Central PA Blood Bank is a joke. I've attempted to donate for them 3 times and have been refused for stupid reasons that there was simple explanations for. I will not continue to support them.
My husband and I just went and although we could not donate, the staff was lovely, facility was clean, and an overall nice experience. We will return in the future.
I used to donate blood at this location for over 2 years and I've never had a problem up until today. I had surgery a few months back and talked to them on the phone to confirm that I can come and donate blood. I was told that it was okay and took an appointment just for them to keep me waiting over 20 minutes and put me in a room just to tell me I am not able to donate blood today. I explained that I had already talked on the phone with a couple people to confirm I am able to come and they basically told m
Negative attitude, always a run-around. Every time I've tried to donate, there's always an obstacle. Don't waste your time (or your blood).
This is a very nice done center. They are good at getting you processed and in and out efficiently. I like that donations stay in the state and help people in our community. It's clean and all steps to keep you safe are taken. There is usually a freebie such as a t-shirt or some other insensitive. They also have decent snacks.
Wonderful ladies working, I vote, 5 stars. I was early and was hoping to be seen early but they explained only 2 at a time social distance, I was seen on time thou. Easy to find right across from the hospital so if you go to say your goodbye you can also walk to give someone life. Remember to vote.
The staff is courteous and skilled. The location and times are convenient. So glad to have this local donor center that serves local hospitals.
I can't recommend this place enough! It was my first time donating and the staff had me feeling so comfortable and at ease. They are doing wonderful work!
I had a great first-time experience today. The technician was professional and very friendly.
Showed up 15 minutes prior to my appointment. No one said anything to me until it was time for my appointment and that was to tell me it will be another 15 minutes. It's things like this that make it hard to get people to donate.
It is better to give than receive at the blood bank.
The staff is very professional and accommodating.
Love these folks.
Plasma donors can get disqualified for a list of different reasons, which may result in a temporary or a permanent deferral. Common reasons people get a temporary disqualification may include being dehydrated, taking certain medications, getting a tattoo within the last 4 months, or being pregnant in the last 6 months.
Donating plasma can get busy with donors and long waiting times. To donate plasma faster, choose a plasma center that allows you to book an appointment online and take your health screening questionnaire remotely from home. Additionally, call your local plasma center and ask for the least busy days and times of the week.
Most phlebotomists recommend that you take a day off from working out or lifting weights on the same day as your plasma donation. Instead, take the day to rest, eat well, and drink plenty of water after your donation.
Plasma donors are legally capped at two donations per week or 7-day period, with at least 48 hours in between each donation.
Before your plasma donation, it's recommended that you drink plenty of water (4-6 eight-ounce glasses), and eat a meal with high protein and iron content. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking on the same day as your donation.
