First visit: "You made a new patient appointment, but there's not enough time today to do it." Second visit: "Your pulse is too high." Tested it myself, your equipment is off by at least 10%. Third visit: 3-Hour wait to see a nurse. Nowhere on the paperwork does it say diabetics can't give plasma. I mentioned being diabetic to every staff person I have spoken with at every visit. I haven't taken bovine insulin, or ever been to Germany. Don't waste your time.
No one in line, 4 employeese behind the counter. Now, they say yoy cant donate unless you hav3 an appointment. So i say, well im here so lets make an appointnent. They say, we will this time but next time you have to make an appointment. So they schedule me for 45min. Later. I have and seat and lo and behold: they just continue to play.
I been trying to donate thought this company two times I drove there from where live it 40 minutes to get there ! Both times there nurse was very rude about my medicine I am on an she told me the doctor didn't fell out the paper right they wanted from doctor even though she told me it's only about Subbox ! But nope it was to do with all the other medications I am on ! I just wish he would be more upfront about everything she needed and treated me like I was on drugs I was very confused by her actions
The nurse was very kind at this location, however everyone at the front desk was notably rude. I would recommend going to another location if you can.
Great staff and environment, the guy who helped me during my dizzy spell was amazing. What annoys me is how I only got $35 instead of the promised $75. I gave a full 1000, why didn't I get my full $75?
Everyone was so nice. I had a dizzy episode and the staff treated me with such kindness and compassion. The staff member that was responsible for my donation treated me like a friend, so I felt comfortable letting him know that I didn't feel right. The front desk staff was wonderful as well. It was nice to hear them chatting and laughing, it made me comfortable and feel relaxed.
Easily one of the most horribly-run establishments in Carbondale. It is commonplace to be waiting for 30 minutes to an hour and a half just to be told that you wasted your time and to come back tomorrow -- half the time for something they could have made clear somewhere before you'd even been there for 5 minutes. One time, I was told only after I'd been there for a significant amount of time that apparently I was due for a physical, and that they stopped doing those 45 minutes ago. My friend spent close to
Staff is wonderful. My only complaint is that I miss the prize wheel they used to do.
Staff is terrible, they treat you like you're trash
Your staff needs to be more polite to your donors. We take our time to save others. Get your business right!!!!
The first few times I went were good but now it seems like they don't have the staff to keep up with donors. I'm usually waiting 2-3 hours and notice when in the back, the few staff present take ages to begin AND finish donations. A man in front of me has been sitting unhooked for 20 minutes and 2 people have been ready to be unhooked for 30! This is really ridiculous, I don't want to be a partypooper and blame it all on staff chatting/joking instead of paying attention but the optics ain?t good
insanely rude staff who don't care. will talk to you like youre trash. always understaffed. you'll get treated like you're a number, not a person
Really wish someone else would take over this facility. They are very rude to donors! They don't stick people properly which causes them to bruise and then they are mean when they tell them they can't come back to donate. Seems like they don't want to pay half the time either.
I've been going there for a while, it used to be decent. The staff isnt very friendly and don't know what customer service is. I've had good and bad experiences here. The bad outweighs the good. And overall the service sucks. Reason I rated two stars is because if you need extra money it's there. Hopefully they'll hire some more decent workers who actually have experience working with the public. Definitely won't be back for a while after today's experience.
You expect people to be able to donate, yet there is no chairs for the people you have standing up for 45 minutes to an hour at a time. It's stupid. Then have us sit there for 15 minutes thinking it's going to lower our blood pressure even though, if you guys had chairs in the first place it would've never been a damn problem!
It's an okay place. The staff is usually very friendly. Sometimes they even play good music but that's entirely up to you. There was one day when I heard something extremely inappropriate music being played in there. They don't have any scheduled appointments so you have no idea of knowing whether it's going to be busy or not. You may end up standing around for hours before you even donate. Then if you don't come in for a while they'll send you a message saying "make $800 this month for new donors" Meaning
Highly disappointed with this company. Not only are their payouts not worth it (not truly what's listed as potential on site) but it should NEVER take 5 hours, especially on a Sunday morning. It would have been more lucrative and less time consuming to drive to Paducah and donate then to come here. It would have been less time with an hour drive time each way, plus the donation, then to drive 15 minutes here. That should speak volumes in itself. Don't waste your time, we certainly won't be in the future.
Very disingenuous about their compensation rates. I was told that my first four donations would be worth 200 dollars each when I first came. My third donation was compensated only 125 dollars. I called to inquire about this and was told that the rates change monthly, and any of the remaining 'first four' donations that month would be also compensated 125 dollars. My fourth donation (during the same month) was compensated 85 dollars. Regardless of what amount I receive, I would appreciate much more transpare
Waited in line for over an hour for donation. Left my headphones in vehicle. Announced to the staff I was going to get headphones. She looked at me and nodded. I came back and the same gal said she had to cancel my visit. Thanks Izzie for nothing
Happy with the promotions, especially for April, those made me start coming back, but I have to spend at least 3 hrs in there every time. Also, because I take one medication (which never changes) I have to see the physician every time which prolongs a half hr at least each time. The place is definitely understaffed but the staff that is there are all great people and good attitudes most the time.
This place, BPL is AWESOME! I love how polite everyone is here and how good of a quality service is provided here! I've been coming here for about 7or 8 years and it feels like home. Also if I worked this would be my dream job or career, but I've still haven't heard anything about an interview! But overall this place is home!
I came in to close to closing time the first time I was here.I presented my identification and they apologized for the inconvenience since I was to late and gave me a voucher for $20 extra for my next visit. Up on arrival of my next visit I present my proof of identification and my voucher and I got turned away because I had tape on my driver's license. My first encounter no one expressed any problems when I presented the same pieces of identification. I drove aost an hour to get here and depended on the mo
Friendly, caring, careful and efficient staff. Clean environment.
Absolutely love being a donor at BPL. They have a great staff who are improving every day. Yes, some days the wait time is longer than others but over all, getting paid to sit around is nice right ? Donate!!
I have been donating my time and plasma to this location for over a year. Several of my friends and family also have been donating for a while. As a regular you would expect to be treated well by the staff, inducing management. This is no longer the case. There are several people that are now working there that are just down right rude and cold human beings. There is one that works there named Ashley, she has a facial piercing that is just disgusting as well as unsanitary for the type of business this is. S
I've been here a few times, payout is significantly less than CSL Plasma. Majority of staff are nice. Today Rob was very rude with me because I forgot my donor number. I was told that giving my social was fine and Nate even agreed. But Rob acted very upset about the situation. He wrote down my donor number on a slip while mumbling the entire time. I was nervous to have him take the needle out of me. I'm going to make sure I ask for someone else to take my needle out next time.
staff is excellent but waiting time during peak hours to get checked in can be long. And after checking in, the wait time on the donor floor can, at times, be over 1hr.. due to not enough staff during peak times and lack of bed space at times since they got rid of 9 beds or more to another center, and constantly having 1 or more machine out-of-order. Once a person is checked in at the Kiosk, they should not have to endure another long wait time on the donor floor. I've had to wait almost 1hr to get checked
Great place! The process isn't terribly long. Sometimes it does get backed up but they're only human they can't do everything at once (and if they did they'd risk doing it wrong) and do try to be timely. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the 58 questions at the kiosk. It has been since at least December maybe November and they're still 58 questions every donation. I've debated if I should stop coming until the 58 questions are lowered.
Friendly staff members who do whatever they can to ensure your donation goes as smoothly as possible! But honestly if some people that work there hate their job so much they should quit??????? just my own biased opinion though
The staff is touching everything with the same gloves going from donor to donor,to the trash can they dispose of the used bio bottles, never changing gloves. This is a quick and easy way to spread infections and diseases
In just an hour you can make ~$30. Most of the phlebotomists are pretty good at sticking. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because a couple of them shouldn't be sticking people and the kiosk questions. If you donate multiple times a month one question that says has anything changed should suffice. The staff is pretty well friendly which is also a plus.
"Horrible wait time. Staff is very friendly, but in my experience I have came here countless times and waited longer than 3 hours. Half the time I would not even be able to donate due to having a bruise on my arm from the first donation. When solving the bruise issue wait time is still unbelievably horrible. Today I have currently been here for 3 hours and still haven't even started the donation process. I recieved an extra 5 dollars for waiting but its not even worth it. When you call ahead of the time, ha
I've never written a review for a plasma center before, but I just have to write one for this center. I was a resident in Carbondale, for a short time. I donated here for about 4 months, 2 x a week. I've been to plasma centers all throughout the country, over the years and never have I experienced the level of friendliness, professionalism, and kindness that I did there. I mean, I literally had a crush on everyone there, front and back of the house, they are just so darn SWEET! And everyone there is great a
Most likable friendly staff, always cutting up while maintaining a professional attitude. Love these guys at the Carbondale office. They mskm the painful (metaphorical) process so painless. Always giving the chance for more incentives. It's simply great.
The staff is friendly and work with you. There is a female staff who does the booth is awesome. Don't know her name but she has long black hair with glasses.
It was my first time donating today. The processing in and out was smooth. The staff are very nice, and just want you to be on top of all the risks and requirements to donate. Didnt hurt as much as I thought lol.
Well I been donating blood plasma on and off for about 3 years. Clearly we will all like some people there and dislike others. The staff as a whole is okay. Most are pretty friendly, but then you got a few wild cards that think they can treat people however they want. But it should be noted that some of the staff really stand out as hard workers and awesome people.. On that note, I have been deferred 2 times..Once was on purpose, or at least that's what a staff member told me. Reason? I came right before c
I drove 40 minutes to this place. I arrived at this establishment at 9:55am as a new donor, I walked out of the building at 2pm still not have completing my initial physical let alone a donation. The quality of this business is disorganized and unstructured. I've donated before, at a different location (another state/establishment) a long time ago and when a New Donor walked in, they were walking out in 2.5 hours or less. It should not take 4+ hours of waiting just to get the physical done. They need a bigg
Ever since they changed owners, the place is no longer a pleasant one. The wait time has doubled, even at their busiest times, I used to never wait as long as I do now. Most of the people doing the sticking are new, and they have issues. My longest donation time used to be 35 minutes, now I sit with a needle in my arm for over an hour. They have to constantly mess with my needle, and still can not get it right. Then they offer contests that not everyone gets to partake in. Right now it is lottery tickets, a
(Edit as of 7/19/17: the facility has lost many machines so wait time is very high, the staff don't seem to be following proper procedure anymore. I feel as though the staff is over worked and is rushing) Great place to make some extra cash. Just be prepared to wait a bit.
Very disappointed!!! I am a regular donor here with my boyfriend, and this evening I was told they had to refer me because they do NOT have the bigger BP cuff. Absolutely ridiculous that they got rid of the bigger cuff and now are turning a plus size person away with out compensation. I have never heard of not being able to do a BP on the forearm? if a doctors office approves it shouldn't this place?
Great people who work there. Friendly and do their best to make your donation go well. I always make sure that I am the first one in the door on the days I donate. I have been donating for 8 years and have made new friends with staff and other donors.
When I logged into the kiosk, there was a group of people about 6 waiting to be boothed and 3 people waiting for a kiosk to open. By the time I finished the questionnaire, the group waiting was down to two and I was boothed shortly after. When I got to the back, I was almost immediately stuck, and was even allowed to request who performed my needle stick. It can sometimes be a longer process than this, but they genuinely try to stay on top of their work, and often the wait time just depends on how many othe
I am diabetic and take insulin and had been rejected from similar procedures for this, i called ahead and was told to come talk to med staff, after being in their process and reviewing and checking that only bovine insulin is a flag and over 4 hors wasted to be told i cannot donate when i should have been told over the phone
I was having a bad day when I went into the donor floor. I kinda jumped the gun and wrote a lousy review. Before I even left Rob came back and asked me how long I was there. I told him it was longer than I thought it should've been. They were kinda swamped. Rob came in and was helping do DC's. He gave me a front of the line pass, which he didn't have to do. I was very appreciative and impressed with the speed at which bad reviews are addressed. He made up for any inconvenience I had and I thank him for that
Good concept, except for the fact they will defer you for every reason under the sun they can find to defer you. I originally enjoyed my time here, but after wasting 70 miles to be deferred because my heart rate was 3 pulses over the limit, I was done. The man Jared who is the medical supervisor is so rude and literally just shoved a needle in my arm, and the organization at this place is horrible. The card they give you hardly ever works, and the staff here don't care that you wasted almost $10 in gas just
Very unorganized and rood. They follow up messages and phone calls like we were debt collectors begging for money. They prove time and again you're only a number and their inconvenience for the short time your there. I would say you'd almost have a better experience extracting the plasma yourself at home then bringing it in
I would not recommend going here at all!! I have been donating plasma for many years in different states & have never experienced the horrible treatment that I have here! The staff is unprofessional at best, records as well as bloodwork has been lost & had to be redrawn, equipment is never set up and ready, the wait when done to be taken off is too long & the supposed manager does nothing at all to help his staff!! I have left there twice only to see blood running down my arm as I approached my car so had t
I've been to BPL Plasma on multiple occasions, only to be met by professionalism and education. I ask plenty of questions, and recieve answers each time. Whether they needed to verify or ask another employee, they are sure to answer. Also want to point out Jessica (who works the front). She knows how to balance kindness and professionalism. Always has a smile on her face, and seems to really enjoy her job. You go girl!
I'm very frustrated with the staff they are very un communative and sassy. Sat for 5hours just so I could fail the physical questionair. To tell me that I couldn't donate. Then a lady tells me that I could come back tomorrow and repeat the process. Just a waste of time.
We previously had an issue with the cards used for payment. Once my husband was able to speak to management, they were quick to resolve the issue and very friendly about it. My husband will likely be back to donate in the future.
This is one of the best places I have ever donated. I haven't donate in years since moving to Carbondale and after being recommended here I can on in. They introduction and all the screening for a first timer my feel exstinesive but was nesscairy and I wouldn't have it any other way. The people on the donor floor are all very nice and while I may not be able to say the same for the people can work the front desk it's not a deal breaker. The promotions are great and th vending machines are amazing.
The staff is always professional, friendly, and work to make sure your experience is pleasant. They work hard to make sure you get in and out as quickly as possible as well.
It really depends who's working the front. I had to go last weekend and "everyone" was nice. The people in the back that stick you are the friendliest most of the time. I did however Google what a container of plasma is sold for and it made my jaw drop. The newer computers when you walk in make things seem faster, LOTS of questions though.. :-/ Lots of collage kids most of the time, but it's all about location I guess. Well, and collage kids need money a lot, so yeah location.. Easy money but not m
low pay, they treat us like cattle, Manager is unreasonable, and can be petty.
Done going here. This does not take an hour like some people have said in other comments. If you're a new donor plan on being there at least 3 hours and a regular donor what should be an hour is usually 2 hours because they take their sweet ol time calling people in for their checkup and waiting on the donor floor to actually get to you. 30$ is an insult for this process
Had a bad experience and it just wasn't for me. However its worth the money tho!
Good place. Gets busy sometimes depending on time of day but have to remember thats not staffs fault. Staff @ 100% as far as im concerned. Its certain donors that can bring a good place down.
It was nice and quiet , not so loud. It were ran accordingly. The staff were very nice and friendly , I really love the new set up. I would encourage to go.
I was there today 12/5/18 & after waiting 4 hours to still not of had the physical it was ridiculous! I had to end up leaving without even getting to donate because my cousin was told she couldnt donate due to the medicine she was on & she had to work but yet it dont say that anywere on their medication list? They can pay druggies & junkies money for their time but yet ppl who work jobs or have better things to do than wait 4 hours to not even be finished to be able to donate is just b.s. also if you wont a
Excellent staff, always considerate of needs and very attentive to all. Actually have a great time while donating and look forward to each visit !
My experience with BPL Plasma has always been a pleasant and comfortable experience. The technicians are always respectful and polite and always at your service if you happen to need anything, which make the return that much easier... Thank you BPL Plasma....
I love BPL plasma.... but honestly you could have put a note on the door saying that you would be closed for this long. Honestly there are people who depend on the extra money they receive from you, especially with covid and many being out of work. Bad choice honestly but still love you all.
From my stand point this place i a complete total waste of time. If u have some u to do don't come to this place I am a regular donor here and I promise u everytime I walk in here it feels like hell. For 1 the staff is slow and don't care so you will be waiting on them For 2 the whole building is in organized so they obviously don't follow protocol or guideline so it's even better for them to get you out of the door. And for 3 no one cares about the next person all they do is come to work bag about being th
The workers are very nice and welcoming and there very private I was just a bit sad that I couldn't donate plasma because I'm gay even though I am healthy as a horse HIV and STD negative I am still unable to donate plasma for 12 months until but people but are over them but makes all the rules changes that then all people who are homosexuals are allowed to be called back to donate yes my feelings were a bit hurt once I was told that but the lady was very sweet.
I love gettin $30 fo an hr of my time & I'm helping save a life. To me that's a win/Win! In this day with costs on the rise m taxes in Illinois BPL Plasma (Carbondale) is extra income $240 for 8hrs monthly of my time plus it's not taxed. I'm there 2x Wk. The 1st time is the longest usually 2hrs $50 for 1st 5 times. If u go 8x month usually get an extra 85-100. If you got extra time on ya hands better get to it.
This place is a joke. They will always find a way to deny you and tell you to come back tomorrow. Its either your temp is too high, even when its not, or you're bp/pulse is too high. Both of which can be in normal ranges and they will deny you. They are a waste of time and I would recommend not bothering with them. I know I won't be going back EVER!!!
This places has very friendly people, always smiling and making people laugh. It's always clean. Sometimes the bathrooms need some work but beside that everything it good.
A one-star because they don't let people like me that come out there for a month to donate either right now I go to a place called CSL in Chicago Illinoi
Your live tracker needs to be updated to real time and maybe something that displays wait time, after getting vitals checked and you walk to the other side to donate THAT is when you see how busy it really is?.but at that point you have to wait or you can't donate for a month.
We drove all the way from Cape Girardeau, Mo to donate plasma for a little cash. We just moved there and were running low so I called and explained my situation. We live in Cape Girardeau, we've never donated plasma before, what do we need to bring, we just moved here 3 days ago so I haven't gotten the address changed on my license, we will use ALL of our gas to get there so you can assure me that we can donate plasma for some cash? "Yes sir." Is EXACTLY what the black lady on the phone told me. Not once di
They are absolutely unprofessional and I drove there twice after asking staff beforehand, when I got there they told me they were short staffed and had just taken their last one.Wasted my time and gas driving 32 miles one way, I won't repeat the words the staff said but I will repeat it to the better business bureau, lady was prejudiced and actually sneered and the manager was no better.
$60 the first 5 times you go. Then it drops to $30 every visit. I mean money is money no complaint but it's honestly messed up they pay so little to take that amount of plasma. My bf donated and his whole body was covered in what looked like hives or something. I mean these people are letting you take their plasma despite what it does to them after and for you to toss them a little $30. Seriously I'd be upping the payment for the fact of what their bodies have to experience and go through afterwards. But th
Donating here is a great way to make extra cash! The facility is always clean and the staff is super friendly. I've never had a problem.
I have been donating for a few months now, one thing I can say, the last time I donated whole blood to the dictators @ the Red Cross (Houston, TX, Haiti, should I go on?) I got a Red Cross hat, yeah, a hat. Getting paid for a donation that you don't have to sit down for 30;minutes to avoid passing out is nice. The staf @ BPL Carbondale is friendly and they do try to make the donation process easier, just remember: Not every day is a good day.
Great place to come! Help out the world and get a lil cash too! Great ppl work here too! JJ, Nick, Ademi, Burgandi, Kim, Dex, Rob, Sid, and Kealin are all awesome here!
I would say that as long as one is conducting themselves by a general or greater code of conduct then the staff here are very accommodating, patient & Very friendly as well as easy-going.
Great place. I've learned and witnessed all walks of life coming here bc they need the extra money. The struggle is real and it is what it is. Employees are great.
The service here, though it can be slow, is full of friendly and considerate people. They do everything they can to ensure your safety and comfort.
Myself they have always been very kind and there to answer questions if needed...... can be aggravating when turned down but there's a reason ......it's for ur own safety snd others
Mostly nice staff.. easy money but wish we could get more! $25 & $35 is great but I think we could get more since how much our plasma is worth
Would be a lot better if ya didn't wait for 2+ hours to donate only to have new donors jump in front of the line not fair to us who get there early and wait other then that good people and service fix the new donor issue and I will change to 5 stars
My boyfriend and I went in together and he signed in right after me, It took 3 hours for me to donate and by the time I was done he hadn't even had his glucose test done. My dad went for his first time today and it took over 5 hours for him! Ridiculous considering they quote you 2 hours for your first donation.
Everyone here is very friendly and professional it's always a good experience and they have gotten a lot quicker at getting you processed, I imagine if I had a complaint it would be that there are way too many questions at the kiosk
Everyone's ways so nice here; And trust me it's a great thing when you have severe anxiety in public they always make you feel comfortable.
While love all worker they all respect when come in. I have to say Robert make good manager. He is awesome
3 times in a row the wait was ridiculous. This time I have 2 infiltrated arms and had to drive all the way back for them to "confirm" my payment. They are BOGUS
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
