they got me in for a finger poke and weight check quickly but the lady who did it was very unpleasant. First, I did try to take a picture when the woman was taking blood from my finger which caused her to get upset and tell me I couldnt take pictures. Mind you this isn't posted anywhere so if you need to tell people they ?aren't allowed to take pictures? then post that you don't want phones whilst doing examinations! I was then told I couldn't donate
Worst supervisor ever. They suddenly canceled all their appointments and didn't call until I was in the process of checking in. Like whoops! I see you made it all the way out here, but go home. I don't know why they canceled. Figured it must be a good reason. So I try to reschedule for a different day. However, the online app won't let me reschedule. I ask the supervisor for help. She ignores me. I ask again she says ?don't know. Weird.? Goes back to ignoring me. I sit for a second and realize it's becau
I have been donating for several months now. The process is simple and there is usually no waiting. The staff members are friendly and very informative and willing to assist and answer any questions that you may have. I am on a first name basis with several of the staff and I enjoy talking to them. The staff always checks on you and always asks if the process was ok.
The staff at both the West Des Moines and South Des Moines locations are wonderful. They seem to genuinely enjoy their work and are attentive, helpful, communicative, and friendly. The donation process is pretty simple, but be prepared to spend a few hours at your first appointment and a couple hours at following appointments. I actually look forward to having the time to sit and read or listen to a podcast. The payment and scheduling process is convenient and I appreciate being able to manage my appointmen
Everyone was very helpful and made things easy to understand. Also while donating plasma I was comfortable and had no problems. The technician helping me out also took the time to explain every step of the process since it was my first time which was very appreciated.
I have went twice so far , the staff were polite and helpful. My first time donating went fine , the second time I ended up having a reaction and the staff was quick to respond as soon as I told them I wasn't feeling well.
The facility is clean and orderly. The ladies that work the front desk need a class in professionalism and customer service. Every front desk lady i?ve encountered has been unnecessarily sassy, unprofessional, and unwelcoming. Although I assume they are already getting paid to work there, it costs $0 dollars to be nice to others. The ladies in the back however, such as Cameron and Brianna, are beyond kind, gentle, and informative!
I came in here today with no gas money to get home and they turned me down because I'm too far from home and they said they didn't care and it wasn't their problem. Meanwhile they give my friend who IS able to donate a hematoma due to their lack of knowledge on how to insert a needle into a vein. They don't care about your health or your situation in here, so lie to them if you want your money and be prepared to walk away with a bruised up arm and looking like you shoot up drugs.
The slowest BioLife in DSM. Literally see staff just standing around ?watching? an area while others are almost running around them. Team work is definitely not a priority. Be prepared for it to take 90 minutes at a minimum.
The location was chaotic. No one seemed to be in charge. When I finally got taken back to donate, the supervisor Jordan was horrible. His needle poke was excruciating, he did it 3 times. They didn't have anything to squeeze, so they gave me an empty cardboard roll. They had to stop, and the poking caused bruises for over a week, which disqualifies you from donating. I don't recommend this location.
Most of the staff work at a very slow pace as if they don't care. Most don't talk to you unless you start the conversation. The low amount of money you are now paying is almost not worth my time and effort to come there, wait in line, wait to be hooked up by slow workers who move at a snails pace, donate, and then wait to be unhooked, at times up to 20 minutes by workers who don't seem to care.
Wait times are long. Most visits to this location average about 2 hours, which is an hour longer than I allocated. Once the initial rewards for month one are complete, it is hard to justify two hours for a $40 donation.
Some days are good some days are bad. Normally I schedule early in the am to get in to get out before work at like 6:30 in the morning. 75% of the time it's not even worth the time. The team is so under staffed and can keep up. They will even speak up about that.Very poorly managed. Today 52 people scheduled for 6:30 and only have a few sections open. You stand in line for an hour and fifteen minutes before even getting a bed. Then another 20 minutes to get hooked up. 45 minutes to donate and then 15-20 to
I've had nothing but GREAT experiences at this BioLife. I truly don't understand the bad reviews that say ?this place is so bad because the wait is long?? blah blah blah, because the employees really have absolutely no control over when they get crazy busy. The staff in every part of the facility have always been helpful, informative, they're clearly moving as quickly and efficiently as they can, and I've felt very safe with each person I've worked with. It's also cool to see how all the employees interact
Scheduling is horrendous at this location. I would totally understand if people called out sick causing the horrible wait times on occasion but no. It's every. Single. Time. If the staff are unable to meet the metrics that are required to keep appointments timely, then adjust the schedule! I get that is something the center may not have control over so someone at the corporate level needs to fix it. Or at the center level have fewer pods available for scheduling but staff for more. DO SOMETHING!!! It's so d
They have professional nurses that work there. The only easy time for me to come in is on the mornings. My last visit wasn't a good one, so I'm waiting for a while to go back. I had a huge bruise on arm, and the needle was inserted to the side. I went through it, but maybe I needed a break anyway.
Staff is fantastic! Friendly and professional. I appreciated them valuing my time and doing their best to get me in and out quickly. As a norm, it takes about 1 1/2 hours to go through the full process, but today they got me through the process in 55 minutes. The facility is always clean.
I have been donating at Biolife for over 7 years. I am giving this rating based off my last donation experience. My donation process had to get stopped early due to a machine or a set malfunction. It was not separating my plasma from my red blood cells. I was unable to get red blood cells back or saline so it was considered a rbc loss. If you get two within an 8 week period you are deferred for 8 weeks. I have not had a rbc loss for quite some time-years- and was told that my one is considered 2 and I can't
Staff is great, Sarah and Teresa at the front are top notch and professional and friendly. The techs are equally as great. However, suddenly the wait times have become ridiculous, why? A 6:45am appt and I am waiting 45 minutes for a seat. Why the drop in what you receive for donating? Should be the opposite especially if wait times are going to be this long. Thank you
8/3/23 ? just when I thought they had it together, they are fumbling wait times. they only have one tech staffed to screen donors and the line is 30 deep. it's 9AM, please get it together. they're also fishing for positive reviews via posted signage. it's like they know they need the help on Google Reviews. 1/12 Pagers at 930 in the morning. Ridiculous lol 11/20: Things are slightly better during the day time for getting right in and out. cannot comment on the evenings! 9/23: Things Aren't Any Better. I'
This is probably the most disorganized business I have ever been to. My first appointment I was there quite a bit longer than expected and could just hear the chaos between all the co-workers. Nobody knew who was supposed to be working or covering what shifts. The nurse who did my physical just came in from smoking and smelled up the whole exam room. I was not able to stay for the donation since I was there so long and I was told that if I didn't come back to do the donation in 6 days and I would have to re
The best nurses and staff! Maya is hands down the best!
Have been an avid donor. Staff are great. Negative part to reschedule on app. You have to cancel other appointments to reschedule. They used to give coupons for loyal customers they stopped. Recently they started dropping price on donations. Lowest I've seen it $110. They have sweepstakes yet they don't post who won. Would be nice if they compensated by tier as before. Not little amount first and second donation higher.
Friendly & helpful staff. Wait times can take awhile but they work to get you in & out as quickly as possible. My only complaint is I wish they would do more promotions for current & frequent donors. Pay per donation for current donors changes from week to week and typically get lower instead of higher. No incentive for regular donors.
Promise did everything in her power to make sure I was aware of every step, comfortable, and safe throughout my first ever donation today! I wasn't able to complete the full donation, and she was immediately by my side when I had symptoms. Super sweet! Made my experience so much better ??
A number of months ago I left a less than satisfactory review. Great news, the level of service many of us had grown used to a few years back has returned. Hats off to the team for working hard over the past couple of years to get back to providing a great experience. The ladies upfront did an amazing job of keeping everyone moving and Patience was engaged and nailed the stick!
It's been nice to see the appointment duration drop closer to an hour vs 3 hours on the high end. Esma is always a joy to work with first thing in the morning and the rest of the staff is wonderful. Most of my sticks are usually pretty painless. Clean environment and knowledgeable staff. My only hesitation from 5 stars is that the front desk is unable to help me schedule appointments with their new app roll out. I cannot make any appointments through the new app, so I would hope that as the developers are
I am a first time donor. Everything from checking in to the actually donation went really smooth. My nurse Codee was phenomenal. She help ease the nerves. Promise from the donation area has a great personality and made the entire experience great. I will be back.
This place is so terrible at scheduling, it's so fricken annoying. People have things scheduled throughout the day and work, but they overbook every single time slot and on average for my last 8 donations, I had to wait 50 min before I even started. In the past this was 50min to 75min average for entire process but now it consistently is a 2 hour process. If you're going to take this much longer it's time to start giving more money to compensate people's time or stop overbooking.
I was there for two hours. Appt at 12:30 and didn't even get hooked up until almost 2:00. What's the point of making appts. People working but lots of talking
2022 - The time it takes to donate isn't bad - that's once you're in the chair, but the scheduling is awful. I stand in line for 1.5 hours on a regular basis - that is with a scheduled time. This last time they said my eye was slightly pink and told me allergies are bad this time of year and I couldn't donate - the nurse asked if I wanted to reschedule tomorrow... No thanks since I have seasonal allergies my eye will probably be a bit pink tomorrow too. The money really isn't the worth the hassle and time i
Everyone always makes it easy and go fast very professionally! Mya is the best very friendly always in a good mood I always hope I'm in her section!!
BioLife has an interesting system, but works when there isn't a super long wait. All the staff I have interacted with is very nice. I had a pleasant experience with Esma during the screening process today and Miracle the one who hooked me up to my machine. I didn't feel a thing! But to be honest it doesn't always run as smooth as it did today. There are days when I come to donate and it takes 3 hours from start to finish which in my opinion is a long time compared to what used to be only an hour for me. I k
It was my very first time like EVER donating in my life and all because of JANET (South Dakota)....because of her fantastic people skills, she was very warm and welcoming, helped guide thru the process and just made everything very smooth and comfortable. She is your best asset in this office! I will always donate here because of my experience with her today. Thank you so much JANET!
I always have a wonderful experience at this center! Kind staff, short wait times, and fantastic services! It's never painful to donate here, as the staff care about the donators! :)
Been going several years. Staff has always been great! Wait times are way better than years past. Teresa is an amazing professional. Anna is courteous & careful. Jessica has the smoothest sticks ever. ??
Felt as tho I was targeted and biased against. I was questioned on my hygiene as that was a previous statement last time I came here. But was still put through. The questionare was almost like intentionally made to be tricky. Like have u donated plasma at another facility? Another BioLife? Or another business like BioLife? Medical questions should never be tricky.
Great and easy way to earn extra cash. Center is always clean. Wait times vary, and can be longer during peak times, especially when they send out deferred donor promotions. Staff is friendly and efficient, they take great care of their donors. It's obvious they take pride in their workplace.
The people I feel the worst for are the employees sticking those of us who are donating. I love making small talk with them and based on what a handful of them have divulged over the last year or so I wouldn't be shocked if a bunch of them up and quit. So many of them are visibly just burned out. Management says the demand for donations is at an all-time high, yet appears unwilling or incapable of hiring or training new employees to accommodate the demand. I understand it's not a job where you can hire peo
Absolutely loved my experience here it was my first donation and I greeted very warmly by mrs . Natalie she was very kind. From the get go & I felt so welcomed by her. Proceeding to the. Vital checks the lady explained everything clearly and also was very kind & I can't forget about chase he did my physical & was very caring I have cerebral palsy so he made sure I could lay on the beds comfortably before proceeding he was very cautious with everything & thoughtful & super friendly as well & Cameron was
I've been donating at this location for 6+ years and recently have noticed my wait times lengthening significantly from what appears to be understaffing. the staff they do have at the desk and on the floor does a great job but they seem stretched super thin. If donations continue to take so long, I will consider going elsewhere.
Staff is friendly, very informative, welcoming.every donation gone smooth.very upbeat associates, informative.personative , people that you would want to hang out with on your day off.have 1 con note-i am or was a continuous donor, but got hurt, broken shoulder,in meantime I've seen the payout have started to fall, leading to me not wanting to come back.the study extra pay helped with gas just to drive 45 miles one way.but done away with that too.makes it hard to even come back . please bring back extra pay,a
The staff is great, but only when you can get in to see them. Not sure what the point is of scheduling appointments when you can't be seen at your scheduled time. Staffing is obviously the issue, but I'm going to put the blame on corporate for this. I explicitly overheard staff talking about how plasma was in more demand so they (corporate) opened up more appointment times without increasing staff which is a really unfortunate corporate issue that should be addressed. Staff turnover is crazy high and obviou
Usually flows pretty nicely. Fridays I book my appointment 3-3.5 hours before I work and still don't get to work on time. If they don't have the staff, appointments shouldn't be every 5 minutes. Maybe every 15? But it takes two hours JUST to sit and be poked? I still have to work but it takes forever. Fridays are...maybe too busy for the staff.
The center is great and for the most part staff is awesome. I have troublesome veins and I have to have a lead to my poke or I get turned away because they can't ?locate? my vein. Yet, anytime a lead does it the donation goes amazing. Biggest downfall is that I have to clear at least 3 to 4 hours of my schedule to donate. I have tried different days of the week, before lunch, after lunch, and early evening. Only once was my appointment under 2 hours. Currently I am sitting on a rock outside 30 minutes past
At this point what's the point in having an appointment? I pull up not sure what's going on when I see a line outside the building. (Long line) I think to myself well I have an appointment so I should be good to go. NOPE. Had to wait in line 25 mins past my scheduled time. I get that they are understaffed just like the rest of the world but they should cut appointment times down to accurately to accommodate the people. Send out extra coupons to even make it worth people?s time, because at this point everyon
Started donating here a couple of years ago and it was great! Almost always was in and out in around an hour. The place has completely changed in the last year though. Appointment times are meaningless as you will almost always have to stand in line for an hour to even get screened. I hit my final straw last week when I was given a pager, waited in my car for an hour, went in the check on how much longer it would be and saw that even after I was paged I would have to stand in a super long line the went thro
Ameerah has done an incredible job! I started donating soon after she started and have seen her progress. She always has great bedside manners. The entire staff is always happy and willing when I come in
Tips to Success: 1. Do your own financial tracking. They will lose your appointment?s donation sometimes - and they fail to send out ?completion e-mails?. It's important to make sure you have proof you went. 2. Add an extra hour (~1.5 hours to 2 hours total). Lines can be long and employees are consistently working, but need to perform tasks. 3. Use coupons. The place won't go out of their way to show you they exist, but they do; and they're worth it. Again, refer to #1 to make sure you make the most of you
Edit: 10/1/22 update. Scheduled an appointment for 3:25 on a Saturday. Did the questionnaire and noticed that there was 1 person running the entire front and looked like 3 pods open. I didn't move in 30 minutes. Decided there was a chance I would've been sent home at closing, I did t see being able to donate today. Still avoid. Wait times are outrageous, staff is rude and short. 2 to 3 hours visits have been typical, even though you make appointment you get a buzzer. Staff was very rude to me at front desk
Extremely disappointed when you have a set appointment and come to check in to donate and they tell you that instead of going through the normal 10 to 15 minute screening process in order to get started that you will need to either take a pager or give them your cell number for them to call you when they are ready for you. I was told to wait in my car, which may take an hour to get called in to start the process of donating. This happens frequently I am told by their staff. They do not accept walk ins an
I was nervous about donating but the staff really eased my nerves by calmly answering all my questions and talking me through the whole process. I really love how friendly everyone is and how they'll small talk and joke with me. It's the most laid back hour of my day when I go. Yes wait times can be long in peak days but if you chat with staff they are quick to tell you when slow times are if there is a pattern. I've learned that Saturday is the best day to go and Sunday is the most busy day. Also, the p
I go 1ce or 2ce a week. I enjoy the staff, very pleasant and knowledgeable. Scheduling appointment times are made easy online. It is, which is also important to me, a very clean facility.
As a new donor I'm happy to say that my experience at this location has been quite pleasant and easy. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and are sure to guide you every step of the way. I'd also like to give a shout-out to the lovely Phlebotomist Ameerah who was very attentive and sweet during my third donation.
3 months ago the tube that was in my arm somehow got cut, it was maybe 2 minutes before I realized what happened, then took me about 5 minutes to get a technicians attention, it took them another 5 minutes to come check on me. Once they realized what happened, now I have 5 technicians just standing there for another 5 minutes before they start doing anything to get me unattached. All in all I lost about 2L of blood. ***Edit I've been coming back and have had great experiences, the wait times are a little m
I had an appointment scheduled for the last 2 weeks now at 7:05am today. I showed up a few minutes early and go in. Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
