Reviews Summary

The reviews show a polarized experience with many praising the professional, kind, and efficient staff, particularly noting gentle phlebotomists and quick, clean processes. However, significant criticism targets poor organization, long wait times, unprofessional behavior, and inadequate compensation. Some donors report vein damage, unsanitary practices, and frustration with rule changes or lack of transparency. While loyal donors appreciate the service, others feel mistreated or undervalued, especially regarding payment discrepancies between new and returning donors.

That place is bad . They do look for more reasons to not let you donate and some of the staff just don't care . That's why they would rather turn you away . Shortly after donating I developed cancer . I don't believe it's a coincidence. Now it's in my liver floating around my stomach and all over my intestines. Going through chemo doesn't give me much hope for continuing to be alive . Yes I'm going to investigate this matter and if I die my wife will continue. Please find a more professional place to donate

Freedom Plasma is under new ownership, Grifols now owns Freedom Plasma in Woodriver. Grifols the new owners dropped their rates. They now pay $50 for the first donation and $70 for the second. With a $5000 profit per bottle, not gross, but NET PROFIT, they continue the stanglehold of the desperate. Anything to profit from the poor. Oh, and that $10 appreciation pay to Military, Veterans, and First Responders, Grifols doesn't appreciate you. Attended again on September 23, 2024. Very little has changed,

Only gave 1 star because I can't give a no star. They blow people's veins and then say that they can't donate because of the bruising they caused. Never going back to this company. Go to CSL plasma in Fairview heights or on halls ferry Rd in Mo.

I really enjoy waking up at 6 am to be there by 7 for my appointment just to be told oops we are sorry our nurse isnt showing up...screwed me out of my 2nd donation pay (70 bucks) with no offer of compensation or anything...i really dislike this place after the machines screwed up twice on me in a year and i was deferred 56 days both times by no fault of my own and then today....i never had problem like i have here at other places but because this one is close i deal with it....gather it up yalls grifols su

Understaffed and poorly managed. I've been deferred twice now because of their machines failing. The most recent being tonight! They didn't even bother to give me a Gatorade before I left (I didn't get back any of my blood) no apology was given by the manager. She displayed complete disregard. The employee (who is at fault for the whole mess) kinda apologized under her breath. Which was atleast more than what the manager gave me so thanks I guess? I won't be back and strongly urge everyone else to steer cle

Mixed feelings on this place. Their communication and messaging is awful. Their phoneline says inital walk ins welcome, however once getting there they require an appointment. After getting an appointment the staff was nice but very understaffed. Tried to make a follow up appointment to donate again, but they defferred me without explanation, tried calling several times for an explanation like the app says but no one EVER answers the phone, I even tried calling different days and times and no one answers. A

They work harder at finding reasons to not let someone donate that day, than actually working. These employees are miserable and it really shows. They are coming in and just there to get a check. The company that bought them has ruined this place. The wait 30 plus minutes past my appointment, only to find out that I need to wait some more in a different way waiting area

You have some really nice people that work to make your experience a good one. You have one awesome person names Lance that is loved by many. Co workers and customers. But you are moving him out of that location for someone that isn't very nice. And doesn't seem to care about the people walking in thru your door. Even your employees when they think no one can hear them. The last thing you want to face when you donate plasma is deal with someone who acts like you are a problem. I think you are making

The way they treat people is horrible. They infiltrated my vein?and then completely freaked out when it happened because they left me sitting there unattended for so long that it was obviously their mistake. After I assured THEM that I was okay they said that no holds or deferments would be put onto my account because it was very clearly THEIR mistake. When I went back about 3 days later I had a bruise on that arm so they refused to allow me to donate at all. Even though the other arm was completely fine. T

I Was Very well taking care of I was made comfortable about any insecurities that I had I was checked on through the procedures constantly she is extremely professional. I barely feel anything when as the procedure takes place. Emily's professionalism has convinced me to recommend this plasma center to friends and associates that may be interested in doing something for the greater good. Emily seems to enjoy her job and is very good at what she does in this facility. Keep her. I want to add Josie to my co

They have the common sense to allow people to sit down before taking screening vitals, and with cardiovascular aspects of the it included, sitting down helps people relax a little bit and have the BP and pulse numbers be better. if they get elevated, then you get deferred. And the other aspect of Freedom that resonates with me the most is that they also have a portion of their staff that has extensive knowledge in the medical field and Jenny has been so vital to the process of new donor returning and there

Always have a positive experience when I come into freedom plasma, employees are all very dedicated and good at what they do. Shout out to Haylee she is always very professional and helpful with any questions I may have!

I was in to donate on April 30/24. Although I was not new to the procedure. The machine showed a no flow. One employee adjusted the needle and for a bit it was fine. Again it showed a no flow. The employee who originally stuck me tried once again to adjust the needle. I began to bleed more than normal from the original stick. The employee then ask for help from other staff. It was a first for me to bleed in that way. The staff I felt did as well as expected in controlling the bleed and cleaning the area. I'

Today was my first donation. From the moment I walked into the door and had my physical with a gentleman named Mike, through the whole process of the donation everybody was so kind and helpful. My phlebotomist's name was Nina, she was training a lady named Tammy. My experience was amazing. Nina answered every question I asked. She walked Tammy through the training process step-by-step and was so gentle and kind about it.. She had a smiling warm sense about her through the whole process. I definitely had no

For sure my favorite place to donate. If you're a first time new donor make sure you have at least 4 hours to spare. You have to do paperwork and fingerprinting and then a physical and then you can donate. After the first time though it's usually pretty fast an hour maybe an hour and a half depends on how fast you yourself donate some people are slow at donating. The first month is 100$ every visit. You can only donate 2 times in a week. Has be at least every other day. You need 24 hrs so your body can repl

They give you very little money considering they get thousands for the donation. Also I just watched one of the workers use an unsanitized container in the machine, when it's suppose to come bagged and sterilized. Hope someone don't get sick. Update: here we are a month later, and no one has contacted me imagine that. And now they wanna run this whole building a types of messed up. They don't call you in order or nothing. They really suck. Recommend going to St. Louis. And it's not the new system either

Freedom is great, everyone is friendly. My phlebotomist Haylee is amazing. She made my first experience very comfortable. Very well-spoken, explained everything very clearly and kept a very professional and positive attitude. Definitely coming back.

For the most part, the staff is great (though sometimes some of the women spend a little too much time talking, joking, and playing?waiting to get unhooked can be unnecessarily long?stop acting like you don't see my green light). The appointment system has really made the process easier. My only real concern is with the compensation. The initial payment is ridiculously low, basically forcing you to come back a second time each week. Freedom gouges us on that first visit (their profit margin off of first app

I am a current donor of Freedom plasma in Illinois. I have never had a bad experience at this place. Last Saturday I had a guy to steal my phone out of a kiosk booth. Once I realized it was gone I wanted cameras ran back. The center manager Mrs. Denise & Ms. Amika whom worked the front desk got rite on it. Mrs. Denise found the guy & made him give up the phone after calling the cops & him still lying to her. She is really awesome for that. She stood firm & now he is no longer welcomed there any longer. I re

Have been coming here for nearly 9 months. They always take great care of me. Brandy on the evening shift is the most efficient! Great working with her every time. Also Shay and Dakota are great each time too!

I've donated a few times. Very clean, easy, and the staff are amazing. I definitely will continue to donate more. Kaya is an Amazing person and so very kind. I love coming here each week. They make you feel at home. ??

Rating would be a 4 or 5 if the staff scheduling in the morning wasn't so ridiculous. It's frustrating that they take a full number of appointments in the morning hours, then only schedule a fraction of the staff needed. No problem in the afternoon, but mornings are a disaster. I can't help but wonder if the person doing the scheduling is new and maybe doesn't understand how scheduling works. The floor and desk staff are great?they are the strengths. Not so much so with some of the managers and junior manag

When I got there the lady or male at the front desk checked my documents. I sat for an hour waiting just for them to say my mail isn't acceptable cause it's not post marked. He said they're supposed to stamp the mail. I told him to open it and see the date. They refused me but if their staff was trained properly they would have told me about my mail without wasting a hour of my time. Chaotic environment. Clearly no one knows what they are doing

07-03-2024 New Edit. 185569752762 Is the corporate number. Let them know how much you appreciate them not putting donors first, nor taking care of the employees. New corporation took over the first. It's my first time here and with the new system and us having to go through the new donor process we don't get new donor play. They pay out $50 first donation $70 the second down from what the previous corporate operation was paying despite a bottle of plasma they get from us being sold for $5,000. The wait is a

My techs Cassandra and Kaya are amazing. It seemed like a rough day for everyone but they held it together and got things under control quickly. They have a great bedside manner as well.

Very unorganized and workers act like they are above the donors. This was a an absolute horrible experience. I asked what exactly is ?Plasma? and the two workers around me could NOT even tell me. Also, no where is it posted that you can't go to your car and return during this long circle jerk of a process. It one big confusion for all involved right when you walk into the door. There should be a manager on the floor at all times directing this incompetent group that this company calls ?staff?!

I will not be making the mistake of coming back to this center. Originally I had a great experience, ~2 months of problem free donations. Until I was deferred for 2 months for infiltrated veins, I come back today as soon as that deferment is up and what happens? Deferred again for the same reason. Their staff either needs better training or to pay attention when shoving needles into people. I will be looking for another center.

I come here often, the ladies are great!! Some to mention who are very helpful, kind, effecient, and friendly. Shay, Erica, Melissa, and Brandy! These ladies work tirelessly to ensure a smooth process. The appointments are very convenient also!!

I am beyond aggravated I came in here for my 830 appointment and it was going ok until I asked Tay not to sit me in Ashley?s section I already have one messed up arm bc of Ashley from earlier this week and I've never had a messed up vein before so I didn't want to risk it well Tay proceeded to tell me I had to sit in that section then Ashley sticks me and spends another 5 min digging which is what she did with my other arm another lady comes over and decides that it won't work so now I'm getting disconnecte

I an new to this experience but the staff here makes you feel very comfortable and welcome. The facility is a safe and clean environment. The process takes a little time on your first day but moves better after that. The the ladies that work with you are very sweet, personable and conscientious. It's very rewarding knowing that I am helping someone else with my donation.

Haven't donated plasma in a very long time. Came back here to start up again and it almost felt like seeing people I already knew. Every worker is so friendly and courteous to everyone, never making me feel like an inconvenience for them. I hope they read this and know that you're all wonderful.

For the most part I havent had many issues donating, Ive been about 10 times so far. But there were a few times that have almost completely turned me off of donating here. For one, the very first time i came in they gave me the run around (i went back and forth 3 different times trying to submit the proper paperwork). They wasted my time instead of just telling people exactly what they needed to get me set up. Then when i finally got set up, i went in the back to donate and the phlebotomist decided not to

Made a 5:15 appointment and by 6:30 I was skipped over twice on the waiting list before I left. My time is just as important as everyone else's. Dont make me wait nearly 1.5 hours just to skip over me twice in the waiting line.

I usually don't have problems, but lately, some of the front desk staff has been very rude, or has at least come Across that way. Also, this is unfortunately my only source of income at the moment, and they keep LOWERING the amount you can get. even as new donors you only get $75 now. Me, as a returning donor, only gets $50 and then $80. That's almost not even worth my time if it wasn't for the plasma helping someone else in need. Also right now I cannot even make an appointment for some reason. It says ?no

I have been donating twice a week for 4 months. JoJo & Sam are the best phlebotomists in this location. They are professional, courteous, and great at sticking & adjusting when needed!

I've been here 3 times and it's been great. Except for this last time. I got in and out pretty quickly, however I had Holly as my Phlebtomist. She was very rough and really hurt my arm. I even yelled out in pain and she ignored me. When she went to removed the needle she snatched it out which also hurt. I have not had a bad experience until I came across her. She was completely unprofessional and didn't care how I felt. If I come back and she has to stick me I will NOT be donating. If anyone is reading this

Extremely incompetent, no one here knows what's going on. I've been here 3 ? 2 attempt to donate every time. There's a complication no one here has been long-term employees. Every person that I've talked to the nurses. And everybody else are all new and have came from somewhere else. And they do not know their job. I would never trust this place with trying to donate plasma. The exact words are, this is a big business. We sell this plasma to all the other countries.

You are required to set an appointment which is good but the last 3 times I have gone I have waited well over an hour to even get started. They need to figure out the scheduling. This place is not worth the money.

They wouldn't take me because my iD didn't have the SR on it like my social. The girl who was super rude said I just needed to bring a w2 back. Drove a total of four hours there and back for her to say it wasn't good enough because she could only see the last 4 of my social. Then she said I could use a different iD but it had to have the same address. Which on the website it says as long as you have two pieces of mail with current address from the last 90 days it will work. The girl again said no. So thanks

Last week, during a donation, the donor next to me was having a psychotic episode and began threatening me. Two phlebotomists, Lexi and Cassandra, immediately placed themselves between us. They selflessly protected me and the other donors nearby. They maintained the highest level of professionalism while resolving the conflict. Their smiles and concerns for the safety of their donors must be commended. Thank you, ladies.

I love wood.river freedom plasma the staff is great I love.the way kate takes good care of my veins when she sticks me also the manager ms Marissa is very professional and respectful one of the greatest managers and she caught a very important paying situation that nobody else caught and paid me what was owed I really appreciate her time and understanding thankyou

Thomas is the best phlebotomist I've ever had. He gets me first time every time and I felt no pain. He is always very nice and upbeat and polite. I ask for him every time.

I've been coming here for over a year. I really like most of the staff. PRECIOUS is phenomenal. She professional and yet fun. She is definitely a positive asset to the Wood River facility.

I had my initial donation the night before Christmas Eve. The bad weather caused several of the employees to call off. The staff that was left behind deserves some type of reward. The environment was very high stress, but I do not blame the employees at all. It seems there needs to be several issues fixed at this facility and more jobs put into place that can ease the tension of the staff. Front desk staff, cleaning crews, etc. Take care of your employees. There were quite a few steps in the physical proces

I came to donate and my DL only has 1 middle initial while my SS has both middles names and they said they could get me in because "your ID needs both middle names" yea no it doesn't they could only fully put 1 name on. Cmon bruh loosing customers

Let's unruly man. Yell an shout the entire donation process and they do nothing about it after its aggravating other patrons This took place for over half hr. 9am to 930am. They also Force people listen to trashy music entire time

If you are older than 30 and they are getting full....your gone....they will make up every reason in the world to throw you out ....i went 4 times only donated once,. my son got in all 4 times they told my wife they needed i.d and ss card no exceptions even though we had a state insurance card with the ssn on it but what really hit home was hearing the same short red haired lady telling a younger custome " just bring in something with your ssn on it so we know its you. I calmly told the lady i heard it and

Haylee did an amazing job. She was so nice about everything Did amazing job poking me with the needle. I definitely recommend her again

This place is a joke they changed companies and they could have notified there loyal return doners that they have to go through the rescreening process which takes 2 hours before we just showed up for our appointment thinking we're going to donate very unprofessional company when I was trying to check in it wasn't accepting my social security number or anybody that was up there I do know three people walked out and making a trip to BioLife this place just lost business I wouldn't waste my time going there a

Bad. New Grifols owners are sketchy and lowered pay a lot. Also won't let you donate unless you live very close. (Apparently 30 miles away is too far.)

Every African American does not have Syphilis!! I don't know what they are doing but I've given plasma over 100 times and Freedom is the only place that has ever turned myself and 3 other African Americans away saying they have Syphilis. Beware they DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!

Worst use of a computer system they make you make appointment just to take tons of people at your appointment time. They are completely ridiculous and expect you not to get angry. I would go to one of the better staffed facilities

Don't try to waste your time. They only book appointments on line but their booking site hasn't worked all week - everyone is just sitting around doing nothing. Try walking in for an appointment and they will turn you away - there is a bonus of $20 if you donate 2 times during the first week of July - that's not going to happen - They are making the switch to Griffols - this has been a terrible transition - maybe try Biolife or CMS plasma if you need the money. They don't even answer their phone - so thank

Love this place!!!!! The 1 or 2 times I had to wait over 10min was due to a staff issue. And the other a technical issue. They are very kind and considerate, explain everything to you.

I didn't even go in all I did was call and they were rude as hell and was told they ain't taking new people and I just wanted to ask questions if I was to go but I will not be going to this place at all they are rude

Great place! Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Dara at Freedom Plasma in Wood River IL, is amazing. She puts you at ease, great bedside manner. And gentle. I did not even feel her put the needle in. Thank you Dara for the care you gave me.

They are not clear at all on what you need to bring with you. Told me I need my ID and Social ok then told me I needed a piece of mail with my address don't matter what the mail was then for the 3rd trip there they said the mail I showed them wouldn't work. So 4/30min trips and a tank of gas later still never got to donate. Looks like they find any reason not let you donate.

I have a great experience, the staff is professional. Although I do wish that you guys would bring back the extra 20 dollars on your 5th donation of the month again. That made it worth coming to work towards that twenty. Thank you other than that one always have a pleasant donation when I'm there.

I unfortunately wasn't able to donate because my vein rolled but the entire staff was kind and tried to go as quickly as possible while not neglecting anyone/ forgetting anything. Jess was the one who poked me and I barely felt it. I'm hoping the next time I go I can actually donate.

Laura is the best! She's kind, funny, professional. She always does a great job of sticking my arm so I don't really feel it.

I started donating when the reward was 100+ for the first 8 donations. On my second donation the compensation changed to 100 for the first 4, I was not told this prior to donating and starting crying with the needle still in my arm. I sincerely needed that money and I am so disappointed in freedom plasma. After the first 4 it's apparently only $40. This is hardly worth an hour waiting, half and hour of bleeding, then feeling terrible for that day and the next. $40 is nothing, absolutely nothing in today?s e

They don't explain the rules very well didn't know you had to live within 50 miles to donate. Never heard of a plasma center worried about what county you live sounds a little discimatory to me seeing how 50 miles surrounding wood river is60% white Americans

Great staff and have a doctor on hand. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable in the information they are giving. Darra is the best at needle insertion. Patient and smooth on needle insertion the coworkers need to learn more from her.

The clinic is amazing, the people are amazing, when Cassandra puts the needle in majority of the time I don't even feel it much.

Whoa, that's creepy. You told Andy Kastings you don't have their information on file. So basically you looked them up when they left a comment in here. That information you have access to is only to be accessed when related to medical business, not checking their social media account. You just broke the law. I wouldn't check my info, you may get sued.

Katie is super fast and very nice! Every time she has got me set up the needle stick doesnt ever hurt.

This place is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! The staff is completely incompetent! They are rude and disrespectful! This is the LOWEST paying plasma center I've ever seen. Coming from a nursing POV this place is dirty nasty and flat out disgusting! I wouldn't dare! Side note: they still use oral thermometers when the CDC has clearly said not to! So if you're looking to donate plasma I would definitely suggest going ANYWHERE else? I reported this to the ? supervisor ? Melissa and all she did was make everything wors

ADDITIONALLY--BECAUSE OF THE BIG PURPLE BRUISE THEY CAUSED ON MY ARM, THAT WILL TAKE AT LEAST ANOTHER WE3K TO HEAL, THEY WILL NOT LET ME DONATE EVEM THOUGH MY OTHER ARM IS PERFECTLY FINE. AND BECAUSE THEY WONT LET ME DONATE, I CANNOT GET THE REFERRAL BONUS THEY SAY YOU GET AFTER THE PERSON REFERRED COMPLETES 2 DONATIONS. MY REFERRAL COMPLETED HIS THIRD DONATION YESTERDAY. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY SUCCESSFULLY DONATED OVER 10 TIMES. AGAIN WITH THE LACK OF COMPLETE COMMUNICATION ABOUT THEIR OFFERRD SERVICES AND PAY

This place is a joke I don't recommend anyone coming here. One thing they can't even keep people their to work. They tell me my irons to low but my doctor tells me there is nothing wrong with my iron count. So unless you are a perfectly healthy person don't even bother going there. They're not as big in savings life's as they say they are. This is the only plasma center I've ever had a problem with. What a disappointment ??

They are the best in the area. Always nice and professional. A+ on employees. However, it would be nice if loyal donors got as much $$$ for returning, as the new donors. I don't feel that's fair. It is what it is...

Haylee stuck me and I didn't feel a thing the first time since I was born that it felt like she didn't even stick me so shout to lil Haylee?? she deserves 5 stars in my book plus she cut ????

The new changes in their facilities at the moment is a bit of a headache. But I've been going here for 2 years now and it's still hands down the best place to donate in this area.

Maddie was one of the most professional techs at the center I have met very out going and knowledgeable about her job I believe she has the skills to be a great leader in her profession of choice

The environment is very friendly, employees consistently professional with work policies and protocols, and I've never had a poor experience here at this Freedom Plasma location. Highly recommend to anyone needing some money on the side.

First time donor. The staff is unprofessional. They are rude. You have 6 people working the front desk doing nothing but talking loudly to each other in a room full of people trying to hear their name. The blood drawers are standing around talking. I got their at 10:22 and didn't get done until after 4 because of nobody doing anything.

Inexperienced phlebotomy on staff. Octopharma never has a problem with sticking my veins and all 3 visits here resulted in vein infiltration (permanent damage/scar tissue), 2 sticks with bruising and worst part is the 3 and half hours for 2 of the visits wasted because if they don't get blood u do not get paid! I also referred 2 people and they infiltrated one person's vein on the second visit!

Thomas is excellent. He has a gentle touch and I have had bruises before because of my ?shallow? vein. Always gets it with little effort.

Roughly $2500 per plasma donation is what they sell your plasma for. If you're reading this, fo your research! You'll now make around 66% (slightly more than that actually) less. I've come religiously working toward my 8th time which WAS worth $150. I walked in today for my 8th donation and was told I would only receive $40 because they changed the value due to their high volume of donors. They would not honor what they offered when I started. Umm...what? You're making even MORE so you lower the financial p

I will certainly be returning to Freedman Plasma. I have donated twice so far. Each time I have went in there. So far they have been courteous and extremely helpful. As I have never donated plasma before. So their staff explained everything to me in the beginning from start to finish. They care about making you as comfortable as possible. I will certainly be returning. As I feel I am making a difference in helping others. Thanks to Freedom Plasma.

Long waits usually and was banned for getting on medicine for high pulse rate. Went to doc per their suggestion and got on the medicine. Just in case anyone else with high anxiety goes. Be cautious.

These lady?s really deserve a raise. They are so gentle and nice. I'll always refer people here.

Place is a joke, they had issues with my account for over 2 years still haven't fixed say they will call back never do. I just called talk to em today.

Management needs more training on customer relations and organization. Universal precautions were not enforced and no consistency in donation rewards.

Now I'm being told that I was turned away 3 times last week. Not true at all. 2 times. Yet Melissa insisted by her computer that I was. How frustrating and how humiliating. My last name is Kelson

The staff here is wonderful! Everyone is kind, competent, friendly and respectful. The facility is hospital clean, and the pay is very good. I highly recommend.

Great staff, good way to make money while doing a good thing. The poke isn't bad if you get Alexis.

I'm new to the plasma thing so I can't compare it to other experiences. Think I'm on my 5th or 6th donation and the staff has been great. Very professional and helpful with questions you may need to ask. They check on you constantly to make sure you are ok and you are in and out in about 1 hour. The place is very clean. The bathrooms are pretty much spotless. Anyway I just thought I would give my review.

I wasn't allowed to donate because I didn't want to take off my head wrap for a picture. Not quite sure what my head wrap has to do with donating but I guess it has something to do it. Never heard of that rule before. Could it be because of my race? Not sure. But I think so.

Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.

What should I eat before donating plasma?

Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
