Grifols Biomat USA San Antonio, TX

Reviews Summary

The reviews show a mixed experience with this plasma donation center. Many praise the friendly, professional staff and clean facilities, particularly highlighting positive interactions with certain employees. However, significant complaints focus on long wait times, inefficiency (even with appointments), inconsistent payment amounts, and poor communication about bonuses or policy changes. Some donors report painful or poorly handled procedures, while others appreciate the painless process. The recent switch to appointment-only has frustrated many, as delays persist despite scheduling. Payment transparency issues and unexpected rate reductions are recurring themes among negative reviews. Positive experiences often cite the staff's warmth and the center's cleanliness, but operational flaws overshadow these for many donors.

This was going to be temporary donation, and I've been donating for 6 months. Paula explained how plasma is needed for people in hospitals, emergency accidents. Rosie and Ethan are the best at testing. Joe and David are also the best phlebotomist. I'm greeted with friendly professional staff. The center is clean, and I would recommend donating at Grifols.

I was assigned a donor chair then a man with a lisp sat down and starting eating on the donation floor. He was told not to do that and thankfully didn't. Later into the donating process this man starts playing music and videos out loud from his phone so everyone could hear the entire time. He was also talking to himself out loud every few minutes or so. None of the staff stopped him from doing any of this, which I'm pretty sure breaks multiple rules. When I was done donating, I had to sit there for almost 2

Never really had an bad experience here but was told there by appointment only I don't know why the sudden switch but that's disappointing to hear when it's gonna take twice as long now for those who don't know and there was no sign on the door or anything. There were like 5 people that walked out because of that. So this is part 2 of my previous review. So they switch to appointments only, which seems to be a pain that most people that come here don't like. When I arrived, my appointment was at 10:15am, a

I've been donating plasma at this location for a year now and all I got was lousy stress ball and thee best patient treatment I could ever ask for. Whenever I walk in to check in to my appointment, there's always a smattering of applause and cheering from the staff. Where else would I even think about donating? And Ms Rose & Ms Paula are always informative about monthly bonuses and specials. Plus they're the best in the business. I said so. ?? P.S. I dig the stress ball. Michael Smith

I haven't had any bad experiences at Grifols in the almost 4 years I've been here. The staff are cool people and I've had small conversations with them time and again.

I love coming here, I've been coming here for years. There is never a long wait, the staff is always so helpful, comforting and knowledgeable.

Very friendly and professional staff. I have been coming here for over 4 years! Experience gets better year after year

I Have Been Donating With This Location Since August 2024, I Have Not Had A Bad Experience At All. Their Communication Skills Is The Best, The Employees I Have Been Poked By I Have Not Had A Bad Experience This Location's Staff Is Great! ??

Great place and they actually care about their people . 5/5 stars completely. Definitely recommend this place to donors around.

Great place. Very comfortable The people are nice and professional Mrs Paula is awesome

I would normally give this place 5 stars, but I think there are some issues that might need to be addressed as far as customer service. I will definitely update it to 5 stars later! This evening in the vital & protein ck I asked if this visit I was getting the bonus & was told I should keep up with that. I advised that the app has never worked for me & would not allow me to log in, but she said she keeps telling these kids to get calendars instead of depending on their phones! I'm not a child & was offended

They are so nice and my good convo if it's your first time I recommend coming here

Very annoyed that I have to go through the entire new donor process since I haven't donated in 6 months but am not given the new donor pay. My screener, Zarya was very good and Beverly quickly attended me on the bed and immediately disconnected me when done. Leslie gave me a perfect, painless stick, despite my scar tissue. The friendliness and professionalism of all 3 is my reason for the 5 stars.

I usually have a good experience here but when I don't there is usually one person responsible for it. Whoever the tech is that's short with long black hair, she never sticks me right. It hurts and she walks away knowing she didn't do a good job but never bothers to correct herself. ?I got some vein? she said as she walked away not checking to see that she in fact got no vein and caused a clot. This is about my 6th time having an issue with her. Whoever was in charge of section D today did not listen to me

This is the best plasma center I've been to there's no comparison that's why I always recommend this place to my friends and family.

i feel like every time i come back i like this place less and less ?? starting with the appointment thing (and not just this place) but it seems like every plasma place including grifols employs people who don't know what they're doing. so only a small handful know how to prick my small veins and do it right consistently? but the ones that bruise and hurt me also do that consistently? so today im all Ice?d up and my arm is killing me now. I don't know much about veins and I'm not a medical professional or a

Great workers super nice and usually good with timing! Come donate and get extra cash

Great staff! Timely and efficient service. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

Great, friendly staff. Always willing to help! Definitely recommend

Place isn't that bad just old system method , place isn't pact which helps the flow but they are short staff , it's 1 person per section sometime one guy is running around trying to stick people and other staff just stands around , there is not urgency on helping or team work , Process donating is little longer than other places , seen sometime they dint stick people right last time I donated my blood got mixed inside the plasma they said I should be ok but I felt I lost alot of blood and got sick that day

Great center! The staff are all really sweet and welcoming :)

I didn't want to come donate plasma with my service dog, but the manager said that it would be no problem. So we figured out every single rule and regulation they had for service dogs. So I made my appointment, show up at 9:45 am for my 10am appointment and the guard stops me and says ?You can't donate with a dog?! What in the world apparently still nobody knows the process. So here I sit in the lobby, no room is set up ( that is why I was supposed to make the appointment), nobody has come to talk to me sin

The employees are all very kind and professional and make my plasma experience fun every time

My experience with plasmapheresis at Grifols - Biomat USA San Antonio. Please read below: The first thing to remember is that you are at their mercy - You are basically a pin cushion. If the donation procedure goes well then great, if not too bad. The needle insertion will hurt, as the needle used in plasmapheresis is larger than the needle used to take a blood test. Most of the employees are very diligent and amiable, who work hard. Now and in the past, there have been times when my arms were visuall

It is a great place to go especially the staff and Ms Paula is excellent

Place is nice and clean and the people who work there are amazing!

I usually don't write reviews but I just wanted to drop a quick line and say how amazing Paula is! She is always ready to go out of her way to brighten up the donors day.I just wanted to communicate that with you and let you know she's always been amazing!Peace ...

Highlight of my week, the staff here has always been welcoming and informative.

Good and easy way to make money but save your time and your veins by going elsewhere they constantly mess up and will get you deferred.

I am a return donar and I have been treated with respect from the staff I love it ! I will definitely recommend grifols

Awesome place friendly staff, rosalinda is helpful and efficient

This is by far my favorite place I've donated at I love everyone here it's just an amazing place!!!!!!

Great experience friendly staff I love it

Times are tough for everyone right now, and I have come into this center 3 times already. Each time I visit the staff is so nice. Rosa is literally the nicest woman and so compassionate. I'm grateful for their efficiency and professionalism. Thank you ??

Great staff and atmosphere however I learned they just implemented appointments. Remove the appointments and get 5 stars. Don't make it difficult for donors like other places. As I left and scheduled an appointment for Saturday I learned this is appointment only moving forward. What a great way to tell donors their time is not appreciated. This was just implemented this past Monday 1-22-24. If you're going to continue with appointments then you need to be fully staffed so that each "client" can check in,

? Updated Review: My previous review holds true. However, there are now fewer machines available to donate. Thus, there has been a bottleneck my last two donations. There have been more donors than available machines. Each of my last two donations have taken more than an hour more time than my average donation time when more machines were available. Positive, friendly, and professional staff! Great way to earn some extra money while helping others. ??

Everytime I come here I have a great experience their always doing their best to get you in an out. Also Paula Garcia she is very awesome!! She is very respectful an has very great Customer service..She's by far the best!!

Love going here because Paula makes this place outstanding! She always has a warm friendly attitude and makes the donation experience a lot more comfortable and inviting. I wish we had more people like Paula!

?Security guard? and manger were extremely rude. I have always sat in the open seating in the front of the building while my finance donates. Today the ?security officer?, if you can call him that, told me that I can't sit there. His remarks were extremely rude after i explained to him that there's never been a problem with me waiting here before. I ended up talking to the manager who was also rude, she told me she'd let me sit there ?just for today because it's hot outside?. Cant believe the hostility over

I've been coming here twice a week for the last 4 months and I've never had a bad experience. Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and professional. The place is always kept clean and even when it's busy they get you in and out pretty quickly. Definitely the stand out worker is Monica, she is always the most pleasant person to be around and she always does a great job! Alex is another one that is always great, he also does a great job and is cool to talk to. I have a few friends that come here and they all a

The staff here are extremely rude!! Went in today and got told I could not donate because I don't live in San Antonio anymore. Even after I let them know that I got started at another location and was still accepted even though I don't live in the city. Called the other location and they said that wasn't true at all, I can still donate. I guess the staff were just too lazy and making up their own rules on why not to accept donors. Either way, never going to this place again! Judging by all the other reviews

Got banned permanently just for a question I accidently clicked wrong on the kios. Wasn't told about it until after a year later. These people don't give af about you and only see you as expendable.

Almost all the staff is so awesome but the one who stands out the most is paula garcia she's very sweet and welcoming she is very knowledgeable about her job . When I'm having a bad day I can just go in and she brightens my day

I love everybody at this plasma. They're so nice and everything is clean. The treat you nice and everybody is so sweet. I recommend this plasma place to anybody.

Since my last review a year ago. This place has really improved. Everyone here is very nice and professional. They really take the time out help you and treat you like you really belong here. Ms. Rosa is my favorite she always keeps my smiling and makes me feel welcomed. I also like Ms. Luz, Ms. Monica, Ms.Keisha well really the whole entire staff. They always go above and beyond to give excellent customer service and professionalism. Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone

I called here ahead to ask if it was busy, the lady told me emphatically that it was a great time to stop by. She was right, it wasn't busy at all but it still took over 30 minutes for me to even reach the screening booths. Why? Because none of the workers took responsibility of me. Although they knew I'd never been there, I was told improperly where to wait. I was in line first but the nurse helped 2 people before me and took forever. Then the lady at the screening booth was rude and that was my sign to w

This place is great for the most part. The staff is friendly, the building is clean and seems very sterile. I have no real complaints except that it seems even if you have an appointment, you're going to be waiting a while. I've always come with an appointment and it still takes a while to get seen. Make sure you have ample time to be here. Edit:whats the point of making an appointment if you're never seen on time? Edit 2: if I show up to my appointment 15 minutes early (like I always do) it shouldn't tak

Best plasma center I've been too

Completely trash!! Staff is so incompetent!! They are all just walking around starring at each other. I've been to plenty other centers in the city, and this is by far the worst!! You'll be here all day too!! Waiting room is full and only 1donating area is open. They're not even calling names just standing around!! Rude staff, no one can answer questions just attitudes and "I don't knows" CSL would never!! I'm only here because they sent a good coupon$$!!

Such wonderful people! The staff is sweet, there was even a guy giving away Halloween treats?? Very attentive and they make sure to explain everything. Will be going back!!

I called to clarify a reason for my disqualification at another location. After talking with two staffers for fifteen minutes over the phone, I was finally told that the disqualification would probably be valid at this location as well. I had to explain several times the issue when all either of them had to do was input my address to see if it was acceptable. I was told that I had to go in person and waste my time instead of being told over the phone. Incompetent.

Ive been coming to this location for a few months now and can say I've only had good experiences! The building is always clean, and staff is always professional, very friendly and accommodating! They definitely make the experience very comfortable and easy.

This place is so nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and respectful. The reason I didn't give 5 stars and leaving a review is because the chairs are gone and it makes my visit feel welcoming. Please bring them back.

Slowest people ever. Screening is fast but then you are called to the donation area to wait forever before someone comes and sticks you. Got on the bed at 1:13pm and I am writing this at 1:35pm and there is still someone before me that has not been taken care of yet. Also one of them never asks if you are allergic to latex, I had to stop her from putting latex on my arm twice. If you come here, make sure you are done for the day or have plenty of time. They probably assume that you doing nothing the whole

Great people, extremely clean

It's a great place, really nice people working there. If you're donating plasma, I recommend to make an appointment, will be faster. Usually end of the day is the busiest time, mornings usually isn't crowded. You can make extra money and help people with your donation. Person in charge of managing the site is the best. Sometimes even if you have an appointment, you're left behind, make sure to tell you have an appointment. Actually no appointments available. You need to be there expecting a long wait

Great place and extremely clean. The only issue is the high heart rate issue and being deferred for the next day. Rose, Chrystal, Galalea are awesome and Becky as most of the staff are very nice. Had one bad stick but was treated with kindness and checked thoroughly my next visit for any issues. First time was lengthy but will provide juice and a snack if you ask. Otherwise I'm very happy with the experience and have been going there since July 2017.

Vicky Vicky Vicky!!! That's why I come here. I always had anxiety about donating until I met Vicky. She is very knowledgeable and never second guesses herself. She is always in a good mood and very reassuring. I have never had a problem when she sticks me like I had in the past. I'm glad that she works there so I can help save lives with my donations. I hope this location appreciates what a dedicated employee she is.

If you like to help by donating plasma this is a great place to go. The intake process was fast and friendly.? I was welcomed by a friendly security guard who pointed me in the right direction. Paul, extremely courteous, informed me of what to expect.? I then was lucky enough to meet Ethan, who definitely deserves a raise. He pulls from a deep well of skills and knowledge. If you are an individual that is prone to anxiety, this gentleman will immediately put you at ease and have laugh & smiling from ear to

Originally went early in the morning was getting a little frustrated at the wait time because it was taking a bit long. Had an appointment so left and called to make sure I could come back and finish the process when I finally returned about 3pm I didn't take longer than about an hour to be in and out. When finally asking they said they were understaffed so the wait in the morning was understandable. And they were super busy. So if donating please be mindful of the staff trying their best and please be pati

Didn't let me bring in my electric scooter in cuz they didn't want anyone to take it and make it there fault I told them I had the keys for it and that they saw me walk in with it therefore they know who's it is and then I said bring it to the back with them or take it to the office and they didn't like it I guess they was just haters The facts u can't donate without tank top but didn't pay attention to that lol all good got my money ????

Background: Donated plasma for almost 5 years now. Started with octapharma locations for about a year and tried CSL for while, ended up sticking with this location for the last year and a half. I donate twice a week, usually 8 times a month, i miss some here and there but thats about average. The reason I stick with Grifols/Biomat. Is because of a few important reasons. Cleanliness - Seems like a low bar to entry but cleanliness is actually rare in these establishments so that was the first thing that st

Donor beware! They refuse to post their payment information for a reason. After being told that as a returning donor after over 10 years, that I will not be paid the new donor rate of $100 per donation, but get $75 for my first 4 donations. I finished my 3rd session today and also had a $5 coupon and was anticipating my $85. They only deposited $45 after I left the facility. I double checked what my rate of pay was with 2 staffers before I agreed to my donation. The fact that the staff decided to give inacc

Staff is almost always super friendly and helpful. They answer your questions without giving you attitude or making you feel dumb. The actual process is super fast (at least for me) once you're established. I've donated at other places in Albuquerque years upon years ago and I've never once felt unsafe in or outside the facility. Highly recommend if you want to help save lives and make $$ at the same time!

Staff is friendly, but be prepared to kill some time there. I waited over an hour just to finally donate. By that time i had to leave for an appointment and literally wasted my time there. NEVER GOING BACK! Other companies will have you in an out In one hour. I recommend going somewhere else.

I have been coming to this plasma center for 2 yrs now and I enjoy the people that work there, only a few new faces since I started doing this, which make me feel more comfortable when I return each visit. Also, they are very friendly. The establishment is very clean. I would recommend this place to anyone. I really appreciate the fact I can make appointments before coming, the only down fall is that you can only get one time slot per 15 mins per person now which sometimes isn't convenient for me at times.

The staff are what make this experience pleasant. I am a regular donor and every time I come, I am greeted with a smiling face, friendly attitudes, and the customer service exceeds my expectations, every time!!! Donating may seem like it's time consuming and boring, but the staff take your mind off of that. Plus you're helping save a life.

The location is convenient and clean. The staff is friendly. Lab tests are delayed, I was unable to donate on my second visit since my test results were not back and it was past two weeks. Results did not arrive until the following week therefore I had to wait to donate until they were received.

I was there in the morning today and I was told by Paula I was going to get a 25.00 bonus on top of the cost for donating I didn't not receive it.

waited 2 hours to see the "nurse" for a physical, then demands proof I haven't been in jail more than 72 hours in the last year because of a scram device I wear on my ankle from a case before covid. ridiculous

I've been having a great experience donating here. Staff are friendly and professional. Sometimes it can be busy but if you find the right times to come it doesn't take too long. I always feel comfortable coming in

Love the appointment system. In and out

Pays nice, plenty of immunizations that?ll give you more pay. Liked the new way they were doing things, not that complicated, just follow the arrows on the floor after you sign in, was so much faster. Ugly chairs are back for you lot that NEED to sit though. Don't bend your rules for those who don't wanna move fast. Don't be sheep! BE THE SHEPHERD! Only complaint is that most TVs don't work or are off so it's a lil boring when your phone dies and you're in-front of a black screen. But hey all around great v

Smooth process and very efficient. Every staff member I came across was amazing! They're all very helpful and super kind.

Updated 06/2022: They need to hire people that actually want to work! This wait is absolutely ridiculous!! This place has really changed. The staff stands around talking and laughing instead of checking people in. Floor supervisors stand around talking about donors and other staff!!! Very unprofessional!!! I checked in for my 2 pm appointment at 1:50 and I'm still sitting here at 2:15 waiting to get checked in!! Get it together people!!!!!!!

The nurse with blonde hair was very rude to me and constantly kept saying, " I should know better to bring my medications." When I was never told to bring my birth control to the appointment. I have donated in the past at other locations never was a problem. I will never go again and the wait time was an hour long.

They have a promotion going on for July. Which is a great time to join! Let them know who encouraged you to go, give members extra cash!???? Patience and kindness goes a long way. Sometimes I have to wait for a bit however, the staff gets you in & out as safely and quickly as possible! When you think about why you are there, remember that you are saving lives!? Yes, not only do you get compensated for your time.?? You are also providing others a chance to improve their lives.? Bring your cell phone and earp

Disgusting place. They will ban you permanently for the smallest things. Do not donate over here, they don't care about you. You are nothing but a donor number to them. Go to biolife or CSL they treat their donors better.

Things have dramatically changed recently. I've been donating for almost two years now and it was much more friendly previously. Expect to stand up the entire process of having Q/A, waiting for vitals and then the time period it takes to get in a bed. Previously they were accommodating to donators by providing chairs for the sitting area (which is no longer being used, unless you have a physical) but now we are not allowed to! I've been forced to stand up for 15-25 minutes at a time when prior I would be ab

I went in today as a new donor I was treated with a lot of discrimination. They said that because I have a full body of tattoos that. It was too many for the nurse to document. I asked if there was a policy stating this and the manager said no she was making a judgement call and said I can see the door. I was not being rude or obnoxious or at any point disrespectful. I just asked to see where I could find where I would be disbarred from donating because I have a full body of tattoos. She again very rudely a

pay went down and they're taking more out of u to accommodate the new machine smh not worth it fir 50-60

Love when Paula does my intake she makes it welcoming and makes me feel at home here

The staff is awesome and very professional. You rarely, if ever, have any payment problems. Plus they have all types of programs beneficial to each donor. The environment is clean and the atmosphere is always pleasant. If you don't pass your first screening with vitals, they give you advice and a chance to retake.

This place is great! Very clean and well taken care of, but they can be a bit busy and take a bit to donate. Other than that they are awesome. Everyone seems to enjoy what they do and are very professional and helpful. Shoutout to some amazing employees that I have encountered over the past few weeks...Rose, Brandy, Cameron, Dana, Christine, and Galilea and there are others whose names I can't recall right now but they are all really good. If you're wavering whether to come here and donate or not just do it

Made my appointment at 12:30 and arrived 12:15 as the email instructs. Gotta say that when it turned 1:07pm and the fact that the appointment didn't matter, I left. These people are nice sure, clean from the look of the place, but they can't keep to a timed schedule to save there lives. The website should say that appointment times don't matter at all.

1st msg didn't post, but I'm used to waiting to get started and I've learned to except that, but waiting over 15 minutes to get disconnected isn't cool!

I always hated coming to this place, but I came back after a couple of years of not being here because i was told I would receive $125 for the first four donations. I was shocked when I only received $40 on my third donation and the staff never communicated that to me. I only found out after checking my deposits. I feel so disgusting to have done this for $40.

This place is horrible. All they do is lie and make up things as they go. I went once months ago and they lied about my referral bonus then they text me to come in again I say sure why not I could use an extra 285. I should have known they were going to make it difficult. Day 1 lie was oh I know the coupon says just screenshot and bring it in but mysteriously I'm told no u need to have the text message as well. Then I'm told come back Friday. I come back and the same girl creates a different lie and says oh
