CSL Plasma Salem, OR

Reviews Summary

Reviews are polarized, with many praising the friendly, professional staff and clean facilities, while others criticize long wait times, understaffing, and occasional rude behavior. Efficient locations with skilled phlebotomists receive high marks, but inconsistent service, slow processes, and poor vein handling frustrate donors. First-time donors often report positive experiences, but repeat visitors note declining quality. Wait times are a frequent complaint, with some visits taking hours due to understaffing or broken equipment. Overall, experiences vary widely by location and staff.

?????????? Yesterday, my daughter unexpectedly passed out while we were at the clinic, and I can't express enough how grateful I am for the kindness and professionalism of the staff. They responded immediately, treated her with such care and compassion, and made sure she was safe and comfortable throughout the whole situation. It was a scary moment for us, but their calm, attentive support made all the difference. Thank you to the entire team for going above and beyond?we truly felt cared for.

I see a lot of people love to complain about this location so here's my honest review. While sometimes the place is poorly staffed, they make up for it in how they treat you. Never have I seen anyone get mistreated or discriminated against as some of these reviews suggest. I will say that some of the newer Phlebotomists are not the greatest at sticking in a needle, but that is also not a reason to leave a one star review. As for people claiming there are always transients around, I must be blind because I o

I just moved here in Salem OR from Orlando FL about a month ago. The CSL in Longwood FL are 10x faster than the one here. Not only does the CSL in Salem seem very understaffed, but they don't seem to care how long you've been waiting for. It's a loooooong wait! There's even a row of donating beds with machines that seemingly haven't been touched for weeks because they're "out of order." So it's just one row of beds working and the lines get LONG! Again, the staff doesn't seem to care. They seem to only care

Some of the workers are very professional but the higher ups of the company is bad, I got over a foot long black and blue bruise on my arm cause they blew my vein ( got a hematoma) and I talked to the higher ups(corporate) and they gave me a $15 inconvenience fee. There was a bubble forming on my skin close to the insert point and a phlebotomist came and readjusted my needle and kept me on the machine donating after she knew I and I said I was feeling pain. ( they also know that it was a hematoma and still

The protocols they have set up are not efficient. The staff are great but their hands are tied by inefficient bureaucracy. Hence a 3 to 4hr donation time, for new donors. This is for each of your first 2 donations. Once again the staff are great. But something is wrong when u spend 1hr45min so that they can verify your answers on a medical questionnaire, you've already verified 7 other times!

I have been donating at the salem oregon center for quite some time.. this center has gotten new machines and they had a roll out celebration with balloons and signage and hyped up the new to the extent of claiming " the donor experience re-imagined". The new machines are faster and that fact was supposed to speed things up drastically enough to support all the hype. Well.. the first few weeks approximately half the machines broke down leaving donors waiting up to 4hrs in line. Now because of the machines

It's a clean facility and the staff have been great. The phlebotomists have hit the vein on the first try every time, and bruising has been minimal. The first visit took a while, but every time since then, I've been in and out in about 1.5 hours.

Usually pretty good. It would be nice if someone could update the website to let people no if there open. Someone atleast put something on the door not real helpful.tell your there

I've donated plasma for 10 years. My home CSL is in the Dallas, Texas area. They have a donor volume that is 3-4 times higher than this and get people through quickly in about half the time that this one in Salem, Oregon does. When I travel to Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia for work and donate on occasion there, the story is much the same. However, I have come to the Salem center for years when I'm in town visiting my in-laws, and this center consistently rates near the bottom for speed and efficiency.

My husband went in to donate plasma today. The nurse who assisted him was completely unprofessional. They were very flirty with him. They were cheesing with him. They made remarks like "i don't see a ring on that hand" and "you are very attractive."

It is very slow, they don't have any respect for the customers and they have been rude and they lie about there times on how long the wait is and they don't want to cooperate

I like this place they are clean, the people are kind and inviting, as well as patient and information. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because lately it has been taking so long to get through the lines and get unhooked and released. I can't be sure why, but I suspect it could be do to understand staffing.

Very clean center helpful staff I'm always in and out and back to my day

I really, REALLY appreciate and enjoy the staff who work here. They take such good care of me by listening, executing their protocols cleanly and precisely and catching anything and everything abnormal or out of standard! Because of them I'm able to come back and get through my nerves. Thank you so much Lancaster CSL Plasma! May you all be blessed with Luck, Success and Abundance!

If I could give a Zero, I would I'm sure they do good for some people Unfortunately I've had nothing but problems. Multiple times being turned away. Staffing issues. One said come early morning, next person says come in afternoon. Repeatly I was turned away because I was trying to become a new donor. Ultimately I've waited 9:30am until after 1:20pm. The amount of delays and slow processes. Multiple steps for new donors and Multiple staff working with you with long wait times in between. At 11:30am I told

??I DO NOT RECOMMEND?? Terrible service, dirty in and out. Transients hanging out inside and outside the business. 4 hour long process to get ?all the info they need? and then another hour to take blood. No employees ready at front desk. And the one employee that finally got yelled at to come to help the front desk(me) they had an attitude. Either someone needs to be removed or this business needs to be closed. Highly unprofessional.

I absolutely do not recommend this center. First of all it was absolutely freezing in that building. The lady at the desk was short and rude and acted like I was stupid because I didn't know anything and very difficult to talk with and understand her. Tried to be intimidating but I can't be intimidated!!!! This was only my second time there. So I'm waiting for an exam and they start taking everyone in before me. They don't care if you're waiting. One doctor was just sitting around walking the halls coughing

Jasmine did my donation on 8/21 and it was a great experience. Very friendly yet professional and skilled. I also felt the new machines cut down the donation time.

The experience had been great up until my third donation when the phlebotomist messed my arm up with the needle. I have a bruise for over 2 weeks. Hopefully my next donation will go better.

When you have two patients come in with the same exact circumstances and one gets treated differently, he gets to let things slide, and the other is thrown the book and permanently deferred: that's discrimination. That is what this clinic does. I've heard so many people say that before me and I thought they were sour. Until, I saw it happen with my own eyes. This clinic picks, chooses, and discriminates against people based on their appearance. There is no consistency across the board. I suggest you go to t

Stephanie is a great person to work with every time she checks me in Salem CSL she is very nice high courteous empathetic and understanding that the check-in process could be stressful and she uses the tension and could use a raise because the stretch who puts us with some of the people I couldn't handle it but thank you for she is a great individual and I look forward to working with her every time I show up at this location great staff curious staff they always ask how your day is say thank you for donati

They made me wait 1 hour to say I couldn't donate

I am so mad at these people I cannot explain...they do their best ...let no one say their phlebs and screeners don't try... Oh algorithm, happy happy joy joy number 1 can you get better medical? Guffawed

The employees here hold attitudes as if they want you to know that you are on their time schedule. The work ethic here is absolutely horrible and how they approach potential clients and individuals who are regulars is unacceptable during the first qualifying process for this location. I was actually asked questioned about what bathroom I was going to use men?s/women?s this place is a complete nightmare.

Great opportunity for people to make money as well as save lives. I love recommending this to other people in college who could use the extra money, however, the time to complete your first donation is 3 hours after all of the screenings and educational videos. This can be difficult for people with busy schedules, so just a heads up! After the first donation, it is incredible! The staff was kind and helped make the process go smoothly.

Three times in a row they would miss my vein cause me to bleed everywhere, then ask me to leave without compensating me, which is after I waited hours in line. The last time they heavily bruised my vein to where I had to go to the doctor.

Went in a handful of times, got sick on my last two donations not knowing why, and I was told it was a commonly recognized side effect of apheresis donation: vasovagal syncope adverse reaction. Helpful tips that didn't help: cross legs, drinking water, increasing protein, nor putting legs up. They didn't put blood pressure cuffs on my legs to push blood back to my heart, didn't tell me about barometric pressure (it was raining outside those two times), and endothelial issues that my endocrinologist did not

My first visit was great! It was a painless and simple process, and I appreciate how thorough their health questionnaires are. Donating was quick and easy to do. I donated for maybe an hour, if that, and was there for a total of 2.5 hours including the time it took for the first time donor health assessment. I only wish I could have had a warmed blanket at the end. The saline solution makes you cold, but it goes away pretty quickly once you get moving again!

Tried to get the process started but they won't take ANY mail I have. I had things from the DMV and also paystubs and taxes for my p.o. address. They wouldn't take ANYTHING I had to offer. The man I talked to was trying really hard to help me and was extremely patient and nice but the woman I talked to was awful. She was rude and had the audacity to tell me "well maybe you should get your name on something for once" I am an in-home caregiver and can't have any bills in my name at the residence. Completely r

Edit 12/10/24, last week (12/3/24) one of the staff members didn't do a great job wrapping my arm and then blamed me, I believe her name is Jasmine, and literally made me cry with the way she was blaming me for her job. Fast forward to today her and Anna in front of me and other people had pointed and laughed at me before calling me back and someone in line asked me what it was about. I'm so over this place I used to love it here but the staff have become such a issue. It's not even waiting that makes me up

This place is awful. The employees are always grumpy, Ive been stuck through my vein twice, they pay as little as possible, and it's not clean. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Decided to go in the minute they opened. 2nd new donor in line. Started at 7am, by 9:45 I had only gotten to the process of watching the 5 minute video. Inaccurate directions for their process. Rude and off-putting attitudes from all the staff. Their system crashes (not their fault I know) 1 staff member per station which causes massive wait times. The lady (kathy) who was the only one on new donors randomly and without any warning goes on break making the easiest steps to the whole

Honestly, don't waste your time here go somewhere else. Last week was my first time it was great so I wondered why so many bad reviews. Today, terrible. Waited just shy of two hours to be seen by medical because the dude who took my history last week didn't document any of my meds right. So once I was done I got in line to do the finger poke to make sure your levels are fine and I was told that because it was only my second time I needed to be cleared by medical AGAIN even though I had already waited and do

I appreciated the time estimating being so close to what actually happened, especially for my first time. It does take awhile but it's worth it in my opinion. The staff was super friendly and funny. They made sure I was comfortable the whole time. The actual donation wasn't bad at all, and besides being a little tired afterwards, I was totally fine. Will definitely be back!

Yesterday May 20th was my first donation at CSL. I had a very good experience. Every one was very nice and helpful. Katherine did a wonderful job sticking me. No bruising the next day. I will be going back Tuesday to make my second donation. I recommend this place to everyone!

Why is Saturday the reset day? Everywhere else in the world Sunday or Monday is the start of a new week, so I lose $15 by coming in on saturday....which of course wasn't posted when it changed.

When I got to CSL, I was told it would take 4-5 hours for a new donor start to finish. Reading online made it seem like it would only be about 3 hours. I decided to stick it out and see how things would go. Expecting the worst I was pleased and I was very impressed how clean and organized the location was. Everyone who I interacted with was very friendly and very knowledgeable. All my questions were answered and every one was very polite. Thank you for a good experience.

Very clean and pleasant facility. Staff very friendly and helpful. Explained all steps that we would be doing as we went along. Made sure you were comfortable at all times and answered all questions. Definitely will return.

I really like this place! The staff and environment is super nice and well organized, and the people are really attentive. I had a bit of a hiccup during my first experience though, because my transfer line got pinched in the arm rest at some point making transferring way slower, and i almost passed out near the end because i was hooked up longer than usual. But as soon as so started feeling off the floor staff was super attentive. She got me ice packs on my chest/neck, elevated my legs, and was fanning an

This location is heavily understaffed and it seems to be taking a toll on the employees that work there. Rather than close down Sundays and shifting hours, they need to hire more staff! I even hear from some of the employees that they're already looking for different jobs because of how stressful it can be. It seems apparent that this business only cares about saving money and not giving their workers what they need. Manager needs to work on this as it's taking way too long to get through the process for us

Nice staff. Obviously doesn't pay their staff enough because no one wants to work here which is not good for employee moral which in turn effects the people getting blood drawn. Nice facility. The staff that did my draw were very attentive and quick to helping when any problem arose. 4 stars not for the staff but for the company itself. Also pays less than grifols.

Friendly staff good natured and joyful, always happy to see each person. Painless process, though may be a bit long when starting out, but worth the time and energy. Plus being paid to help someone out is a huge bonus.

Overall very positive experience! First time took close to five hours from start to finish but I was prepared for that. Very understandable due to coming in midday and trainings going on. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. This is great because I plan on becoming a regular donor.

I truly like the front staff the medical stuff and even the donor staff Anna and Shelby at the Salem Lancaster location Stephanie is the first person I encountered and she was nice very helpful with my experience and now I'm a regular thank you Stephanie for your team's leadership and friendships as well I assume all donating sites most probably get as warm as this site there's a lot of nice people there and eventually I will learn all there names and give a new review soon People are nice and very under

The staff here is great. They explained the process and were all very quick to help and make sure I was alright after having a reaction with my first donation. I thank them and definitely plan on trying again.

They are so slow they need more workers with all the people coming through there on a daily basis. It shouldn't take one person two to three hours to donate plasma. Takes up half my day. The workers are awesome.

It was a bit of a wait but that was expected, they are understaffed and that's also expected in the medical field, but they have a great system and manage things well. The staff are very kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. I was very pleased with the service for the first visit.

The staff here was really amazing, they were attentive, kind, and extremely professional. They were constantly checking on me and making sure I was comfortable and that I understood what was happening. I even had a few issues and they came to help almost instantly.

staff is poorly trained and even more poorly supervised, I would suggest any other company than CSL if you want to avoid injury to yourself. the picture below is what happens when they try to force blood back into you when they have missed the vein.

Worst location. The employees are rude, they ignore you and they have nothing but attitude. They also, skipped me when I was next and attended three other people when i had arrived before them. They are not apologizing at all and they don't value your time. I felt extremely ignored and disappointed with my visit

As a first time donor, this CSL location was great! The staff were really kind and extremely professional! They explained every step of the process from the vitals, physical and actual donation process. They offered snacks and drinks too! They made sure to keep everything clean and tidy. Will definitely recommend this location to anyone looking into donating plasma in the future!

The reception and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The new donor process is easily to pick up and go through, and they're very patient when it comes to any questions. Returning donations do not take long, and after your first time it's a very quick donation and sign-in process.

Overall it was a great experience. Everyone was super friendly and were clear about what to expect. When I started to feel unwell, a staff member was by my side doing everything they could to mitigate. It was a lengthy process, about 4 hours overall.

Staff is friendly, everything is good besides the wait time. Has gotten slower over time. Besides that it's a good place

Each time I've come, I've left insanely disappointed. I attempted to sign up 3 times before finally being able to, and when I finally was able to I got there at 8Am and spent around 4 or 5 hours just sitting around and waiting for them to call me to different rooms doing tests which was fine but then in the middle of those tests EACH time they left me in the room to wait about 15 mins more just to do a dumb questionnaire I could?ve done while waiting for them. To then get sent back to the waiting room and h

I like coming to this CSL Location because every is nice and friendly and I do wanna give a shout out to Vinita and Stefanie they always take good of me when I come in to donate Plasma. I will say they both get a 10 out 10 for the work they be doing thanks for everything you both deserve a a raise if possible.

Great customer service and very clean. Only thing is they just don't have enough staff to do the vitals or enough staff in the donation area to keep the flow of patients coming in to donate. Wait times do vary prior to donation due to staff shortage, but they are always checking in on us to see if we need anything. Do need to have more experienced Phlebotomist on the floor in case a donor needs that person to start the draw. It would be nice if they gave more money like they do when you first start to do

Blew my vain for the second time.they didn't have the patience to do a sufficient job . after I lost a good amount of blood and red blood cells they told me they needed to monitor me to make sure I don't pass out,yet they walked off and were just gossiping about other workers. Not very professional at all

This place seems severely understaffed. Just waiting to get your vitals checked before you donate can take an hour. Then you get to stand in the queue for another 45 min to an hour before they finally get you in a bed. Everyone seems to move in slow motion. There are 5 stations to check vitals and there's never more than 2 stations being used while 15 - 20 donors are standing in line waiting. Just make sure if you go in to donate you have about 3 hours to spend there. And make sure you can stand for up to 2

Its a very nice place very clean. But wait times are ridiculous. No one has any since of hustling they only use half the seats. And they stand around and take their time doing everything. Now they cut hours because lack of people coming in but people are tired of standing around for an hour or more.

The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. For those donating they do also have snacks and water and they make sure you are taken care of before you leave. Its my first donation place and have left a positive impression, though fair warning, there is a very high chance that you will get someone in training and they will bruise your arms, causing you to be deferred and unable to donate for a couple of weeks.

Just started going to this center. Night and day difference compared to grifols. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. The pay is good the system they have is so much more efficient than what I'm used to. And they're hours make it convenient for my schedule also .

Customer service is horrible. Building was empty and it took about 1 to 2 hours for them to see me and prick my finger. When I should?ve took only 20 minutes realistically?.

I used to have nothing but the greatest things to say, and the staff is still amazing! Recently there was a shift in management and all of us donors are sure feeling the pain of a different management style. Wait has been hitting 2+ hours just to get into a donation bed! Given that the process is 1+ hour, the commitment is getting to be greater and greater. I do understand staffing levels can be a challenge but it is clear that more people are needed. Not sure how many months it will take them to realize ho

I have changed my review from 4 to 2 stars. There are always transients hanging around, the facility upon first glance looks clean but when you look closer it's dusty and dirty- no pride or care looks to be given to their presentation. Lines are incredibly long- they have 5 spots for pre-screening and I've never seen them open and use more than 2 at one time. There are 4 rows of machines they use to collect plasma after pre-screening and I've never seen them use more than 2 rows at once. Why? I waited over

This facility is super clean and the staff is wonderful! From the first person I interacted with to the medical staff, they really explained everything and even said thank you to me multiple times. Good vibes here!

I've been going to the west Salem CSL on and off for the past 3 years and with each passing year, I feel as though the employees have stopped caring. What used to be a 3-4 hour set up process and a 1-2 hour return process is now solidly locked in at 4-6 hours across the board. Not to mention one of the current nurses working here is very intolerant of any questions about donating and will become highly offended and speak rudely if asked anything as though she just had her profession questioned. My partner j

The best experience for the first time ever donating, they made sure I was okay and comfortable the whole time. I had major heat flash and as soon as I mentioned I got ice packs and one of the workers literally grabbed a piece of laminated paper and started fanning me with it. Honestly the best experience ever and it is for a great cause.

I see the compensation rate has improved GREATLY today- compared to 10 yrs ago! I had the best staff around, very friendly and happy! I worked with Nicole, Tammi, Kathryn and Chris. This was my 1st time at CSL Plasma centers and the process is very easy and you get to go tobthe head of the donation line on your 1st visit!! Awesome process. Awesome center and staff! Plus they have an app!!! Yes!!

Friendly staff but need more of them. My first donation I got there at 11:45am and didn't get out till 5:00pm my second time though was much faster only took 2 hours. They could use some sort of entertainment in the waiting area or make the wifi password accessible. There are signs posted saying they have wifi but when you ask for the name and password the employee's can't tell you because they don't know either

I've been donating at this location for years now so I've seen managers come and go but this new manager Cole is by far the worst of them all. He does not help his employees out at all when it comes to phlebotomy or reception work which in turn makes it slower for everyone. No help from managers shows lack of leadership! A few of us donors overhear complaints from the employees regarding his absence or unwillingness to help. This needs to change ASAP because it's taking way too long to donate!

The staff were very nice. The reason I am giving this place one star is that after keeping me here more than 3 hours and passing all of the examinations, I was ultimately denied because of an anxiety disorder. Even though the medication I take for it was not on their list of unacceptable medications. If panic attacks due to financial circumstances are going to be a disqualifier, this should be made known at the beginning of the walk in process and not after 3 hours of other screenings, questionnaires, and v

I've donated once and have gotten deferred twice, and it's been an overall positive experience! The first donation takes forever, so make sure to plan for it to take 5-6 hours. But the other two times, I've had to wait 30 minutes to an hour to find out I can't donate. That's been super frustrating, but they've been courteous throughout it all. Overall, it's been a good experience

I just started up as a returning new donor. The beginning process always takes forever but I just went in for my second donation and it was super quick. I was done in a hour with the entire process. Staff have been pleasant and the process has been as easy as possible.

Super respectful and kind. Very clean, sterile environment and the staff are super sweet and helpful in making sure you're as comfortable as possible! There's a shortage in phlebotomists so it's a little slow but otherwise great.

This was my 1st time coming in and everyone was very nice. I was a little nervous at first but every staff member I talked to was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Very clean office as well! Would recommend 10/10

The facility was very clean and sanitary. All of the staff that I interacted with were very kind and professional. Overall I had a positive experience and intend to go back in a few days.

I have been donating at CSL plasma for over 2 years now. I am totally baffled at these reviews! It's like completely bad or totally wonderful. I don't get it! I have never been treated with anything but the utmost kindness and professionalism! They constantly change gloves, wipe down beds and equipment and sanitize in between clients at triage desk. A few times I have had to wait but that is because they had a sudden influx of clients coming in. I give high praise to Shelby, Nate, Josh, Anna Christina, Nico

Super great experience from start to finish ! The staff was great, very helpful and informative definitely will recommend and be coming back again. Process was so easy and staff made it go by super fast as a new donor.

The initial process to become signed up is pretty extensive (budget 3-4 hours worth of time), but the team is super friendly and thorough. The facility is very clean and everyone that works there is very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place if you are interested in donating plasma!

Great way to ruin your day. Phlebotomist miss vains, they let others cut in line, they do a generally piss poor job of compensation, etc. Come here if you need money quick and no other reasons. It took me 6 hours for start to finish.

First time donating. Staff were super friendly and walked me through the entire process. They even called me the next day to make sure I was still doing good. Will defiantly return to donate again.

Worst location in oregon. I have had nothing but problems, had csl workers lecture to a patient like they were a child for asking a simple question. Also dont let them know you have health issues because it will ruin your chance to donate. This location has been rude. Lost paperwork and frankly not well run even without my experiences. I would go somewhere else or maybe talecris

Very professional to the point of being a little robotic. It took a long time to go through the first sign up process, about 5 hrs from first walking in to the end of the donation. But it is clean and the process went smoothly.

From the beginning to the end of my visit everyone and everything was great! From the reception staff, medical staff, and everyone on the donor floor they were all very friendly, professional, caring and patient. I will definitely continue to come here.

Skipped Talecris to come here, and I found it a much better environment. The folks that worked here were a team and communicated clearly with one another. And they seemed like they enjoyed doing what they do for work. They were professional, friendly, and put me at ease - despite the fact that I can't stand blood and such. Anna was the one to stick me - and it was quick and almost entirely painless. And she was very professional and made me feel relaxed in an environment I usually get really nervous in. So

Staff is wonderful and very helpful! They made my experience first time donating confortable with easy to follow steps. I will definitely be coming back many times!!

First time there was great! Yes the initial process was long but they were professional and kind. The donation staff were attentive and caring. Answered any questions I had with care. Will be back for sure.

Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
