Update: They put a watered down soap bottle in only the girls bathroom that has been out now for days. Guess I need to report you to the Better Business Bureau and the state health department. Um pretty sure it's against federal health laws for having NO SOAP IN ANY OF THE BATHROOMS. If soap isn't filled within the next week I will be reporting this.
Went in yesterday as a new donor. I went to this facility many years ago and donated. I was met at the front desk by an older white woman. I am 64. She said first thing they do is check your veins? I went to the back, and an employee looked at my arms and said I looked dehydrated and to come back after drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day ! I have never had a problem with a blood draw and am healthy, so I don't understand why they wouldn't even try. It looked more like they were busy and didn't want to b
My friend and I went there 2 times 4 hours before closing and they sent us back because apparently we were late and they were tired from working all day. The front desk lady was so rude, she did physical all day and didn't have time for us 4 hours before closing. It seems like they are too lazy to work. Physical literally takes about an hour so i don't see why there is no time.
The staff is amazing. Caring individuals!!! They definitely can get busy at times but they work their hardest to make sure every one is taken care of
Scheduling system makes no sense. Some days they let you scan right away, most days they don't. Some days they don't care if you're late others they mark you as no show? Front desk lady is always rude and petty and if she doesn't like you will try to make you sit for long times past your appointment time to be the last one called. Supervisor also supports this toxic employee behavior so I suggest going straight to corporate.
For the last 3 years I have been going g to CSL. While you will make a little more money with them ...... you will stand in line hours of your life to do it. CSL basically does 50 and 65 a week but have bonuses for donations 6,7,8. This place has zero bonuses. CSL is 1 hour in line if the line goes to the Kiosks .....then the desk.... IF you pass then you go to draw room.....another hour. So 2 hours anyway you cut it. Here? 5-10 mins to get to desk and an hour in the draw room. 40 and 75 bucks a week. So y
The best thing about being there is when Mr. Vega is there everything runs so smooth I'm always in and out fast Thanks Mr Vega Keep up the good work, buddy
John Vega is the best he needs to be training everybody on how to do their job (not the back)
john vega is the best in there for second point of contact, makes you feel comfortable & puts a smile on your face when you're nervous! :) :) & destiny for the sticking in back! :)
Came to this place after going to CSL in Hobart for years. So much better. Usually in and out within an hour. Everyone is friendly, and seem to know what they are doing. Sometimes people have a hard time finding my vein. But I haven't had any issues with anyone that has stuck me so far.
Wonderful staff lots of personality with the center. Great place to donate! Enjoy the company with everyone!
Grifols is very welcoming and nice I love the way the staff treats me... Everyone is so respectful every time I donate
Employees here do not care scheduling system is backwards no professionalism here whatsoever always an attitude
It's impossible to get a hold of anyone I've called for 6 straight days and they never answer the phone
I love coming here to donate plasma! Everyone is always friendly and the place is super clean. A new tech was in training last week (can't remember her name) but she was amazing with the whole setup and making me feel comfortable. Highly recommend coming to this location ????
Came yesterday to be a new donor & was told they were short staffed & the other staff had left for the day (2 hours before close). I was told to come the next day by 1pm & arrived at 12:50 (close at 4) & was turned away again due to short staffing. I was told to come on Monday, but I'm not going to waste more time & gas to come back & risk being turned away a third time. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me, but you don't get a third chance.
I use to come here some yrs back but the Gary location was better for me. Im back here and still not too satisfied. They say the first donation takes the longest but i guess every donation is counted as the first cus it still takes 3 freaking hrs to get in and out. The appointment thing is useless if its still going to be a 3 hr process. The staff are not too nice ive only came in contact with 2 nice workers here. When people come here they want that happy communication from the workers it helps ease nerves
The staff is most excellent, friendly, professional and knowledgeable about their jobs and care about the donors. They are always open when I need them to be because they have great hours, open even on Sundays. They have a low wait time and they always answer the phone when I call. Highly recommend!
Wow don't really know we're to start but the staff at the front counter are just very rude and I had a very bad experience with Adrian and Jenny. They basically ganged up on me and basically I felt like they were picking at me trienna get me to react but they are so unprofessional and I will be making a call to corporate about these 2 women . If you wanna donate here do it at your own risk these women were horrible and you might walk out feeling worse then you felt coming in. Thank you and have a very nice
I've been donating twice a week here for a little over a month now, and i love the experience every time. The reception desk is efficient, screening takes no time and the plasmapheresis techs are personable and a joy to work with. Even after all that, i get paid to help people who need my plasma products. Perfect 5 out of 5.
Warm and inviting help others at same time and put few extra dollars ?? in my account.
I really enjoy giving plasma here. I always make sure to set an appointment to donate and I'm done in an hour and fifteen minutes. The staff is always professional and willing to answer any questions I have. Definitely the best experience I've ever had donating plasma. Plus the new app they have allows me to track my donations and payments received.
I love that I can make an appointments and get right in. I love the machines that have 2 minute cycles and how I can see what is going on. The atmosphere is fine too. Problem is I've only had 2 phlebotomists that can actually stick me correctly, yet several have tried. I've been to other donor places and never had a problem with any phlebotomist finding my vein and inserting the needle correctly. Don't know if they're just rushing or need to be retrained. Edit added: This has caused major issues because Ive
I have been a loyal donor for years here and every single visit has been exceptional! Even though the people have changed the vibe never does! Everyone is professional, personable and happy to provide a great experience!
Extremely unprofessional for a medical facility. NO ONE EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE. They told me to come in the next day so I drove 45 minutes at 6 in the morning to get there just to be told they didn't have anyone there who could approve my chart. I'm a fit healthy drug free donor who was sitting across from a 500 lb man and a dude with face tattoos who kept picking his nose and wiping it under the arm rest and my pulse was too high so the had deferred me. I wasn't even going to come back because it's be
They have people sticking you without any experience.... if they blow your vein in one arm you can't donate and they are not responsible for you making your 75 on your second visit.. Baloney, you blew my vien. Have a bruise, not responsible. Not allowed your money for their mistakes. Avoid
I have been donating here for a year and the place is clean, staff friendly, I'm usually in and out of there in less then 2hours. I have deep veins and there's only 4 staff members that can stick me. And I like how they talk to you and get to know you when I walk in there they already know I'm a hard stick and they get one of the staff members that knows my veins
I've been donating plasma for 10 years, I give three stars because of the fact that returning donors must make an appointment to be seen, or wait all day for someone to cancel to be seen as a walk in. They tell you that you can't wear hats, staff is overall pretty nice, the apherisis machines are the best, nice building. If they fixed the issue regarding returning donors they would get the five stars.
I called setup an appointment. As I had been told several times as a walk-ins and that appointments come first. I come in at appointment time (actually 15 minutes early) checked in and 2 people came in as walk-ins. They called them before me. Not that I wasnt paying attention. Because the tech says oh I thought you were waiting. Now, anyone who has donated knows no one is allowed to wait in the facility. So, I asked to tech how come you didnt check she couldnt respond. I even said to her my name is on the l
I am a new donor and I almost didn't come here because there are so many negative reviews and I don't see why. I've had about 5 visits, and so far I never had to wait long at all. One time I was in and out in an hour and ten mins!! That's including the kiosk questions and getting processed.. when it usually takes me about 50 mins just to donate. The staff are always friendly. If you plan on coming here , try to make your appointments a week in advance. When I check in, I make my appointment for the same tim
I've never had a problem here. I only bruised once when I had a new phlebotomist poke me. They are very friendly and there is always something great to watch on their TVs. They are a very busy location but that's expected with great staff
The professionalism is good, the facility is clean and we'll organized but very very cold to the point you need a blanket. I staff are very professional. The wait time is ridiculous in this place always there 3 hours for me the last time on I was there it took 1 and 1/ 2 to check in then another 30 minutes to call my name considering not ever going back
Compared to other centers I have been to in the past this one is terrible. They are completely unorganized. Way behind the times as they still use paper charts. When you get here you wait. Then you can use the computer and then you wait. Then they call you up to the counter to get vitals and stuff. Then you wait. Then they call you to another counter and ask a couple of questions and have you sign a document. Then you wait. After that you finally get into a donation chair. Then you wait. Finally someone com
Clean, organized, and all the workers are nice. Wasn't crowded either.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Facility is clean. Visits are just a short trip IF you make an appointment ahead of time. Pay structure is great. Will be returning weekly!!
This place has really bad communication skills. Its impossible to get them on the phone. Only way to get any questions answered/make an appointnent is to drive all the way to the facility and speak in person. But, if you can actually get an appointment the facility is clean, the staff is very nice and the process is quick.
Super backwards. Two days in a row have I woken up at 5 am to be the first person there. If you are a new donor they refuse to make appointments. You have to actually walk in to receive an appointment that's going to be in 4 hours. If you have any sort of life; college, work, anything really then I suggest you go somewhere else this place is not worth your stress.
I'd rather be at a welfare office at their worst times. They not only take alot longer than an hour, but as the ride to one of the donors, they wouldn't even let me know if my husband was still there after waiting an hour past when he was supposed to be done. The lady up front was so big and sluggish she looked lazy. This is the last time I come close to this building. They are not covid prepared as they mention. They are rude and unhelpful. Total waste of Broadway's space. So now I get to leave not knowing
This place is HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. The ppl that work here has very bad attitudes. I was a new donor and had to go through the process twice. On top of that I made my appointment time and they had to reschedule later me 2 hours later. The lady Debra took my blood pressure wrong. This place is HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL and I will definitely be going to CSL plasma center instead.
I think its kinda messed up that I completed well over half of the donation amount that was suppose to be giving and they still only gave me 5 dollars because i said i have to stop so i can make it to work? An i was suppose to get 65.they couldn't even give me half pay for all the plasma they had already. Its a big scam if you ask me. After i had to sit an wait 30min because if you are a walk in they have you sit an wait atleast 30min while they process the appointment. Ive donated at there plasma center in
I have never had a bad experience at the Merrillville Grifols Biomat and I have donated over a hundred times. I even volunteer to be the person they use to practice sticking deep veins. They also laugh at my stupid jokes so that should get them a sixth star.
Will never go back to this place the wait is unbelievable just to donate plasma, how can you have walk ins when you have appointments that you call every 15 to 20min? So why not just say walk ins have to wait a hour instead of tellin people its a 20 to 30min wait when they only call walk ins at the end of every hour. My advice just go to hammond location or portage because you will be at Merrillville location for atleast 3 hours
I have been donating for over two years at Grifols in Merrillville. Everyone is always great here!! Never had a bad experience! Destiny and Marissa always friendly!!
They rules but do not post them. You are suppose to sit in different areas depending on your status but there are no signs posted. And do not bring your spouse and a baby becuse no one under the age of 18 is allowed in the building. Another rule that is not posted. Anytime you do not follow a rule the staff are rude is it a race thing or just a power thing. And they never ever said how much you receive. The staff also treat you like a product and not a person.
Every single time I have come in this place. More than half of the staff is just rude. Horrible communication skills. And 100 percent attitude. And somehow some way I donated and then wasn't allowed to for no reason at all. Worst than Gary.
The staff here are awesome. And the building is always clean. But for some reason they took away appointments!! Very disappointed and I am currently looking for a new place to donate.
The treatment and hospitality that's been provided to me and my father over the years is beyond imaginable. I recommend donating here to get a comfortable and open donation experience Gabriele referred.
I always have a comfortable feeling when entering this facility. The employees are kind and they supply answers that I questions to. Wonderful environment ????????????
So far so good! Just be Mindful when dealing with the African American Community Such as myself that a Sun tan is not a Rash. i was put on block list due to bandage concealment but Specialist later fixed the issue and i was able to continue donating. I am a proud veteran of the united states army and has lived in Brickshire Merriville community for over 5 years!!!!!! The staff treats everybody with respect, and for the most part due thier job.
This location is most convenient for me, but the Griffith plasma center is far superior. The merrillville location requires appointments, while Griffith is walk in. No one ever answers the phone at merrillville so it's very difficult to make an appointment. The atmosphere here leaves much to be desired as well. I think they keep the thermostat at about 30?, so it's absolutely freezing and therfore very uncomfortable for the donors. Also i bring my kindle and prefer to quietly read a book while donatin
I have been going to this facility for a couple months now and everything started off very well but I have recently realized that this center does not do good with correcting their mistakes and I definitely understand that no one is perfect we are all human beings and we all make mistakes but as a business when you make a mistake it is your job to correct the mistake or at least make a valid attempt to correct the situation and that doesn't always seem to happen at this facility and it sucks because I was a
This place is awesome! Staff is friendly, environment is clean. Your helping others by donating and receiving good compensation! I recommend trying it! Ciara is great!
Some incompetent person supplied a set up for my plasmapheresis machine with tubing that had a hole in it. The faulty tubing caused a few drops of my blood to spill on the floor. Now, the supervisor told me that I am deferred for 56 days. Due to the lack of quality control at Grifols Biomat, now my family and I will lose out on 2 months of plasma income which is $900. Thanks a lot Grifols, for your incompetency which is financially hurting me and my family.
Will never go back to this place, i sat an had to wait a half hour just to get processed as a return donor because you have to have a appointment to donate your blood. Than they make you get stick by whoever the workers pick for you, even if you wouldn't like that person to stick you they say you cant pick who stick you witch is crazy. Very unprofessional
Have washed my time now than 8x this month alone because their monitor is over 20bpm points off. I even wrote my Fitbit monitor to prove it. Fitbit bpm showed 92bpm. Their Monroe said 118!? I've spent more than$100 in gas trying to donate to help make ends meet. Technian while kind, acknowledged the 20+ point difference but had to go by their monitor. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME THEY WILL TURN YOU AWAY REPEATEDLY UNTIL THE NEXT DONATION IS BASICALLY JUST JUST RECOUPING FUEL EXPENSES
Been going here for over a year now.. The staff is great.. They do turn over staff often but hey new ppl to get to know is great I guess.. I've donated at a few different places across the country and this center is hands down the best facility in cleanliness, fast times, and great staff... I pass a plasma center on my way to Biomat js
You have to have a appointment to donate your blood? Thats the craziest thing ever heard of cant donate unless you make an appointment ahead of time??????? They are very rude and they make you wait an hr or more to donate even if you are a return donors just not worth the time better off going to hammond or Highland
Returned after a few years today. Elizabeth needs another profession. She literally heard me wince in pain, said nothing...left the needle in my arm and walked off. When another attendant came by to help someone else she looked over and saved me. Never again.
Nice to make an appointment never seen a plasma place do that . Pay for returning donors is a little low , but the staffs friendliness and great attitudes make up for it
When I first started coming here was ok, then all of a sudden, things changed as different workers came,I had the worst experience today since 1989 that's how long I've been saving lives with my plasma for real, I've even worked for three difftcenters along as A floor supervisor and never have I had such rude treatment before I felt like I was going to pass out and no one cared or ask me was I going to be ok and that's the truth and don't care if they Defer me for speaking my mind.
It takes forever most days the only reason I keep coming is cause the bonuses, till then tho,but nice staff overall,..
Always an issue when I go, look to give 3 hours of your time everytime you go. Of course they make you sit for 2 hours before they tell you anything. Get it together!
They make you feel like you're at home they work very well and hard they answer your questions or any questions and they make sure that you're safe.
I like grifols very much and I appreciate the employees at grifols they are very nice and kind hearted please don't ever close the center down. Great workers!
So far in this whole year I had a great experience, I'm usually out in an hour if I'm lucky 45 mnts .
Nice people. I always love going there specially when Kayla is working. She's a beautiful woman.
Great staff! Everyone was so helpful and friendly, made a nervous nelly like me feel at ease. Very clean too!
HORRIBLE PHONE SERVICE. It is ridiculous that I can't EVER get through to speak to someone for simple questions or making appointments. I should not have to call another location just to try to get some assistance. DO BETTER!!!
Every time I come here the staff is very professional and sweet, sticks are on point, love everybody there at the merriville location!
I don't understand why they took away appointments so decided to try the new system and there were at least 10-15 people waiting to be served I just walked right out. TERRIBLE DECISION.
Staff is efficient and prompt. When I had a problem they were prompt with a response .I only had one staff member unable to do my stick .
Very friendly and welcoming ! Love they have appointments set up for people that want to donate
I have been coming for years now and never had a bad experience. And the staff are awesome
very clean and the staff is extremely professional and nice. I have been to other donation centers and this is the most nice and clean one I've been to.
Great staff that trys to get you in and out very quickly. Very easy donation process.
Great and helpful staff
Everyone is elvery nice and they do the bast they can to make you feel comfortable. I refuse to go anywhere else.
This place is alright not dirty the wait is alittle longer then expected but hey your getting paid for a donating which isnt really donating then but its whatever I like it
The staff are professional and courteous. I just wish they would have on the website the conditions and medications that defer you from donating
Well I got there Saturday the 15 2020 about 2:30 to 3 pm and they were already shutting down and closing up site says 7 to 5 p.m. well if that is totally wrong you guys need to update it because I was wasting my time and a waste of my guys fuel to come up there to donate..
Great place just avoid Joseph. I've been coming since 2018 and have never seen or dealt with a more incompetent person....
Great group of ppl that staff. Although they need to set HYGIENE standards for ppl that come in there stinking....tht makes it hard for the donation process.
Great experience! Everyone was kind and they play really good movies.
Been donating about a year now. Staff is great, polite, friendly and efficient.
Overall a very enjoyable place to be in, nice and well trained staff, I enjoy my time coming here
Soooooooo unorganized Sat there two hours and still wasn't called to the counter Soooooooo I left but the staff is very friendly especially Mikki
They go off appointments so if you don't have one you have to do a walk-in. Which means you'll probably be waiting for 30 mins to an hour depends on how many people are ahead of you
Staff is so friendly and kind! Makes donating so much easier!
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
