I went in yesterday hoping to donate. After waiting for a little bit (which I'm assuming is due to low staffing) I heard a man yelling loudly about getting a needle out of his arm. I'm not sure what the problem was, but he definitely sounded panicked. But it made me a bit uncomfortable so I ended up leaving to return next week. The employees are always so nice and helpful, they can't really help when they get in an unruly donor.
May 27th 2025 was the day I decided to stop donating at Biolife. I was a donor for a year & absolutely loved being able to do something I know would help save lives & treat patients. However, enough was enough. I booked an appointment for 7pm & was refused at the door. I walked up to the door at exactly 7pm & saw one manager looking through the door. I'm not sure what her name is but she is a heavyset white woman with dark hair and glasses. As I approached, I could see her turn her back to me from the insid
Had a good experience at the center today. Even though I wasn't able to donate, the young lady doing my physical explained everything clearly and respectfully. Tiki was especially kind, friendly, and helpful. I really appreciated her positive attitude. The staff made me feel comfortable, and I'll definitely consider coming back.
Amazing/ friendly service, and might I also add that they definitely know what they're doing. My experience so far has been very smooth and without complaints. I'm continually impressed with how streamlined they have made their donation process. From the moment you walk in the door til you sit down in one of the donation chairs. Every part of this is efficient and timely. Even when there are quite a few people ahead of you also waiting to be seated, it never takes long to be next up. Which speaks to how eff
So, I donated plasma here at BioLife on Friday. They were busy. After my plasmapheresis was complete, apparently I was forgotten about for approximately 15 minutes and no one came to check on me. There is absolutely no excuse for leaving a needle in a donor's arm 15 minutes - (or even 5 minutes) after having donated plasma. I don't care how busy or short-staffed you might be. It is your job as healthcare professionals to check on your patients, and make sure they are ok. There has to be a specific set of po
For a place where people typically go when things aren't the best financially, members of the staff seem to be quite indifferent and rude. My experience was quite unique; too long for a review here. Of the three interactions I had, only one was kind enough to try and help; even going as far as finding me in the parking lot. Bless you ma'am for trying, while your other two nurses could care less. I'm never returning, because I don't ever want to feel like garbage again.
My visits before today have been fine. Not great, but fine. You never know what attitude you're going to get from the staff you interact with, but it's never been outright unacceptable until today. The first part of the visit went as usual. The individual that stuck me had to dig around a bit to find a vein, which has happened at 3/7 visits, this being the third. So, that's something that should be addressed, in and of itself. Train and evaluate your employees properly. They are sticking needles in people's
Y'all have 2 people running the place as far as I can tell. I've been in line for 43 minutes and moved about 5 feet. If we're being paid for our time, why aren't we compensated for this ridiculous wait. Please get your shit together or we will start going somewhere else. I could have made twice this amount doordashing, so where's the motivation to come here? Be real. Nobody is coming here to help. We all come here to get paid. Here 2 days later and I've been 2nd in line for AN HOUR. There are 4 techs over
I was running late due to being dead stopped in traffic, the lady who answered the phone was so sweet and understanding and let me know the time frame I needed to be there by. I don't understand all these negative reviews and there are way more than 2 employees in here for anyone, who is curious. One answering phones and directing patients on where they should go and wait. Today is my 1st time every donating plasma so I've brought plenty of water and Gatorade to stay hydrated since my veins are very smal
So this was my first time donating. The First Lady I met at the front desk was wonderful and we made good conversation. Loved her. I sat down and waited for about 30 minutes, I was a little early to my appointment. Then I get called up to do intake information. The lady doing my intake information had long dreads to be specific, she mumbled the entire time and just looked like she hated her life. I constantly had to ask her to repeat herself because I could not hear what she was saying. It was irritating. T
Older White Lady named Maria racist she will put white people in front of you. I got there 30 mins before a white guy but we got sat at the same time but she knew I was first because it's in order in the computer.. but since she knew the white guy printed out his info 1st and tried to stick him 1st before I said something..so then she messed up my stick on purpose so my donation took longer
Most employees are friendly. Usually no one at front desk so you have to stand there waiting for someone. First time donors will feel uncomfortable with no one acknowledging them. Several employees are very nice. Two I would recommend finding a new job.
This location has been having major problems. Today we have already been here 2.5 hours and have not been hooked up yet. A couple suggestions for management if you care to make the experience better. You switched sides of the building a few months ago and to be honest things have been going south since that transition. 1. If you know workers are calling off close out open appointments and also call all your new donors and cancel those appointments. I completely understand making them a priority however yo
I was in Grand Rapids for a family event and found a Biolife nearby. I arrived in town over an hour early and talked to the lady at the front desk and was allowed to donate early. The staff there is respectful, helpful and very efficient. Total time was just over an hour. I like the way you are given a color coded card when you are processed up front and you go back to that zone and are almost immediately set up and ready to go. This system needs to be implemented widely. There were a lot of staff mem
None of them know how to answer a phone. Even picked it up to hang up. So pathetic really. Left a message earlier and never heard back, and never received my buddy bonus either. Does anyone know how to do their job? Any 5 star reviews are 100% from their own workers
The nurses and phlebs are amazing, but do not go to this location if you value your time. The past couple months, they've been so understaffed and the lines for vitals and chairs so long, I don't get hooked up until at LEAST an hour after my appointment. The worst was last week, when I didn't leave until two and a half hours later. Donating plasma is great for passive income, just make sure they're staffed.
I referred a couple friends here they get there and they need proof of address while they are renting from me I wrote out a written statement that was unacceptable for this establishment. So they suggested we go to the courthouse have her change the address on her license and we did such she goes back to donate and she gets told that that's not acceptable even though she just got told to go and switch it over and then that would be okay. Your manager needs to get your shit together don't tell us to go do a
My recent experience at Bio Life Plasma Center was truly exceptional! I completed everything swiftly in just 1:30 minutes! Before o could leave the place before 3/4 hours. It was a nightmare. While there are fewer appointments available in the app, it appears to be a more efficient system, and I believe the employees appreciate it. Big applause to everyone involved ? I'm genuinely delighted with the positive changes. Trust me, I wasn't the happiest customer before. Please maintain this excellent service!
I've been there 3 times and never got to donate, they are always making excuses. The staff is very unprofessional. They listen to very inappropriate music. The staff is always cussing. And the facility always smells like marijuana when you walk in. The wait time is always hours long. I would definitely not recommend you go to this place!!. First time I was there for 4 hours and then at the end before I could donate they said I didn't eat enough! When I had a breakfast. Second time they said I couldn't donat
The pay could be better. Each yr the payment gets lower. Some people don't have jobs and it could really help. After all we are saving loves and taking time out of our day to donate. Majority of the staff is great. However I'm cool with alot of them. They work they're butts off and the pay isn't great for them either. The payment could be better, and you could do bed bingo to better our chances of getting more money on our donations. We're giving apart of ourselves away to help someone else live.
It is crazy to have an appointment and it take you so long. My boyfriend had an appointment today and he walked in and there's 16 people in front of him. It already takes forever for this place, but why have people make appointments if when they get to their appointment you're not even ready for their appointment he's not even gonna be done with the screening I've been out here waiting for 30 minutes and they've only screamed to four people. It don't make sense. That's why I don't Go here anymore because I
I had three great experiences here, but then it all went downhill for my fourth donation. I usually use my right arm and right when the needle was put in I could tell it was not the right angle. The machine stopped and the phlebotomist who put the needle in came over and moved the needle around and started the machine again. The machine stopped again and she came over and asked try my left arm. I should?ve said no, but I thought surely both my arms won't get messed up. As soon as she took the needle out it?
I have nothing but positive feedback to give about each experience I've had at BioLife. Jacob?s energy and level of care has been outstanding from my experience and from what I've heard next to me during the donation process! Other members on the staff have had positive attitudes as well. If possible, let's reward the Staff for their excellent services and care!
I have a great experience so far till today I was up for my finger prick and the lady with the curly blonde hair that was at the desk at end was rude. Literally accused me of blowing on her smh if she calls me Next time I'll let someone else go ahead of me
My first day. My gripes are GET NEWER MACHINES. I feel like I time travel back to the downtown location. Update. Second visit was better than 1st visit. My qait wasn't going as I expected it to be from reading others. TIKI is the best awesome skills and awesome customer service.
I had to go in for a physical before I could donate. I went twice, both times the little blonde "Dr." had to get off of her phone to do her job. Then it seemed like she was making things up as she went. Being there and doing her job was the last thing on her mind. I just got up and walked out. It is sad that this is the only place around because they are pitiful.
The Homewood (Birmingham) Alabama location is very inefficient and this doesn't seem respectful to my time, and other donors? time. I have appointments every time. I wait more than an hour before being screened, another hour in line before being seated at the donation station, and frequently wait more than half hour before getting stuck. Why is it run that way?
This place is unbelievably slow. Average time is 2-3 hours. I had 4 people in front of me when I entered and still stood in line for an hour and 20 minutes. Every new donor is placed in front of the existing line. Nobody has any motivation, it's just meandering around with no concern towards the people waiting. What's the point of having an appointment system that only punishes the donor, if you're late then you have to reschedule but they take all the time they want. This is where time goes to die. There a
During my visit while preparing to donate via the vein in my left arm, Prior to the initial stick, phlebotomist did not physically check/feel for the vein they were targeting. Phlebotomist also pulled out their mobile phone while the needle was exposed and proceeded to fiddle with it for another 10-15 seconds after the solution was completely dry at the target area. Phlebotomist then swiftly and roughly inserted the needle, in my opinion, slightly blinded. Painfully I remained calm and still while praying t
Don't go here. The managers are rude. My apartment complex lost my lease, and this place won't work with me unless they get an immaginary document despite me telling them 3 times. It doesn't exist. I got so mad I just hung up. I felt very singled out and targeted.
One word!!!! SAM is the best phlebotomist in Birmingham AL located at the Homewood location you dont feel a thing very professional and well mannerd he makes this place worth coming too way to go Sam!!!!
I've went before this was my 3rd time and usually it's somewhat decent but the people taking the plasma are always very inattentive and don't bother being around which you'd think they would since they're taking something out of u with a literal needle, but this time I went was the worst experience I've ever had, apparently there was needle pressure in my arm which is a horrible pain if you've never experienced it so she then said would you like to switch arms which I did but it was even worse in the second
Light skin girl with the glasses has a terrible attitude lol. Wanted to give this a try and she just completely made me not want to do it anymore
Love the staff but the manager there, she is SUPER RUDE! Before I even started my process they don't tell everything you need to know and they are unorganized! I have needed her help multiple times and she gives you the energy that she doesn't care. I work in healthcare and a phlebotomist myself, so I see the flaws but I never used that towards them due to fact because I wanted to be treated like everyone else and because I did choose that, you can easily spot out the flaws. I will not return to BioLife, I
Slow lines.. unprofessional employees seems understaffed Also less chairs than there should be. The faster they can get people in the chair the better. People don't want to donate because it's a 2+ hour visit.
Staff is friendly and nice. All areas are clean and well maintained. The wait time has decreased since the last year. My last few visit really have been 90 minutes from start to finish. That is great.
Donated here a few times before the pandemic and once earlier this week. Everything went well, all BioLife employees were nice and professional. Donated today and had issues. My left arm was stuck improperly, IV was pulled in and out and moved around and no blood was transferred to centrifuge. Another phlebotomist came over and asked if she could stick my other arm. Seeing my hesitation and facial expression she said please and I agreed. I'm left on a machine operating at fastest speed pulling between 12 an
I had an appointment with BioLife today and Jenn was my tech and she was great! Super polite and caring.
Tae is so sweet and attentive. She cares about her patients and keeps a close eye on you. I was nervous giving for the first time and she was patient and reassuring. She's a keeper! Give her a raise! Also overall this office is run very professionally and like a well-oiled machine. Thanks.
I have donated plasma for years in different facilities and different states because I travel for work. This is by far the worst facility I have ever tried to visit. I say try because this is 3 times in one week where they have canceled ?? my appointment two of the times they didn't even try to contact me. They say it was because of staffing issues. That is horrible since two of the times they were only open from 9 till 3 because they decided to close early. This is poorly ran and poorly managed and horribl
The wait to donate seems to get progressively worse. My appointment was at 4:10 pm and I did not get in a seat to donate until around 6 pm. I didn't leave until 7 pm. I continue to feel like there are way too many appointments scheduled for what the staff can safely handle. For me, I appreciate the opportunity to do something good and get paid but it's beginning to take way too much time to donate to be worth it. 3 hours, twice a week, means I am unable to help with homework and dinner for my family. Or eve
The staff are mostly very nice. But, the process they have is way to unorganized. They are behind, then take people ahead of others who have been waiting for over an hour, and they don't seem to be on the same page when directing people where to go next. They really need someone to go in and help them run smoother. They seem to have a wonderful staff but need better processing. This review is for the Lakeshore Pkwy in Birmingham, AL
There is not enough staff to accommodate the donors in a timely manner. Your staff is not always able to take their lunch breaks much less just a normal break. It is not fair to them to be that stressed and it is not fair to the donors to be there around 3 hours just for a donation. You've lost too many good employees due to stress. I have been giving for 4 years and I think last night was my 300th donation so I've seen and heard a lot over the years. Take care of the good ones that are still there! 3/20/2
They do a great job. Just wish they would hire more staff to help the great ones that work there :)
They are the slowest bio life I've every been to , they literally always only have one person taking vitals ! Even if the line is super long , they refuse to add an additional employee to take vitals , they walk around and talk to each other & move super slow ?.. other than the process the donation goes smooth & they are good at properly sticking the needle so that's a plus , but just be prepared to spend 2-3 hours here , even if you donate often
I have mixed feelings about the center. When they're staffed properly, I enjoy going and don't usually experience any issues. But in the last 6 months I have been sent home several times due to staffing issues. I drive 45 miles round trip twice a week to donate. So it's such a waste of gas when I can't donate for something beyond my control. I would also note that my interactions with the nurses are almost always unpleasant!! They act like they hate their job, and I'm an inconvenience. Would it kill them to
I have been coming to biolife for more than 2 years and for the most part I like coming to biolife but my issue is when u have an appt there shouldn't be 20+ people in front of you. Which means at times they override the computer so then it doesn't matter how many comes in before you when I'm the one that makes my appt. Then I'm spending half my off day in here. ??
Honestly such a horrible experience. They gave me a double hematoma (hematoma on each arm) and got blood all over my clothes, etc. When asked if there was anything Biolife could do, I was told no, but they would give me something to get the blood out of my jeans. 5 minutes later I was told even that would not possible. The whole ordeal took more than 3.5 hours. I experienced a lot of pain for not that much money, and then had to go use that money to buy stuff to get blood out of my clothes.
The place is always nice and clean. Depending on the time of day you go, the wait time can be very long. It seems they don't like to jump in and help with the screening process and leave the little guy to do it hisself. I absolutely love going when Tae Tae is there, she is the best. I will also not that if your don't have a good promotion code the money is not very good, especially if you don't live close. All in all I would recommend Bio Life to others for sure.
Had all info needed and still refused me cause they couldn't verify address. Do you really think that the state of Alabama will give you a driver's license with a non valid address? Dont think so. Had mail with my name address and social security number on it from the social security office still not good enough. Do you think the social security office would send mail to a non valid address? Don't think so. If I could give 0 stars I would. Waste of time gas just to have EVERYTHING you required and still be
I went there for the first time on Friday and l had to wait to be seen. My appointment was at 1130 and didn't get seen till 1145 then I was sent home to get my marriage license to continue my identity process. Came back 20 mins later. I had to wait another 15 mins for the guy that told me to go home to get my paper. He came out then left. So another person came to see me and she got my info made me start the process over kept telling me to hold on while she went to talk to someone twice then another lady ca
Worst place ever. The women at the front were very nice but they seem to need more help. They do not honor appointments at all. And I was there for four hours before I was told that I would not be able to donate. The nurse never even gave me a physical! Wasted my time! Never going back and will not be recommending to anyone I know. If I could give zero stars I would.
Truly an awful experience. It was my first time donating plasma and i was told it would take longer for me to get a physical because there is only 2 nurses but I said an extra hour wait is okay.. so I stayed. The wait to even start my process took 35 minutes. Everytime I would complete a stage of onboarding, the wait for the next step was absolutely brutal. I finally completed all pre checks to donate except the physical in about 3 hours. And i was told waiting for a physical would be a while but I could le
The absolute worst. I had an appointment at 1:45 for a physical since it had been a long time since i last donated. I arrived 15 minutes before because I knew there was a bit of a wait and I waited 30 minutes before I even got asked my name and information. Another 30 minutes to get started on the assessment because i had to wait for someone to tell me to start. This is unacceptable. I have been here an hour and a half already and I haven't even begun to donate. This is ridiculous. Then to make matters wors
I literally was given the run around for two weeks just for them to tell me I wasn't able to donate for a year because I answered not sure on a question. What a waste of time lol.
BioLife used to be a great lucrative side hustle you could do for extra cash while also making a difference. However, over the last year they have become severely understaffed. You can easily be there for over two hours waiting to donate (this wait time doesn't even include the actual donation)! Previously, I could be in and out within an hour and a half. I was there a couple weeks ago and I waited 2 hours just to check in and do my preliminary health screening, and I still had at least 5 people in front of
They don't adhire to appointment at all... Waited over 2 hours each visit only to be told by a nurse that 1. cause I had sniffles that she wasn't gonna pass my physical. 2. That is was to late for her to do my physical cause she had been to lunch. They need better time management & better service especially with these nurses.
Great experience super nice people they know what they're doing!
It always take 2 hours just to get in line to donate they don't have chairs while we wait it's ridiculous honestly
Lewanda and Tae have been wonderful. They are such friendly people.
This facility is run pathetically. In three trips there it has averaged over 3.5 hours to donate and leave. No staff check on you or apologize for their poor and severely inadequate procedures and ability to move donors thru quickly. I've been to volunteer events run by teenagers that are run better than this dumpster fire. If you wanna help others and make some money by doing so this isn't where you want to be, EVER. Management on site should be fired for what they allow here.
Ok, so I have been coming to the plasma center in Birmingham, AL since it opened its doors. It was really great at first as I was able to get in and out in within the 45-60 minute range. However, after returning again to donate after COVID earlier this year, I have been hugely disappointed. The friendliness of the staff has decreased greatly with the exception of one staff member named Madonna. She is always friendly and upbeat no matter what is happening. Secondly, the wait has gotten almost unbearable.
Clean facility , awesome staff . Terrible logistics in scheduling . The staff was so overworked tonight . I went in at 5:05pm and did not leave until 9:35 pm. Line was supper long and only a hand full of workers . Why would you give that many appointments in that Limited amount of time frame? Setting an appointment means nothing .The staff was so over worked I felt sorry for them . In my honest opinion I think there should not be any ?new ? donors /physicals after 5pm . Encourage those type of appointments
I gave the information they needed, was checked by several employees, including having them look at my arms, had my blood pressure tested, had my finger pricked and my blood tested, answered a painfully slow loading questionnaire, waited around a few times, then finally was told I would be unable to donate due to eczema on my elbows. Even after having several employees look at my arms prior, all who evidently saw no problem, and aside from the fact I am on no medications for it, it took 2 hours for them to
Had the worst experience with this super rude nurse on Friday afternoon during the memorial day holiday. Because I'm from another country, she asked me more than once if I spoke English. And yes, I do! When it was her southern accent that was impossible to understand, also, she kept insisting that someone must have helped me with the test. She had a horrible accent and was difficult to understand, and had no patience for repeating information. Then I decided to leave because I was tired of being humiliated.
The last three or four times I have been in it has been quick and easy. No standing in line for hours to get a chair. I was in and out within two hours. Place is always clean. I highly recommend this to all my friends.
The staff is fun and friendly. I'm in and out quickly. Great experience. The idea helping others, and making money is a winner for both ends in my book.
Bunch of weird people honking all the parking lot like they ain?t obvious af
I have been providing plasma to this location since it opened. 2 days prior to Thanksgiving 2022 my wife and I experienced a house fire which since then has had us displaced into a local hotel. I've left 4 voicemails to the Birmingham center and 3 emails to the ?contact us? link on the main website. To this day I've not gotten any response. I decided to make an appointment with physical in order to begin again donating and to have my pay card replaced. Once arrived I told the staff of my situation..they
I'm very impressed with this facility. The staff is very professional, efficient, and friendly. I didn't realize how good this place was until I visited a CSL plasma center. Night and day difference! Since I'm just lying there for 50 minutes or so I can observe the goings on of the employees and how they train newer people. The senior techs know their stuff. They're always busy but they never waste the donor?s time. They seem polite to each other as well as to the donors. This place seems to have good mana
Today was not a good day . I was used as a Guinea pig while someone new started today . She pricked my finger didn't do it right was squeezing the the point that I now have a big bruise on my finger then she didn't put enough blood in the tube so I had to be pricked again . And she was taking so long . She had someone standing over her watching her . Then once she sees she's not doing it right she says the next one you just watch me do it . She should?ve did that from the very beginning instead of having he
I had an appointment for 9/2/22 at 5:35pm. I get off of work at 5pm and it's more than a 30 min drive. There was very bad traffic and didn't get to the facility until around 5:45pm and I was denied service. The lady at the desk said there were no more spots available even though I had an appointment. I was never told about a ten minute grace period, until today. Every time I've went to donate, I would always spend the minimum of 30 mins waiting before donating. If this is how BioLife does business, then I
They refuse to do their jobs and let the clients just set there! Very slow and let ppl who came in after me go b4 me
I had an appointment last November but had previously donated 10+ years ago at a facility that no longer exists so they had to transfer my records- which no longer exist. After a phone call saying I should register as a new patient because of this situation, I made an appointment as a new patient. I explained the situation to 3 different people, they needed a lot of documentation-which I had. I was patient for an hour, 2 hours of waiting to try to get my physical and get everything sorted out. I understand
Some of the staff act like they don't want to be there. Lots of emotionless faces. The first staff I interacted with was rude and passive aggressive. Tho one that set me up on the machine was similar.
The employees were fairly sweet and over all a good experience and it's them. I was not told before had the my child could be in the facility. That's ok I sent her home and hour away. Only to be told that I couldn't donate bc of a allergy I don't even have anymore. Then proceeded to wait almost two hours before getting ahold of my ride. I little heads up or notice would have been greatly appreciated since I now have wasted time and money on a pointless visit. Thanks for nothing.
Slow slow slow slow.......hire more people 14 chair open 30 people in line. Really 02/15/2025..... Worst ran facility I have ever seen......
I signed up online and scheduled/rescheduled my appointment about 3 times because I was nervous about donating. Finally mustered up the courage to go in today. The facility was clean and the workers were pleasant and professional. They put my information in the computer then checked to see if I had good veins before continuing the sign up process. I only had one good vein and they said you need to have a good vein in each arm. I was bummed I was rejected, they were polite about it and said I could try
This place is by far the cleanest and friendliest. My entire experience was lovely despite having to come back three times for my first donation. They only sent me out because I was sick and they were following policy to protect others as well as myself. That's thoughtful and responsible! I'll never donate anywhere else in Birmingham. The phlebotomist was friendly and I didn't have any problems with the stick or draw. I am actually looking forward to scheduling my next visit. Oh and when the supervised chil
Was made fun of when i left. Someone i came with over heard one of your employees say that someone like me shouldnt have even tried to come in and donate. I have tattoos and piercings and my hair was dyed. So i felt very upset when i heard this. And will more than likely never come back. She was rude and in wasn't even able to donate because of one of my tattoos. Ive had great experiences there this was the first bad experience and will be the last time i come to this establishment.
Wanted to donate so I made an appointment. After waiting 45 minutes someone finally acknowledged me. Two hours later after going through physical and explaining all 14 of my tattoos. I was told I couldn't donate because my nose sounded a little stuffy........ Really? Why was my time wasted like that? That should've been discussed before I wasted 2 hours of my life there.. I will not ever go back.
My first 3 appointments were ok, though the wait is RIDICULOUSLY long due to staffing issues. 4th appointment was turned away for having a pulse over 100. Ok, understandable. This last time checked in, went through prescreening, waited and hour and a half. Always use the same arm never had a problem, however this time was denied and told ?Quality control states we can not stick through any ink. We also require there be a 1inch space of ink free skin in order to donate? I and a lot of other donors are HEAVIL
This place honestly needs to be shutdown by the relevant medical regulatory agencies. These people aren't even state certified just in house training and it shows. No one cares about their job, they just rush and hurt you due to wanting to resume their conversations. I'm glad you guys hurt me again and deferred me. You saved me from a life of medical issues due to all the hematomas you give people. Get your scheduling logistics down or do away with appointments entirely. Also the "nurses" are just people
I stopped coming because they would send me away for being there 5 minutes early and one manager in particular was rude. I couldnt be seen until 20 minutes after my appointment when I tried to go back today, months after the fact, and was at first hopeful when i saw no signs of the evil manager. But the older lady in front was fanning herself and complaining and waiting on people who came in after me while refusing to give me any of her time. She was also covered in hickeys. How is that for disgusting!
Rebecca Morris is awesome! She always takes time to greet you by your name and is so friendly, not to mention I never have any issues when she sticks me! Definitely one of my very favorites!! With quality staff like this, it makes my visits so enjoyable!!
I have to say I have been coming for now one and half years to this location and would not go anywhere else.. From the time period you walk in the door and greeted with a smile, regardless of the phone is ringing , the line at the door, people awaiting assistance. ?? All the staff are all KIND WARM HEARTED AND WORK SO HARD, always gracious very caring it's honesty when I go there my time away from corporate life SO A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL!! For your kind warm hearted nature that you give not only to mysel
Your first appointment they advertise it takes 2 hours. Try more like 3-4 hours to get to a chair. And another hour to actually donate. Maybe they should also try doing medical screenings BEFORE they do registrations/questionnaires/or vein checks to ensure you don't go through 3 hours of screening just to get to the physical and be denied or delayed due to a medical condition you can't control. But of course they want all of your contact info including social security numbers first so they can call you 3x a
Everyone I came in contact was was polite and professional. The sweet lady that stuck my arm was the best I've ever had. I was very nervous about that part and I mean it when i say I didn't even feel It. If I had anything negative to say it would be how long I was there. It was about 4 hours from start to finish but that was because i was a new donor, it won't always be that long. I highly recommend. Thanks Biolife!
First of all, I made an appointment for my first donate for 2:30. It was after 6 before I ever left. I go back for the second donation and I tell them not to stick the arm they used last time and they did it anyways resulting in a blown vein and having to be stuck again. Third time I'm told I can't donate because I have a bruise form where they blew my vein the last time. I was even given a hand out about what to row out a hematoma but no where did it say I couldn't donate. The staff is rude as well. I won'
Poor nursing staff, I was stuck wrong when giving plasma and the staff caused me to get a big bruise underlying skin and would not let me give again until the bruise was completely gone, not yellow but gone completely. Causing me to miss out on the promotion deal I was set to get. Other people who give also come in smelling of Marijuana give everything I have been there and turned down after driving for 45mins because of a bruise that they gave me. Very unprofessional place they definitely have their pick
The place is clean and some of the staff are super nice. My experience started out well but after about my 4th visit, there was always an issue with the needle and my vein. One time a phlebotomist hit a nerve, there were times where they had to adjust the needle after it was inserted which isn't fun. One finally told me the direction of the needle is important and some don't know that. That sounded like she was saying some employees weren't inserting the needle right. Seems like a place that specializes in
Tried giving them another chance but they are still short staffed and disorganized. Took 3 hours to get through today and there wasn't a line when I walked in.
It has gone down hill some over the last three months. Wait times have increased. It is now taking around 2 hours to donate plasma most times I go. Also, I've noticed the facility is not as clean as when first opened. I will say the staff at this location is very friendly and the best part. They have also restructured their compensation to donors which means regular donors will be making less per month unless they start giving new bonuses.
HORRIBLE! If I could leave zero stars I would. As a new donor I expected it to take around 1-2 hours. I arrived early and waited until my name was called (45 min late since they kept taking people that had missed their appointments). I spent 3 1/2 hours just to get to the nurse that reviews your medication, only to be told that I did not qualify due to a prescription. You would think this would be something they would pre screen for. This place is a joke! Went to another plasma donation center and had no i
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I honestly want to warn people to stay away from this place. I have had two extremely inappropriate and unprofessional experiences from two different nurses at this location. One actually laughed at me for my questions; I felt very disrespected. The manager, John, tried to fix the situation, but it left such a bad taste in my mouth. I reached out to a few friends to warn them about it and they told me about similar experiences. There are other places in birmingham to don
First time donor here. Naturally, it took a while but that's to be expected the first time. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Still coming here since November and they are doing great! Naturally, some days are longer but that's normal in life. They do real good and do their best here and really care.
Very short-staffed. I had to wait 5 hours one evening. Have been turned away before ?but they did add $50 credit to my account. More help needed. Pay must not be good.
Absolutely every aspect of this place is beyond perfect. Wonderful people, beautiful facility, great atmosphere, they even have a daycare center for mommy donors. Even the process is as simple as they could possibly make it and getting paid is problem-free. All other facilities have a lot to learn from this place. Me and my husband both fell in love with these guys right away. Everything about it could not have been more perfect.
I'm in the medical field. Great customer service.
The staff are awesome! Every time I've entered the center they are always on point. They get busy but get you in and out PDQ. I have to say BEKS is a pro. I have been stuck so many times in my life and it can't be a little painful at times but I never felt anything when Beks stuck me. Highly recommend coming to give and safe someone?s life.
Overall experience was great with my technician Rebecca! Only reason why I am posting anything was it was really disturbing seeing someone walking around with fingernails that are so long that she probably can't put gloves on! When I asked Rebecca who she was, she is a Training Supervisor from Florida! A supervisor for a Plasma Clinic where needles, blood and peoples health are a priority should be a lot more considerate and if her position is taken seriously then it doesn't show by her actions because not
Trip #1, i was turned away because apparently i did not have a proper meal before donation. Trip #2 i was turned away because i was still showing as an active donor in another state from when I donated 20 years ago while in college and they needed to transfer my file. Trip #3 i was told i could not donate because i was over the allowed weight limit. I'm not mad about being turned down due to my weight, i am mad about wasting 3 trips costing me money and time that is not reimbursed by biolife. There is no
Wow! The wait time is ridiculous, I don't recommend. My first visit was about 4 hours. Ok I came back for my 2nd and 3rd and it's terrible, still 2 hours 2 donate. You have to make appointments here, which is crazy to me bc I've visited a center that doesn't require appointments and they are faster than this place.
Donated plasma for almost a year. Just started with this place and the staff is so nice except the lady with the long braid who does the fingersticks. Completely rude, doesn't talk to you, makes you feel like an idiot. Makes me want to turn around and walk out when I see her
Customer Complaint about Manager John I had an unpleasant experience with the manager John at BioLife. I will start from the beginning. I came in and asked if a manager or someone who knew what they were doing to stick my arm with the needle for my plasma donation. (Reasoning: I had 2 hematomas from the new people training. The 1st time the woman stuck my arm and moved the needle from side to side looking for the vein. She did not look confident but let it play out anyway. It was my mistake to trust her in
From the moment I walked in the first thing I noticed was how CLEAN & NICE everyone was. Billy, who did my physical exam, was the kindest and most patient person. The ladies who actually did the plasma donating were very professional. Checked on me multiple times. I would definitely recommend this facility!
Had the most rude and unprofessional nurse doing my physical!! I'm healthy, workout 5 times and eat right. I'm in my 50?s, weigh 118 lbs and only on Lipitor and Protonix. I told her I have no health issues other than being on those 2 meds! She tells me obviously not, you're on Lipitor. WTH ??. It's totally genetic and my Mom?s side don't have elevated cholesterol levels. So after wasting 4 hours of my life, I was denied.
I just love BioLife every sense I started going there from Day one everybody is so nice Thanks BioLife
Donated blood today & Dawneshia was my person and she was awesome! She shows true professionalism in her work and I hope I have her every time I go! Barely felt her stuck me! ??????
Very nice staff! Very clean facilities! Greeted us upon entering & everyone kept smiles on their faces. Try to process donors as fast as possible but also accurately. Felt very inviting. Best plasma donation facility Ive ever visited! Would definitely recommend!
Great place to do plasma donations, very clean ample parking, outstanding techs especially Rebecca. One big gripe and that is new donors are placed in front of the line of the donors that have been with them a long time when the check-in process comes up, management needs to adjust this. Other than that just a clean friendly environment that helps others in need of plasma.
The staff is friendly but I cannot believe the amount of time I wasted and money I lost due to being denied. They need to improve their screening process big time. I spent two hours here and got nothing for my time.
Rebekah is great. She is the only one that has been able to stick me with any regularity. I hate using anyone else. The girl named Samantha who is the training supervisor visiting at the Birmingham,Al center has nails so long it makes me sick. There is no way it can be sanitary. I will not let her stick me
One of the worst encounters i?ve had with a ?professional? office. Lady at front desk was beyond rude, not helpful and would just give me paper to read so she wouldn't have to explain what I was asking. Rolled her eyes and called me ?girl? when I asked another question and told me she couldn't help me with the form i was signing. Definitely will not be coming back!
I donated at a Biolife in Texas for about 3 years. Never had a real issue with them. I was certainly never scared to donate. I came to this Biolife expecting the same experience. Instead I end up with 3 bruises on one speed and one donation. I'm kinda scared to donate here. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was because the staff was very nice and professional.
Been trying to donate since October 2020!! All the the nurses are incompetent!! I've interacted with 3 of them so far. I'm seriously doubting that management has any control over this location. I've given fax numbers every time they write the wrong number down. No one can never find my chart!!! I looking into escalating to the highest authority. No one should never be treated like this!
Less than thrilled I have been placed on permanent deferral due to a false positive on something they were aware was a false positive even when sending the paperwork. Even cleared by my primary care doctor confirming the false positive. I understanding taking the measures to ensure plasma that goes to others is clean etc. but this error is clearly on yall and yalls lab in turn rendering a healthy viable donor ineligible. I have been donating since November of last year and had no issues until this point.
Absolutely the worst experience. After 40 minutes of being poked, screened and meeting with an RN I was told that since I donated blood last month I wasn't eligible. Their website said nothing about blood donations nor was there anything on the screening questions that would indicate a problem. There isn't enough money to get me to go back to that scene. Go only if you have several hours to kill. While the Red Cross doesn't pay me at least they respect my time and make the donation process seamless. No wond
I have to say the first time I went they were great. Well today was different, rudest girl ever did my vitals and I asked three times to talk to the manager and he never showed. I asked four people including the assistant to have him call me and 8 hours later no call
I went there Tuesday and it was terrible. First, I go in and they make me sound dumb for asking questions about donating plasma and looking at me funny. Then, when it was time to donate, I sit down and I tried raising my arm and the lady restrained me! The poke failed and hurt extremely. She didn't know what she was doing. It was the worst voluntarily experience I ever had!
I've never been stuck and bruised so many times in my life. Been donating over 15 years and I can think of every time I've been messed up on one hand at other places. This place does that to me at least 4 times a month. Worst phlebotomists in Birmingham. They will ruin your veins here. Never come to this place if you like your arms
I'll never come back here again they are so unprofessional!!!! I've had problems here before the last time due to a women lying on me saying I got out the donar bed with the needle in my arm. That doesn't even sound right unless you're just mentally crazy otherwise why would I get out the bed knowing there's a needle in my arm ? But this time was even more unprofessional and I'll never bother to come here ever again !!!!
4 hour wait! For those who donate, bring l your phone charger, a chair and snacks. It's standing room only. Before you respond with your canned response, I already sent you a message via your website.
Absolutely great staff!! They went above and beyond to help me and talk me through everything they were pretty amazing.
If I could leave no stars I would me and my husband came in and waited almost two hours and we both were sent home because "they couldn't find our veins"..you could tell they were just in a rush because of all the people and they rolled eyes at me once I asked for a second opinion she complained how many people were in the building..they made me seem like an inconvenience when I'm trying to give back and donate. Never coming back.
There's this one worker there she's very rude to all the other workers. She curses at them as well as the donors. It's the worst!!! We got into it one day and she threatened to even fight me outside. She's very unprofessional and I will not be back as long as she's employed there.
Staff here are rude and need to take a course on how to NOT blow veins. They could also use a course on customer service because they are by far the rudest people I've ever met.
While it was professional they're not concerned with timing at all I got there at my scheduled appointment and still had to wait over 45 mins and still had nobody to take my blood. I even asked and all I did was say just wait. In my opinion don't go during the lunch time.
Kristi was super helpful today. I was in another state and she still helped me with the information I needed. She went above and beyond to help. And that was amazing to my wife and me. What a great employee. Thank you Kristi.
I really the love staff. They make sure you are comfortable and are super sweet.
Although my wait time was pretty long, I had time to observe the Professionalism of this facility.... They were under staffed but managed to show concern by personal apologies from the General and Assistant Managers..... I was walked to my car twice by 1 of the staff members being we are not allowed to leave the building.... I was very impressed with the attention the staff gave every donor & I was greeted by the General Manager on my way out so this is why I say they deserve a 5 Star Rating!!!
Rebecca has been absolutely AMAZING every time I've donated. She always makes sure I'm comfortable and taken care of. Very personable and fun to be around.
I was sent home with a very badly bruised arm for two weeks and two swollen veins i have never had a bad experience until someone was sticking me without turning on the cuff and they had stuck it to far up my arm
All I can say is no wonder my patients at the hospital are waiting 2 weeks+ to receive plasma. I tried to give here, and they had no interest in receiving my rare blood type plasma. I have been waiting for so long that it is almost not worth it. No one has this kind of time to wait. Very inconsiderate that workers are standing around and talking and not doing their jobs.
The staff was nice and my tine being at the facility was pretty quick for my physical and first donation
I really looooove the place! The stuff is very polite , friendly and helpful! They can answer all your questions. If something wrong they will explain to you . I donated about a year and they already like a family! I feel soooo comfortable when I back again and again!
I COMPLETED MY ENTIRE DONATION AND WASN'T GIVEN MY $70 AS PROMISED. I WANNA KNOW WHY YOU GUYS. SHORTED ME OUTTA $10 I ONLY RECEIVED $60, THOSE MONIES WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME AND $10 MAY SEEM INSIGNIFICANT TO Y'ALL BUT I REALLY NEEDED THAT $10 AND BESIDE I EARNED IT !!!!
The staff was wonderful. Very caring and helpful. They all need raises in pay.
Horrible experience the staff is rude I had to be stuck twice because they don't know how to stick ill never ever be back worst place to donate in Alabama!!!
BioLife on Lakeshore is clean! The staff feels like family and makes you feel comfortable asking questions.
I've donated here and at Tuscaloosa a few years back and the experience at this location is so well organized and moves so much faster. The staff is nice and helpful and all my visits have gone smoothly and fairly quickly
I love the experience here and the service is fast too!
The heavyset light skinned intake clerk has no professional greeting skills. She has a lazy response that sorta takes u away to another plasma center. That's exactly what I did, went to another plasma center. It's not my fault u have a eating habit.
Staff is very friendly! My only complaint is sometimes there is a long wait and the amounts per week change too often.
Under the impression that the male manager targeted me and deprived me of my donation. All of a sudden the day he says stop talking would be the day and the first time I registered a high blood pressure, he rejected my donation
Slow , waiting all day and pay goes down.
Dee is my FAVORITE rep. She is very polite and sweet. I always prefer her. She is very smart and knows what she is doing. I always request her to stick me.
I love BioLife lakeshore. They have the sweetest employees and very friendly. They enteract with the clients and it's an enjoyable atmosphere.
What's the point of saying ?call us? or even having a phone for that matter if y?all not even going to answer the phone??? The job is not that hard to where u can't simply answer the phone for a less than 2 minute phone call. Same stuff EVERYDAY. y?all are ridiculous
I've been here TWO AND A HALF HOURS and have yet to start my donation. They're ridiculously understaffed. Plan to spend 4 hours here for a simple donation.
This was my first time ever donating plasma and the staff was extremely informative, profession and kind. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable at all times. I will be back soon.
The best plasma center in Birmingham been donating here for going on 3 years. The staff actually cares about you unlike the other centers. Like octavo phrama or grifols I highly recommend. PS3. Use me as a reference lol
There was a complication in donating which was due to the needle placement by the phlebotomist. Now I can't reach anyone in HR to ask about their insurance for reimbursement.
Turned an IV in my arm 90 degrees causing me to miss 2 weeks of donations and making me miss completion of the new member bonus. Stop advertising promotions to new donors who don't qualify for them.
went in today to get help Male manager was smart with me I told him I had a appointment i needed to cancel he insists i can't get another time when I never asked then tells me that they are busy and can't just jump to the phones or set appointments very rude and poor customer service Then the building is slow as i have ever seen when I go but he Just walking around
Since y'all wouldn't accept my school ID that I brought, even though it's on the list you emailed me, I will go somewhere else to donate. I wasted my Saturday driving all the way down here from North Alabama.
Beks was so helpful, especially with my first time donating- she even let me borrow her stress ball! Really great staff all around
I am all about helping people by donating but when I drove across town to donate and only received $40 that was an insult. I won't be back.
Find time and last time.everyone was sweet except for the nursei was pulled out of line and was insulted and sent home I will go anywhere else.
Good people. Always polite. Some new ones sticking. Still need a little more practice
The staff is very nice and helpful. The assistant manager (lady with blue green hair) was very nice and answered all my questions.
I love tayyyy and her friend the is most closest too.. They are my favorite
The lady stuck my arm got my arm hurting right now and I can't donate in 8 weeks because she didn't no what she was doing
Walked in with my mother and was told before I could even open my mouth that if i wasn't donating that I HAD TO LEAVE. I was going to but I felt like they didnt want me in their building. Ill go to another place to donate.
Staff was professional and courteous- in and out in about 1hr and 45 mins.
The staff is so professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Every visit is worthwhile. I highly recommend this facility.
Horrible customer service. From the time I walked in the employees are rude and fail to explain the process and what is to be expected. Communication is nonexistent.
It's great to know your helping a patient in need somewhere and getting compensation for it.
Staff is friendly and professional. This has been an easy process and I have already recommended many coworkers.
Friendly staff, clean environment.
Rude and unorganized staff. Would not recommend.
The wait has gotten better in the last few weeks. This helps with my schedule.
All the folks there are great Rebecca is awesome she's very friendly talkative and makes you feel comfortable.
Great service by the staff. All professional, friendly and helpful. Well maintained facility. Love coming here.
The process was easy and smooth. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Very clean facility....Staff is always nice and welcoming
Awesome experience every time! Super friendly employees such as Phil, Jonathan, Krista, Bre, jimmy, Danielle! ??
Great place to make a couple extra hundred bucks a month. Friendly staff, clean facility, usually in and out in about 90 mins.
The staff at Biolife are outstanding & professional. It is a comfortable environment and well maintained.
Try answering the phone instead of leaving everyone on hold. I was left on hold multiple times and when I showed up to the center I watched your employees do it do other callers when they were not busy.
Everything went like clockwork ? smooth, efficient, quick, pleasant ???? ??
They are very nice and respectful with their patients
The staff are great and really get to know their donors. Beks is awesome.
Staff is very slow. Half the floor is empty. The payouts are much lower than other plasma companies.
Clean, organized and quick. The staff is very attentive and friendly.
Great front staff member ??????
Carlen she's a great pocker sweet and attentive. Thank you.
Nice staff ?? took good care of me. Clean facilities. The "stickers"h hurt me yet ??
Very friendly staff.
Waisted 5 hours here just to be told I couldn't donate. Their appointment times are worthless.
Good job BioLife. Well managed and friendly employees. Thank you Katie for all you do too!
Appointments are pointless...,be prepared to wait....and wait..then when you get pissed guess what more waiting. Donors are treated like livestock....run!!!!!
Everyone is so nice and respectful!!! Very fast pace!
no lines not as long of a wait much better
Waited for an hour to even get checked in and left because no one helped me. I was stuck in a room and I believe forgotten about.
Ridiculous wait time and they are always low on staff and half of the center is unused.
I make an appointment and never told me that it woyld take 3 whole hours to register as a new donor ??
Everytime I come in Dee is so inviting and sweet hate to see her go.
Rebekah is absolutely amazing. Her bedside mannerIs absolutely perfect Perfect.
The staff was very cordial and friendly, and the process was smooth and rather pleasant.
Friendly staff, clean facility, and they work quickly.
I always have a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. They never let me donate
Very slow takes forever!had a appointment at 11:50 got out at 3:00 !
The staff is always friendly and efficient.
Very nice facility and staff. Courteous and knowledgeable.
This is a great place to donate plasma. Everyone there is so nice.
1 star: poor communication. Rude staff.
Great staff and bedside manners and schedule runs smoothly!!
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
