Grifols Biomat USA Brookings, SD

I began donating earlier this year and Griffols was great! The maximum wait was normally an hour and a half. I understand that they have lost some people and are understaffed, but now the minimum wait time feels like two hours. It feels like some of the women work with zero urgency and are just there to get their paycheck. The staff are professional and super nice. The know you by name and go above and beyond. Cindy does amazingly well with poking and is highly professional. Lara, Emily, and Kira are absolutely awesome they are always super excited to see me and the all do awesome at their jobs. I honestly wouldn't want to go anywhere else - Everyone is super accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. A+++!

Since starting donating a couple months ago, I have always had a good experience with the staff and the overall experience. The staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable. I especially want to shout-out Kierra and Lora! You two are awesome! ??????

I love this place! The DCTs and phlebs are always so kind and outgoing. Management is awesome and they're always helping out.

If you're a Transgender female they kept using He/him pronouns I normally don't care about pronouns but it was constant by different staff so it made me feel i didn't have any dignity so i kinda felt a little attacked and very uncomfortable there

I have been donating at the Brookings SD location since they opened 7 years ago. Since the change in management, the place has tanked. There are no phlebotomists, no one to register, and the nurses have all quit. This is absolutely the worst I've ever seen it and I know without a doubt that it is management causing everyone to quit. Alicia made my 1st donation a breeze! She is so so kind and gentle! Kyla is such a sweetheart! She made me feel incredibly comfortable as I was nervous! Kham is amazing! She helped me get my blood flowing almost instantly after some issues! She made sure I wouldn't get poked twice! She is very gentle and made sure I was comfortable the entire time! These 3 wonderful ladies are amazing and deserve to be rewarded for their hard work and dedication!

Nobody was communicating with each other. Just clear your day because they don't value your time.

This is an excellent place to donate plasma!! All the staff are super kind and knowledgeable. I especially like their attention to detail, knowing everything is being handled correctly. Also, making good money in just one hour?? Seems like a no-brainer!

It has been a long while since I've been screened in by Cindy, but it was very pleasant. She's been there since I started (4 years ago) and I have never experienced anything negative with her. She's always running around working and even when she seems frustrated, she always greets/ says hello. Alicia does an excellent job in her role as a phlebotomist and works hard to make sure donors are satisfied. She has a great sense of humor and loves connecting with donors. She works far harder than what she is paid for. Great job at keeping the center a worthwhile place to visit!

Other than wait time, my experience has been good. Kham deserves kudos for ensuring things run smooth on the floor and that other staff feel confident in the work they do. Through observation, she is consistently being called for assistance and if there is a hiccup, she appears to take the time to help educate the other staff on what happened so they can correct it and learn from the mishap. Edit to my review from a year ago..the manager has worked hard to build a strong team. Everyone works hard taking care of donors as efficiently as possible. They are still very under staffed which causes long wait times. But I do feel that the current employees are happier now than a year ago. They have a great crew, very friendly and helpful. Hopefully they have luck hiring more people like this to reduce the long wait soon.

While the staff is friendly and seems to try and do their best, the fact the decision-makers seem to ramp up promotions during the time college is in session seems counterintuitive. The potential donor pool is already increased substantially so promotions during that period do little more than create massive wait times and backlogs. I can only imagine how much stress this puts on the floor employees that are trying their best to take care of everyone in a timely manner.

The employees here seem to be extremely untrained. The first time the lady didn't seem to know how to properly insert the needle resulting in being hooked up to the machine for 2 freaking hours, with nobody bothering to check. And this last visit resulted in a massive pocket of blood forming in my arm within the first five minutes, which they obviously had zero idea how to handle, doing so by yanking out the needle before even preparing the gauze and wrap. We got there at 5p as new donors and by 6:30p realized they still had not called us up. So I checked in. They only had 1 nurse and could no longer get us in and didn't realized when I told them we were new that we were new. Unsure what new means to them. So we drove over an hour away and wasted 4 hours round trip to not only not be seen but not compensated either. I told them if I left we would not return. I have been a frequent donor here for awhile. Twice a week, never miss. It has been a decent experience but I feel I need to speak up. Management is terrible. They make decisions to drive their profits at the cost of their overworked and overwhelmed staff and at the cost of their regular returning donors. Commenting it's only temporary instead of listening or opening their eyes. I have the exact same thoughts as Chance James. The staff are wonderful but this time of year the wait times are just too long. Appointment times are just a suggestion, they don't mean anything. The last two weeks I have waited over an hour to get to the floor, then additional delays once I get back there. My part takes 35-45 minutes but I am there for well over 2 hours. I think I will take a break until May when the year round donors will be needed again.

Staff is great but obviously making an appointment isn't really required. If I have an appointment I shouldn't be waiting over an hour after being checked in. If people done have an appointment...turn them away or don't require appointments. Also...stop with the fingerprints. It won't read mine and your employee decides to make me wait for everyone that comes in after me to do my check in. Three people so far. I've been here 30 minutes.

This review is for the hard working staff Not "Management" or "Corporate". The staff works hard and does everything they can to make my experience the best that it can be. But, when they are understaffed; over worked and under payed. You get what you get!

I've been donating plasma for the last 4 years in 2 different companies in Florida and now a days in Biomat in Brookings. In all of them you have to wait a specific time to donate. It's normal. But what makes the difference for me is the staff. The tem at this unit is amazing. I can feel that they really care about the donators. Since the reception, till the people on the back . I've been donating here since they opened & there have been times where the wait was long but the staff has always been polite, professional & worked hard to get people in & out as fast as they can. Any questions or problems have been addressed right away.

The staff is very unorganized and the wait times are ridiculous. I should not have to wait over an hour for my appointment. Most times the wait is longer than 2 hours. There are so many things wrong with this place, management and staff that I don't have enough space to name all the issues. Management better get their act together and get the staff to work faster and harder so people can get in and out in a decent amount of time, i.e less than an hour and a half.

Kham was great, everyone does their jobs well. Hopefully the company is willing to hire enough staff to keep employees and donors satisfied.

I have been donating frequently for over two years. They ran a promotion for November to donate a certain amount of times and receive a $100 bonus on the 8th donation. Despite being swamped with school and work, I decided to give it go to help with the holidays. During my 6th donation they took a blood sample but somebody did something wrong and another sample had to be taken again during my 7th donation. Been a donor in and out for a long time. I get that there's an influx of college students, but if you cannot handle the donors that are your regulars STOP ACCEPTING NEW DONORS. This is the second week in a row that I conveniently couldn't get to my second donation because all these new bodies made their appointment before I could blink. There is ways to fix this issue, it seems they don't value the loyalty of some people.

I made an appointment. Brought all information needed. A young man looked at my veins and said that he would ask if the manager would put the needle in. The manager said he would not do it. I have good veins. I showed them the vein that the Blood Bank uses. I am in perfect health. They didn't even try to use a vein. They turned me away. I drove 40 minutes to go there. Use to be a great way to help people and make some extra side money. I understand that biomat is currently understaffed but they take too many appointments that they cannot handle. It now take 2+ hours to donate on a good day. A bad day you'll be here for 4+ hours

Huge waste of my time. Spent and hour answering all the questions and then waiting to get screened to just find out that I need to get my annual physical first and then go through the whole process over again. Certainly something that should be in the computer system when a person signs in so they can determine right away if they have the time to go through all of that. Very disappointed.

I have been donating for about a year now and it's never been this bad. I got here today and waited for almost 2 hours before I got in a chair and there was only 4-6 people in the waiting area.. Things need to change.

Not happy with the receptionist, tone of voice said, "you are boring me" and then was incredibly vague about every answer. I have my first appointment next week, I hope the actual center is more pleasant or one appointment will be enough

hi I'm a regular donor at brookings biomat and I was misled on a flyer that went out about Beating the amount of donations of March and I donated every time in March so I was too consistent but where is the compensation for the people that are regulars here this makes no sense I should get at least something except for base pay

Went to donate, went through the new donor routine again (cause I havent donated for a few years. Stopped mostly cause of the way I had been treated, before. ) Go through everything, get weighed, then summoned back to talk to the nurse to be told, "You weigh to much, maybe lose some weight and come back then and donate." If I could give this place 0 stars I would. First off, I walked in there simply to give plasma as I waited over 10 minutes at the front to be helped I was greeted by a very unethical lady. As I was told that i wouldnt be able to give plasma reasons being they couldnt prove my social security card. Ummm ok go look it up in the government databases. Needless to say I will not ever come back to this facility.

Kham has been one of the friendliest faces at the plasma center. I have been donating for about half a year now and absolutely love it.

Deserves less than 0 stars. Funny story; they told me I had AIDS. I don't have it (I went to the doctor after the whole ordeal.) The Plasma center asked if I would come in so they could run more tests. Several weeks later and nothing. I had to call to see what was going on. They said I was cleared, but I couldn't donate anymore because of their screwup. What. the. heck.
